Good evening all. 60F this morning, cold front had just passed through, clear and wind picking up. Windy most of the day, temp surpassed the forecast 66F and rose to 72F. Cleaned up some dirt around the new tree, working on 10-speed, removed front derailleur stop screws to replace them, moved tire and freewheel to new rim and mounted on bike.

My 12 year old daughter wants to come to Hawaii just to hug your puppy. She thinks it is sooooo cute!

He is very huggable.

Getting along quite nicely with rest of the family.

22 right now...high will be about mid-20's.

Looks like about 10-11 inches of powder snow. Since the wind was blowing a bit, I expect some drifts. I'll be heading out in about an hour to start the clean up.

That boxer pup is adorable!!

The wind got up yesterday here too, just after I had loaded the wood burning range in the kitchen with two good pieces of elm. Our doors are wide and tall enough for cart horses to pass, so it doesn't take much warping of the oak and pressure from the wind outside before the even the thickest door seal parts and lets in air. With it being a range cooker, there is a limit to how far the air supply can be shut down and the firebox responded to all this surplus oxygen like a steam loco on a world record speed attempt. The temperature needle was off the top of the dial before I realized what was happening.

Wngsprd, you are going to find it hard not to smile every day you look at that weather vane. Your son is smart, side-by-side barrels should point into the wind much better than an over-and-under. :)

Little Kekoa is very cute. Look forward to hearing how he settles in.

RNG, quite therapeutic watching that water run over the top of the dam emergency overflow. Thought I would have a little search to see what webcams were pointed at waterfalls. Most were showing nothing :confused3: - forgot it is still night time in many parts of the globe :duh:

42 windy and clear. Looking for 50.

Great pup and name, David.

Eye doctor appointments for us today.

I saw Oroville on the news, too. Sounds like getting worse instead of fixed.

Done my drive, the street (about 1/8 mile cul-de-sac) and all the neighbors' drives. It was deeper then I expected...12" or a bit more, plus some drifts. The front walk is fairly clear. Fortunately, the snow was powdery as I'd written in my previous post, so not too heavy to shovel. Of course, powdery snow makes snow blowing visibility very difficult, but I stayed on the drives for the most part. I think I ate one or two driveway markers though.
Since I've got more shoveling to do (rear deck and another walk), I think I'll call in today.

Slow and easy does it that's a lot of snow to move even if it's light and fluffy

41 out this AM. The winds hit hard last night at around 10PM and have not let up yet.

I hear the equipment shed and the cattle shed roofs flapping. The cattle shed, not too concerned over, the equipment shed, yeah, that ain't good.

Have a great day all, be safe.

Roy. How's the Toyota doing? Compared to the Ford?

The Toyota is really nice! Obviously, it's quite a bit smaller and narrower then the F-150, but I can deal with that.
It gets 5-6 MPG more than the Ford, which is great since I drive 50 miles each way to work. Altogether, a very nice vehicle and I like it a lot more than the F-150.

No doubt! I've had one heart attack and I have no interest in having another!

ALERT-ALERT-ALERT -- Yes, an evacuation has been ordered. All Yuba County on the valley floor. The auxiliary spillway is close to failing. Please travel safely. Contact family and friends. Help the elderly.

Take only routes to the east, south, or west. DO NOT TRAVEL NORTH TOWARD OROVILLE!!!!!

not good at all. Can't imagine dealing with 180,000 displaced people. Red Cross and local governments must be on high alert.

prayers to all those folks affected; huge number of folks could lose their homes if this dam totally fails

52 degrees going up only to 55, much cooler day than yesterday.
Plans for today will be based on whether lots of plants show up; otherwise I'm going to work
on my mower renovation.

RNG hope they solve the dams problems before it gets worse. Remember the famous quote the low GC built the dam wonder what he left out?

Toyota makes very nice trucks dependable and they go well in the snow if 4wd. Wife and I thru the years have owned several fourrunners in the 90s and early 2000s held their value well decent fuel mileage and very very dependable. She would put about 30000 miles a year on them with no problems

They are probably looking for something to eat. I really thought this storm would have given you more snow. I know deep down you would have wanted at least two feet.

Enjoy your day off

I'm confused but then what I know about hunting rifles/shotguns could be found on the head of a pin.
Isn't that an over-under, and does that always mean a shotgun plus a rifle or two rifles?
Is the shotgun barrel always on the bottom?
My understanding of a "double barrel" shotgun is that usually that's a side by side.
While I'm not a hunter I can sure appreciate the workmanship in these guns.

I'm assuming once the market went to automatic shotguns, or the classic pump, side by sides went away?
I would think an over-under would be a heavy gun.
