Good morning!!!!

67 outside this AM. Rain missed us last evening. Today into the 90's. Have a little bit of grass left to cut, and the weed whacking. At the rate I am missing the trimming, I might just let it go till next time I cut the grass.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Too bad about that tree, Ron, looked nice next to the barn when blooming.

The mower turned out to have 31.7 hours, not 317! The old man bought it, scraped the neighbors car, parked it for 10 years, died and his grandson took it to the dealer got it serviced and sold it. I paid about $500 below average condition selling price. But it's a lot nicer than average.

Roy, you can call it a BD gift, but it replaces my burnt Simplicity.

Another hot day today before some relief.

Poured first cup of coffee. 64° with light rain this morning. Heading to 69° with slight chance of thunderstorms. Little over 1.5" rain yesterday. When rain stops. It's going to be a good day to cut tree up and run it through chipper. At least what will fit in it. No other major plans today. After spending some time doing repairs on animal barn roof yesterday. I have decided to hire someone to finish job. My son reminded me that it's not a good idea for a 75 year old to be working that high up a ladder. His job is now to find someone to do the job. I can help with that project.
Randy, nice lawnmower.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 62 this morning going to 87 with a 30% chance of T storms, some could be nasty. watching a baby hummer preening just outside the door. Mother in law coming for weekly visit today, not my favorite day. Don't know what else, likely a grocery run.

Randy Enjoy the new Zero. Is that your new shed?

Have a great day. Ed

67.1F and currently a light rain ... although it was pouring just a few minutes ago, looks like there could be more on the way. I woke to rumbles of thunder.

Based on how bumpy it was yesterday when I mowed, the ground was getting pretty dry ... so we were due. Grass was not quite as long/thick as I thought it was, still needed mowed though ... looks like it has started to go dormant.

Haven't yet figured out what I'm going to do today.

68 going to 91. Dry as a bone out there. All the rain passes north. Gave up watching the Orioles last night after two rain delays.

Randy, great find on that mower.

Ron, sorry about the loss of your beautiful tree.

In the pot?

Actually, it looks like some gray fur on the mat.

What's in the sauce? Sounds good. I have some tomatillos almost ready to pick.

Gray2 is in the lower right in chair, paw is visible.
In the sauce spices, lime, peppers, and tomatillos. I'll post the exact recipe later.

Good morning! Just had a quick 1/3" shower, humid but not dusty today 73˚ heading to the nineties.

Nice Z Top.
If you got another it would be ZZ Top.

The low was 47* yesterday and the high was 88*.It was hazy from fires northwest of us. Today it's going to upper 80's with 15-20 mph wind. With a 20% chance of rain.

Not much going on today. But I'm sure I'll find something that needs done.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 6:30AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 97F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Last night, one forecaster's weather model predicted severe thunderstorms for this area this morning, but so far there's no sign of 'em on the radar. A week ago a line of thunderstorms caused many fires north of here that are still burning today. So far it's chewed up more than 80,000 acres.

Glad Gray2 managed to stay out of the new pot, Don. Looking forward to trying your tomatillo recipe! Sounds like a salsa recipe, is it? Brought home a different kind of tortilla chip from Costco last night than the usual brand, which no longer appears on the shelves. The new ones are much lower in salt, good news for the ol' kidney stones, but I'll have to dig a little to find out how much oil they contain. Tastes like less, and tastes good...

New helper really outdid himself on the van's fuel tank installation job yesterday. First he broke off one of the impossible to glue vent line guides, then he broke the plastic barb off one of the anti-rollover valves. Nice bit of ham fisted carelessness. I also caught the hippie using a ScotchLoc type tap on the wiring harness, and drilling a bunch of poorly spaced holes for relays that open the area behind the dash to water. I'd planned to remove the dash for other reasons after the installation was done, but it now looks like I'll also have to revise much of that work just to keep the van from leaking or catching fire. The mechanic wasn't pleased when I pointed these things out, and it's also clear that he doesn't get his own work done because he can't take his eyes off these knuckleheads. And true to form, he's working on two other engines instead of mine. A leopard never changes his spots...

