The Highlander, like the Chrysler Pacifica my wife drove for years, is really more van like than SUV. A lady brought me two full size chairs in a Highlander.

Yes, I think some buy the Highlander because they are just mini-van averse but still need the interior capacity or seating (8). Although the Highlander is no where near a true off road truck-based SUV in the sense of a 4Runner, it does have the same 5,000 lbs towing and it has more HP (295) and nearly as much ground clearance (8 in) plus many cupholders :). I'd never looked at them closely, but was very impressed.

64°F and clear skies, going up to 84° today. Expecting some much needed rain this week.

Condolences to you and your family, Don. Lost my Father in '89, and my Mother in '11. Cherish your time with them.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father.

Finally got caught up, 300+ unread posts read.

66F and clear @ 11:00, high of 76F for the day.

After a six day run of unusually high temps (90's) it finally cooled off.

It's been quite awhile since we've had any measurable rainfall ... at least three weeks I'd guess ... maybe four. Looks like we have a shot Thursday - Sunday.

Haven't mowed in at least three weeks, will probably need to get to that in the next few days.

Leaves have really started to turn ... probably more due to the lack of rain than anything. Hawthorn leaves pretty much all dropped at this point, dogwoods not far behind.

I tried to stay out of the heat during our little heatwave but I did manage to get a little done outside. Had another few of loads of wood chips delivered a few days ago, which I'll need get moved and incorporated into the compost pile.

Did get quite a bit of composted soil screened. Still have two more piles to do.

Lots of stuff to do before the weather turns bad, probably have a couple weeks anyways.

Wife's car needed a new oxygen sensor and a couple of power relays for the ECM, should have that back in the next few days ... which be nice. Could have been a lot worse I guess ... but still pricey.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

70°F and no rain

Should have some stuff at the PO today.
Gonna lend my 60” rotary cutter to my neighbor to prep for some fence work.

Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 9:45 AM. 0% Precip. / 0.00 in. Sunny. High 74F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Horrific news out of Las Vegas last night. What would make someone do something like that?:pullinghair:

Been buying and selling on CL for years, but these last few I've had to deal with more and more flakes. No shows, not enough money and want a discount on the negotiated price, or just change their mind at the last minute. Not a lot, but enough so that I'm just sitting on stuff I'd like to get rid of but don't have time to waste dealing with these idiots.

Finished the tool for removing the swingarm pivots yesterday and used it to remove the drive shaft so that the boot over the front u-joint could be replaced. In the process I noticed the hole where the speedo drive gear goes, and couldn't recall seeing the gear in the boxes of parts. Have a note off to the previous owner to ask if he's ever seen the part, so fingers crossed...

Looks like I'll finally get to changing out those pushrod tube seals today, not much planned otherwise.

Hope everyone's week (and month) gets off to a great start!

Good evening all. 71F this morning, clear, calm. Got windy today, started to cloud up about noon, high temp 88F, humidity rising. Choir practice this morning, then take van for repairs, steam was coming out of it after wife's colonoscopy. Rumor has it it is the water pump, also getting 100K trannie service. Did some shopping while in town, got button head screw to replace socket head screw that was rubbing om the bike. Also got back yard mowed, and screw installed on bike fender.

Had a young man come and walk the fences with me yesterday to see where new strainer posts need driving in to replace those that have decayed all to quickly. It was the first time I have met him and yet within only a few minutes I got a good feeling that he will be someone I can trust to work hard and do a good job. If my instincts are correct he will prove to be a lucky find, both now and in years to come.

I resisted looking at the news yesterday, a selfish wish to not spoil a good day by seeing the aftermath of the shooting in Las Vegas. This morning I caught up and breakfast is now on hold until I get outside and clear my head by moving a few sheep.

The large number of people killed and injured at that concert are tiny compared the immense population of the world and quite likely statistically insignificant compared to those that will have died on the same day from disease and accidental causes. We shouldn't need to worry at such relatively minor blips on society, yet we all do, it is still appalling to see someone intentionally and pointlessly taking the lives of others who have never done them any harm. Perhaps our inability to ever just shrug our shoulders and accept this will always keep happening is one of the things that make us "normal" humans.

Well said Eric. It's incredible how many people got hurt. Looked like Afghanistan with shot up folks being put in the back of pickup trucks and hauled off to hospital. My older brother is a 69 year old accountant. I know he is shocked...

50 degrees out, another nice day. No rain in forecast until this weekend. I'll be out watering plants; dry here.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 47° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 81° with mix of sun and clouds. Got lathe back together. Nice to have cross feed working again. Now I need to clean up the mess I made while cleaning lathe. Barn windows are fixed. Another clean up needed there. Glazing putty all over the area. Need to get all the 5 gallon cans that roof coating came in crushed. That will give me some tractor seat time.
Vegas, prayers for all.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all. 44 this morning with some fog, going to 73 and sunny. We start having a chance of showers Sat. night but we will see. Hope to get some more done getting ready for mom to get here Sat. Have a couple more grab rails to put up and a new toilet to install. Wife wants me to get more done on the pantry but we will see about that too.

Eric, Glad to see that I am not alone. I have looked at the Vagas thing enough to know enough about what happened but don't know the details and don't need to. I pray for them during the day but don't want to get pulled into it in any way. I know enough to know that they are a victim of the mindset that resides in this country and not just the actions of one man. God help us all.

Have a great day. Ed

Ron, what kind of things can you use that metal lathe for?
I bet you took mechanical drawing in high school and were hooked...?
Do you use a digital micrometer a lot with that?

I know a little about woodworking, but have always thought metal was the big leagues.
Seems less scary now that I know how to weld, if only barely.

Ed, hope your Mom moving in goes well and easy.

first coat on. Thank goodness for these dry days.
Second coat today, lost my rattle can hand grip.
Without it, serious finger fatigue.
Cleaned entire deck and felt too many rough spots.
Sanded the whole thing again with a 220 pad.
Much better, not car grade...but doesn't need to be.
Next coat will do the trick.
Then a clear coat on top.
More importantly, one more coat of truck bedliner underneath where the
corrosion was pretty bad. All patched but not overly strong.

46 and 76 later. Dryyyyy.

RS, good to see you back here.

Got several little things crossed off the list yesterday...today may be a repeat.

Bow season opens Saturday...man is it getting harder to pull that bow each year. Acorns are falling.

Looks like our last hummingbirds are gone for the winter. Haven't seen any since 9/30.

75 for a low, going for 85 for a high today in Dallas, and the Channel 4 weatherman just said that 75 low is an all time record high for a low temperature for this date. And some areas are getting rain this morning, but none at my house yet.
