Good Morning! 68F @ 3:30AM. Partly cloudy. High 91F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Oh my gosh, Don, that's a lot of catfish! I'm sure the proceeds will be put to good use at the VFD.

One of my neighbors has a Jetta, Buppies. He doesn't want a new car, doesn't want any money from VW, and just wants to be left alone to enjoy the great mileage he's been getting.:confused2:

Sounds like there's rednecks in Kansas, too, eh seebee?

Eric, perhaps the swans would appreciate compensation, maybe in the form of some bread crumbs, for having their picture taken?

Slow day yesterday, catching up on email and paperwork, then a bit of work on the bike. I learned the hard way on the way back from dinner the other night that the bulbs in both the speedo and tach were out, so I took care of that in the afternoon. Both had to come out of their housing to reach the socket, and I wished for the hands of a ten year old to make getting in there easier. Also found that the steering stem bearings are shot, so I'll take care of that today. Also have to order propane; the tank's down to less than 20% and all the BBQ bottles are empty. Then off to town for groceries and a Costco run for a new nosepiece on the glasses.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Hope things go smooth for you at the VA Roy G.

Reminds me of a joke:

The old farmer had been tilling his 160 acres for many years, and though his wife had long complained about his poor hearing, he'd yet to do anything about it. One morning at breakfast, she shouted "Henry, I made an appointment for you next week at the ear doctor to see about a hearing aid. The grandkids were here all last week and both remarked that you hardly said anything to either one of them. They're not gonna be young forever, and you're gonna miss it if you don't get your ears fixed!"

Henry loved his grandkids, and while he didn't care much for what most folks had to say these days, he knew his wife was right. So when the day came for his appointment he got there right on time and was pleased with the new doctor. Even better, when he walked out of the office he could hear music in the lobby, the cute nurse's goodbye, and even birds singing in the trees outside. It was even better when he got home because he was hearing things he hadn't for years. He also noticed his wife was a lot nicer to him, and wasn't yelling for a change!

Things were great for the next couple of weeks until one morning he came down to breakfast and couldn't hear a thing. It was just like the old days again, so right away his wife called the doctor and got him another appointment for that same afternoon. It didn't take the doctor long to figure out that Henry's hearing wasn't what it should be, so he got out his light and looked in Henry's ear. He wasn't sure what he was seeing, so he used a pair of hemostats and pulled out something that clearly wasn't a hearing aid.

"Henry, what's this suppository doing in your ear?" the doc asked.

"I have no idea", said Henry". "But where do you suppose my hearing aid got to?"

Good morning all, 63 this morning going to 88. Got to run some errands and get some groceries today. Might work on the Pantry that I am building over the steps. Not likely to get much done between being quiet so I don''t upset anyone and me being tired. Ed

Good morning! 71˚ and finally cooler outside than inside the first hour of the morning. Finally recovering from FF and starting to think of the other projects that need to be doing. Funny most seem to be at my parents.

Drew while I was dissembling the FF my wife mowed the yard, hey there's an idea.

43 just now, on the way to the 80s.

Nice FF Don, sounds like it went off without a hitch. Lots of work, but worth it.

I did, Steve, at least temporarily. The new station, a Davis Vantage Pro Plus model 6162, is much heavier than the old Vantage Vue, and the old pole wobbles more than it should. It'll get it replaced as soon as I can get over to the junk yard for one with a larger diameter. I also needed a bit of help from Davis tech support to move over the old WeatherLink computer interface. I couldn't see the black connector inside the old Vue console until the tech told me where to find it. Seems to be working fine so far, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Good deal how do you have it mounted from the ground or on the roof?? I've found for the most part electrical conduit at HD in the 1.5 to 2" works great and easy to find!

Low 60's early, around 90 later. Working on on one tractor, actually making a small model of the hitch I want to build and testing it to see if it does what I think it will. My model is two screw hooks, screwed into a cardboard "a frame", have a long pin acting as the swivel rod for the screw hooks/lower arms. Using a winch mount to play the part of the tractor tail piece, with a long all thread running through a hole into the upper part of the cardboard to simulate the actuator. Looks like my idea might just work.

I'm just ground mounting 5' above the gravel pad. This time I'll sink the post a couple feet deep and back fill with gravel. Should be a lot stiffer, especially at 1.5" diameter.

Thanks for the tip. Every time I stop at the junk yard more than just what I went there seems to follow me home, so perhaps HD is a safer option?

70 this morning and headed to 92 today. Currently 86.

Had to take the youngest boy to the doctor this morning. Allergy congestion caused him to get sick yesterday and wife was worried. Back now to take care of birds and start getting things ready for the fall hay cutting. We have a 10 day weather window right now, and that is about what we need. Only thing is that I have a funeral this evening and tomorrow afternoon. So it's going to be a slow start. The neighbor lady my wife grew up by passed this weekend. Closest thing to a local grandmother my wife had.

Don looks like you had another successful fish fry.

All this talk of down sizing. Wife and I are talking about growing. Yep, adding land. Got to remember the age difference though.

You could mount the Base unit 5 ft above the ground and couple 2 poles together for the Wind at the top that is how mine is setup here.

Had a ok day. Didn't get much sleep last night, some stomach problems. I'll be ok, just gotta watch what I eat better....

I am trying to get a list of must do projects worked up. Winter is coming here, and I need to be ready for it.

Famer, good luck with the kid. As for downsizing, it is a age thing. It will get here sooner than you like!

I keep telling people on acreage you dont have to mow it all, let some revert to woods. I once cleared out in my woods and used to bush hog it every yr. Then i didnt have time, and it grew back up. Every yr my garden gets smaller, and my yard will soon.

I look out at the front lawn and ask myself 'who's going to see it'. The answer is always only me (I have no road frontage) so it doesn't get done that week. When the small birds on the ground looking for worms complain that they can't see over the top of the wall of grass around them that's when everything gets a haircut.

Good evening all. 72F to 91F today variable cloudiness, although heavier in the afternoon. Moderate breeze today. Bike ride, finish mowing but not weed eating, got a nap in and the roof replacement is in process. So far only two pieces of decking have bit the dust.

54 right now...high of 78 today.
Long day yesterday...bit over 12 hours not including driving time (hour each way). The auditor is a "by the book" kind of guy and we got nailed on our QMS (Quality Management System) not being set up for a multi-site QMS. He was right, of course...it was something I'd been expressing to the higher ups, but to no avail.
Reckon it'll be long days all week until Friday. That will be a short day since the auditor has to catch a flight.