No joy with the BBQ grill price match at either Home Depot or the big hardware store (Orchard Supply) yesterday, as neither would match an internet merchant's price. I'd read both store's price match policies before approaching their representatives, and pointed out that neither expressly excluded internet merchants, but that didn't get me anywhere. Labor Day isn't too far off, so I'll keep an eye out for a sale until then...

Stopped by the BMW shop and took more photos of the old /2 they had there, noticing several thing that weren't done correctly when it was refurbished. Now I wonder if in copying it I'm not also unwittingly copying the wrong way of doing other things.:confused2: Reached out to a buddy that's built several of these, but he's vacationing in Switzerland (what a great way to beat the heat!). Also asked the widow/owner of the motorcycle shop about purchasing some parts from her husband's treasure trove in the back building, but she says she can't find anything back there because it's so poorly organized. She told me she spent three days this week looking for a shift lever, motivated by BMW's near $300 price tag for a new one, and gave up. She didn't seem to interested in my offer of help, so I think it's time to go internet shopping in Germany.

Last night I asked the service tech at Costco to fix the leak on one of the tires when they were rotated, but when I got the truck back he told me that no leak was found. Then he said they hadn't checked the valve stem or core, or broken the tire down to actually look inside for a hole. So I asked him if he could do that, as I'd just have to bring it back when it leaked again. He didn't look too happy but agreed to do it, but then said he still didn't find anything inside, either. Just a bunch of corrosion on the rim where the tire seated, which he attributed to moisture from my "home compressor". I asked him why the corrosion hadn't been cleaned off when the tires were mounted only 18 months ago. He assured me it had, at which point I realized I was wrestling with a pig and gave up. Another case of something (free mounting and tire rotation) being too good to be true, that turns out not to be.

TGIF gang!

Morning all!

Got a problem with my riding mower (actually it is really my Wife's now, she has claimed it, LOL...)

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ing-mower-starts-immediately.html#post4835087

This weekend I'm gonna finish up processing the logs we dropped and maybe move the firewood logs to make room for the moving an trailer we will store our household goods in.

Got my new Pallet Forks late yesterday, going to test them this evening after work (or maybe tomorrow because wife has a date scheduled for us).

Happy Friday!!!!

Be well all,
David

Daughter is having trouble with smoky air, wife picked up air conditioner to put in bedroom window so daughter can sleep.. wrestled that thing for awhile trying to get it safely installed last night, might have to build a shelf to support it outside. Set aside and will try again tonight/tomorrow. I know how she feels, I am normally impacted worse than her, but the meds I am on right now are really doing the job.

Randy, nice mower. Sounds like you are getting the insurance stuff done quickly.

61°F and mostly clear skies this morning, going up to 77° today. I'll take it! We had some spotty storms move through the STL area yesterday evening. We only got a little more of that weird sunshine rain, but friends in other areas reported strong winds and plenty of hail. Glad that missed us.

Plumber showed up yesterday morning and worked until almost 6:30. He replaced all of the old pvc pipes with copper, and re-routed some of the upstairs drains, in addition to changing the layout in the basement bathroom and removing all of the basement kitchen pipes. More progress.

The carpenter got the new wet wall built for the bathroom, and finished taping/mudding/sanding the basement bedroom. It's ready to paint now. More progress.

Congrats on the new-to-you mower, Randy.

72°F and .03 inches rain.

Got a decent start on my mod project in my suites yesterday, French doors reversed, SS table units assembled, new refrigerators installed. Today, I'll get tile layout started.
Here's the King Suite:

if I could skip the hot sauce that looks mighty good Don.

mowed the nut orchard, a very dusty affair, but worth it, as I discovered
my first fig. A Celestial fig. In the fridge and will have for dessert. Wasn't sure it was ripe but
it was soft and sticky and almost leaking sugary fluid. I wonder if hummingbirds like these things...?

I ate one of my Mutsu apples today, as they were starting to disappear. Juicy, a little sweet, and not yet ripe. Another week.
