54 going to 70...so nice...but I'd take 100 today if it came with an inch of rain...so dry.
Happy anniversary, David and wife!
I woke up too early, too...but finally got in the chair and dozed off while my tea kettle water warmed for making coffee. Coco thought I was taking too long a nap, so heard something interesting outside to alarm me about.
Drove down near the NC state line to check up on the family farm I manage. I don't own any of it, and don't get paid anything other than getting to hunt there, and occasional firewood when a hurricane takes down a tree. Of course, all the corn has been picked, and with no peanuts, soybeans or cotton planted this year, pretty much done for now.
Except we have a solar energy installation underway. Something I worked on for over a year...they are building the largest installation in Virginia, over 1200 acres across a number of farms. They have the posts and supports in, but still need to do wiring and panel placement. Lots of semis bring in shipping containers full of boxed parts on pallets yesterday. That part of the county is a buzz of activity like they have never seen. Dozens of pick-up trucks, all with Utah license plates.
3 of my best deer tree stands were destroyed where they timbered a section, and the best turkey hunting is gone...but the family is very happy with the increased rent, and contribution to "green" energy. I did find a few things that aren't right per the lease...and I will follow up...main thing is a dirt access road around part of the perimeter to provide access to the forest behind the solar farm...along the edge of the old farm field. It has weeds up to six feet tall, and becomes too narrow at one bottleneck due to their fence and the edge of the creek bottom trees. I walked it all, then drove my truck as far as I could...unfortunately, I didn't find one t post when walking it, and so put a long scratch along the side of my truck.

I used my loppers for a couple of hours to cut a new trail through the woods to my remaining deer stands and saw good deer sign...even close to where all the construction work is going on.
Stilled bummed out about my truck, though.
When I got home last night I roasted two batches of coffee to celebrate National Coffee Day.
