Drew. The only way to avoid it when you have a long screw going into aged dry wood is to screw in in half at a time. IMG_0569.JPG
Pictured is the area of origin, the fire burned up the doors and into the wall above the doors. No electrical to the shed. The time between putting in the screws and the smoldering to breaking into a fire was about 30 minutes.

I started a small fire in hay once putting screws in stall. Not from the screws getting hit, I don't think, I believe it was sparks from the old drill.
Hot hazy and humid for a couple of more days.

A bit of a dull morning and windy again, but at least that keeps the flies away, so not a bad day at all for working outside.

Eric, what is a track saw?

Ron, it is like a circular saw that is purpose made for making accurate, clean and straight cuts. A sort of upside down table saw - without a table.

The saw sits on top of a length of extruded aluminium track that is placed on top of the wood you want to cut. The track can be clamped to the timber if you want, but most of the time there is no need to as thin rubber strips on the underside of the track grip the wood below and prevent it sliding off the cutting line.

Lots of videos on you tube. Most well known make is probably Festool, although they are a little out of my price league. This one shows the Makita that I have Tool Review - Makita SP6J 165mm Plunge Cut Circular Saw - YouTube.

68°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 95° today. Looks like mid-90s all week for us.

Finally got around to playing this year's first round of golf yesterday. The lesson on Friday went very well, and I learned a lot about how wrong I was doing most things. The guy made corrections to my grip, stance, and swing ... pretty much everything. Saw instant results right there in the store. Amazing. On the course yesterday, I could definitely see and feel the difference. The course we played with another couple was one I've looked forward to playing for many years. I did not live up to the hype, unfortunately. Many of the tee boxes were flooded, and we were literally standing in water in them, while most of the fairways were just this side of asphalt. We found out later in the evening that the owners are trying to sell the course, and probably stopped sinking any money into its upkeep. Nonetheless, a pretty good time was had by all.

Oh, and there must be thousands of these things growing out here. Including one that caught on fire.View attachment 512100

I remember being awed by the shear numbers and sizes of the windfarms we saw in Oklahoma and north Texas when we drove through there on our way to the Grand Canyon back in 2011. It's impressive how they just go on as far as the eye can see.

... even played a little air guitar (old man playing air guitar is not pretty)...wishing I could play like PJ.

Hahaha ... I'll have you know that this old man can be seen any day of the week rolling down the highway with my SiriusXM blasting away, playing air guitar/bass/drums/keyboards/...even violin. I suspect I even look like Wayne and Garth bopping my head from time to time. Play on, wngsprd! Play on!

Good morning all. Sunny and cool this morning but will be rainy later this week.
Weekend was chock full of yard work. I trimmed my Canary Island palm for the first time and managed to get a leaf spine to puncture a surface vein on my left forearm. I bled a stuck pig for a while and now have a big bruise to show for it.
Bought a used Kubota T2080 mower for $500 from a friend and mowed the yard around the house.
Changed oil, air filter etc.. for my lady's car. We recently not new tires & wheel aligned + replaced transmission oil. We should be ready for summer road trips.
Hooked up my burner to my 1000 gallon propane tank. I now can boil crawfish til the cows come home.
Found out that the Miracle Gro liquid feeder works very well for car wash when I filled an empty fertilizer bottle with liquid soap.
Made 10 deep root watering system out of 3/4" PVC conduit and 5 gallon buckets. They made watering the tree so much easier. I just filled the buckets and walked away. The buckets empty into the root area in 2-6 hours depending on the location.
I also bush hogged half my big yard before it got too dark. I'll have to finish it off today after work.
