Ya know...I do have an extra 24 mile solar powered electric fence with a lot of extra fittings.
I electric fenced my rose garden this year and had the best roses ever.
Really can't blame the deer, I'm just laying out a smorgasbord for them...

so for the part not plastic deer fenced, I could run a zapper line around knee high. Good idea.
Those things can give you quite a jolt.

Hook it up to 110 volts and they will only touch it once.

Good morning all, 48 going to 51 and some wind. Back still hurting but not as bad as at had been. Going to take it easy as I can today. Still need to stand up mom and the boy.

Randy, still praying, hang in there.

Drew, we ate a lot of dry land cress, called it "cressy salet". Grows in corn fields that have not had chemicals used on them. Also ate kale and turnip.

Looking, with the peanut butter and the nose or tongue shock they won't be back.

Have a great day. Ed

There were as many poor white share croppers as there were poor blacks, my mom’s and dad’s families were both very poor in the depression era south. Collards and turnip greens as well wild Polk salad made up a large part of their diet.

poke salad,I've heard that term, had to look it up
Looks like the vegetarian version of eating blowfish, you'd better cook/eat it right.

All parts of common pokeweed are toxic to humans, pets and livestock. Roots are the most poisonous, leaves and stems are intermediate in toxicity (toxicity increases with maturity), and berries are the least toxic. ... Children are most frequently poisoned by eating raw berries.

aahhhh, boil it three times at least, and when in doubt, of course, cook it in bacon grease....

Poke Sallet Recipe
Remove pokeweed leaves from plant.
Rinse pokeweed leaves in cool water.
Bring leaves to rolling boil in large pot for 20 minutes.
Pour leaves into sieve and rinse in cool water.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times.
Panfry pokeweed leaves for a couple of minutes in bacon grease.

37 and pretty wet outside. Fortunately, doesn't appear to be any frozen spots. The rain will continue for a bit and the temperature should reach the mid-40's.
Got pretty much everything done yesterday, we'll take today as it goes...

I've eaten lots of Poke Salat, including once this year when I found it growing in a neighbor's yard, and we always thoroughly washed it, then boiled it ONCE, drained, rinsed, and then a final boiling; i.e., boiled it a total of TWO times.

NWS says we have 34 degrees going for a high of 61 today, but still none of the badly needed rain.

only .08 inches of rain so far, not enough for anything but grass seed.
System really fell apart before it got here.
I guess I have some tree watering to do tomorrow.
