Good Morning! 59F @ 5:45AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 69F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.
All of the nice things and freedoms we take for granted every day are due to the courage, generosity, and sacrifices of veterans. They should be honored every day, not just one.
Glad you enjoyed your short ride, Eric, and happy to hear that the British still get it when it comes to sports cars.
Nice to hear from you, Larro! But frost in Florida?
Sound does odd things depending on how the air moves (or doesn't). But really surprised that the facility would let something so loud go on so late on a week night. Most jurisdictions have "sound curfews", and a call to the zoning department may help prevent future occurrences.
Peppermint oil is good, moth balls work as well but don't smell as nice, Lenny. I use the mouse poison as well because there are no pets around to get into it.
Found van parked inside yesterday when I stopped by the mechanic's, but way too many things stacked very close to it and people working too close also. Good thing I have practice fixing paint problems, 'cause I think there's gonna be some when I get it back.

Two windows had been installed, but nothing else to show for the three days it's been there, but promises were made to do more soon. I took down what I thought would be the right supplies and tools to install a pair of relays for the headlights but came up short, so I made a list and will try again next week.
Every year at this time we all have to set our clocks back and it gets dark at about 5PM. You know, just about the same time the majority of us have to go somewhere. Last night I was one of them, and I was doing my weekly shopping in town. I was headed out of the parking lot at Costco when I spotted something in the road ahead. When it came into the headlights I saw it was someone in a wheelchair. In the middle of the road. And they were having trouble getting over something. So I parked the truck, got out, and asked the old fellow on board if he needed any help. His voice was very quiet, confirming for me that he was quite frail. But also quite determined not to let his condition hold him back. He looked up at me and said yes, so I grabbed the handles on his chair and got him across the street, up over the curb, and past the construction damaged part of the sidewalk so he'd have smoother sailing for the rest of his journey.
Then I had to run back to my truck to get it out of the way of the other shoppers trying to leave the parking lot. The truck is so big I don't think anyone saw why it was parked where it was, and I was afraid of inciting a round of road rage. But what I didn't do, and really should have, was move it into a parking place and chased that old man down to find out just why he was out there in the dark in such a situation. Wasn't there anyone in his life that could give him a lift? Or help with his shopping? What else was he struggling with that an hour or two a week would turn into a non-issue?
So here's the thing. We're once again headed into the Holi-daze, the time of year when everyone is supposed to show good will toward men. And this year perhaps more than ever, there are deep divisions and hostilities that make showing good will even more of a challenge. So instead of focusing on gift lists and who's seated next to who at the big holiday meal, maybe it would be a good idea to keep an eye out for people like that old gentleman that need a hand. And take a minute or two and lend it.
TGIF!
