Don, I have a friend of a friend down west of Victoria that just got out of the hospital. He was standing in knee deep water(in a lake) and a water mocassin bit him on the ankle underwater. Fangs were about 1.5" apart.

Cottonmouth's are no joke, they will bite on land, under water, or on top of the water, never saw one fly, but I don't trust them! Their venom is about as bad as a North American pit viper gets. And they are aggressive often times.
Then there's those little bitty coral snakes...

Kyle I remember when I was a child my Dad took us water moccasin hunting one night. One picked up it head and came aggressively at us. My dad had a head light on and kept his cool and just as it got about 10 feet from us he unloaded his 12 gauge on it. That was scary.

Good evening all. 58F this morning calm wind and rain. 1.7 in rain gauge this morning, rain ended about 3 or 3:30 PM another 1 in or so in rain gauge, expect to be close to 3 in at final check in morning. Slow day today, putter on computer, flat on new bike due to leak in patch, so removed patch and used a different style patch. Getting better at pulling rear tire with fender and disc brake :) . Also got the new mount for new GPS in and now on bike. Watching Cards and Cubs on ESPN.

My old Impala has almost 332,000. Many things are going wrong with it. So many, that I've decided to take up my sister's offer to buy her 2012 Altima. It is kind of a mental struggle to give up on it because the engine is still in great condition. Problem short list includes, transmission, windshield, front wheel bearing hub assemblies, transaxle, catalytic converter...there's more but I just type this out to convince myself that I need to let it go. Just let it go...:)

Kyle, don't feel sad, pick another Disney film to sing to. Something from Lion King would perhaps be more fitting for an Impala.

Try Hakuna Matata - no worries ? :)

Good morning all. Woke up to clear skies, with only a touch of frost on the grass. Spoilt for choice on what I can do today - no doubt my wife will narrow that selection down a little.

My little Iseki got to move a lot of dirt yesterday. While a tractor took it away in a dump trailer, I had chance to admire a fantastic view, looking down onto the Cheshire plain. The snaps I took with my phone don't really do the scenery justice, even so I thought you still may like to see it too. Sorry about the size of the files, but if I compress them much more you won't see anything if you zoom in.

Riptides, in that middle pic you may just make out a farm with a tall concrete silo like yours. Not sure if they have turned the top into an observatory as you wanted, although from up there they would be able to see one - the white pixelated blob on the horizon is the Lovell radio telescope at Jodrall Bank, the most famous observatory in this country.

45 out this AM. The wife and I made an ice cream run yesterday and stopped by HD to pickup a new mower. I selected a 22 inch Toro to help me out around here. Go big! LOL. It sits in a box, in the bed of the truck. The latch broke so it is up and over getting stuff in and out for a while.

We continued our spring cleanup routines for most of the day yesterday.

Eric, those are some nice pics, love the horse!

Have a great day all, be safe!

Dr. appointment after work which I'm not looking forward to.

Enjoy the day all.

42 going to 67 and rain tonight.

Eric, very nice view from that farm. Makes me long for a day up in the Shenandoah. I like the flowers along that fence. I've heard of Lovell. Any cats out on Cheshire plain? :)

Don, send that rattler after your pigs. Seen many cottonmouths in SE Virginia, including one on the beach in southern VA Beach (Back Bay/False Cape) but none here...just copperheads.

Completed the electrical portion of the 3rd function install. Again, tight places to squeeze my hands. Tested and heard the solenoid clicks and saw the hose move a bit, so seems to work. One more overall check for leaks and then wait time for the grapple.

Mowing today among other chores.

27 going for a high of 48. 40% chance of rain. Winds ENE 9 mph.

My thoughts go out there to the guys/gals that are not in too good of a shape.

I went to bed late (00:45 hrs) last night and I am up early this morning (05:30 hrs) in the hopes that I will be tired enough to go right to sleep tonight at 18:00 hrs. I need to be up Tuesday morning at 02:00 for a trip to the big smoke (Toronto) for a safety meeting. The meeting starts at 08:00. Leaving the house at 02:00 will allow me enough time to have breakfast on the way. I will overnight down there and go to another meeting on Wednesday. Over night Wednesday and then off to Stratford to buy some equipment.
A stop on the way home at my dealers' place will round out the trip. [That statement doesn't sound good, but it is the best I can come up with at this hour.]

warmer 53 going to 74 today with rain coming in late.
My helper used his vac equipped JD z turn to mow my whole place yesterday and suck up about an inch of lawn chaff and thatch. I was going to put down weed and feed today, still might, except helper brought 13 knockout rose bushes he got on special and those have to be planted; will help to fill in a tree line between myself and my favorite neighbor, one who is actively trying to make things look nicer. So they get to see the roses too...
Probably will wait and let my helper put the phd back on. Digging holes by hand in a treeline is just killer work due to roots; a phd makes it incredibly easier, but not an easy implement to mount and dismount.

trying to be good this week in my diet; annual physical this Thursday and would like to see my lab results not get worse and maybe even a little better. I do believe I will be put back on statins. Sugar and PSA my other two biggies.

Don, Glad we don't have fang weed here.

And hopefully we are done with snow.

Weeds are really taking over the grass in my yard, so sprayed 2,4-d yesterday.

Sunny then more rain later, April showers..

Good morning! 50˚. Started picking dewberries yesterday. Most are still green but it looks like it will be a bumper crop. I'm on full snake alert and got the snake boots on. Mom put herself on a plant based no vegetable oil diet to get the best possible results at the Cardiologist so she can have her hip surgery. I told her 3 days is not quite long enough but it's a start since oils (including olive oil) can reduce arterial blood flow by as much as 30%. She has had the experience of seeing two sons with heart disease and their diets and the results, - one a steady decline till death, one improved health.

best wishes for your Mom Don. Even if it's only mental it's good for her to be positive before surgery.
Not sure I understand the reduction in arterial blood flow. Does that also correspond with lower BP?
What if your BP is currently normal? I cook with olive oil and use it in my salads; did not know it was heart healthy
but it makes sense.
