my home thermometer says 59, wow, downright chilly this morning. But a sunny day going up to mid 80s. Very nice.
Just finished making some breakfast, going to get dressed in jeans (no grasshoppers on my bare legs this morning...geez they are gross)
and going to fill up the Massey. Then, perhaps I should take a little lunch pail to complete the scene...I'll head up to the fields next door and
on Labor Day do something that is fun, lot labor for me. The only not fun part is cleaning the tall grass out of my discs, lot of wrap arounds.

I don't like the looks of those hurricane paths at all. Big change from two days ago when they were all curving out to sea. Now it looks like
Westward movement will be unchecked and it's landing here somewhere. I'm headed to PA this week and back by Friday night. Should be plenty of time to deal with whatever weather comes.

53 here heading to the low 70's. Still quite wet after yesterday's rain. Will maybe go out for breakfast and take a ride in the convertible if the sun comes out. Happy labor day all!

Couldn't ask for a nicer day...been a bit nicer if the leaves were turning, but I expect all the "Leaf Peepers" would be heading up the mountain too..be crowded
The mountain is owned by a Roman Catholic sect called Carthusian Order.
There is a fascinating story about the Order and how they came to own the mountain.You can read about it here:

There's a hill climb (old sports cars) in July or August up the pretty steep road to the summit. I'll go to watch that next year. You can see a couple YouTube videos to get the experience vicariously. The hill climb is on the same road visitors (like me) drive up.

Plans today...well, if it dries up from yesterday's steady rain, I'll probably mow the lawn.

High in the 80s today last day in paradise for us back to grind tomorrow next time off November for turkey day. Hurricanes of this strength do strange things and Florida looks in a precarious spot to me. Michigan is in the GFS imaginations if you ask me. The gentlemen I read seem to think OTS we shall see

The monastery is the white buildings to the left in this picture


Absolutely no visitors allowed at the monastery. The monks are allowed one or two family visits per year. There is a meeting house about halfway up the road (to the summit) where the family can visit.

Speaking of weather after the middle of September we will enter a very calm period mild days 70s and 80s for highs this could last into November. Hopefully not dry

At home we have an eight point buck who comes by every day with two girls following about the same time. Nicely developed rack with velvet on turning colors frm brown to grey. His clock says fall and winter are coming. Our tomatoes did awful this years three good ones that's it
