Texas apparently has no monopoly on things that bite and sting. Had a few minutes this morning to take care of that wasp nest under the propane tank cover. Made up a long piece of 2x2 with a piece of steel screwed to the end to flip up the lid, then hit the nest with a can of insecticide. Hope I got the queen this time, as this is the third encounter with this particular colony. Gotta hand it to the little suckers, though, they picked a perfect spot to lay in ambush, at the same time keeping the nest nice and dry. Bet it gets hotter'n a pistol under that cover with the sun beatin' down though! WaDaYaThink? Should I leave the nest for the propane man to find next fillup?

Seems to be one of their favorite spots around here. I shoot me whenever I think to look. Gas guy carries a can of spray.

you really should be kinder to yourself David...:D

electric project wound up replacing all of the entrance service piping, replacing with next size up.
They did a nice job with the rv setups. The black box hanging down is an inline surge protector.

Just got back from the DeWalt/Black and Decker service center up in Parma ... was as I suspected: charger was bad, not the batteries.

Even my old battery (mfg. date 2011) was willing to take a charge ...

Are these post-mounted feeders ... or hanging ones ?

If post mounted, you might consider making up some raccoon baffles out of some 6" x 24" round heating duct and a cap so you don't have to bring them in every night.

12 hanging hummingbird feeders, 3 hanging sunflower and thistle feeders, 2 suet, and 2 hanging peanut butter/corn meal/lard blend cedar logs. The posts are left out but we only put a day's worth of seed in them, so most nights they are empty.

Got the grass mowed and pruned the red bud tree/bush. Visited with sister and her family and ate supper. Had a nice little rain this afternoon, my guess is we got a couple tenths. Ed

Good Evening. 1905, sunny, 89F {HI 100F} with 56% humidity. Forecast high of 96F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 76F tonight. I had office relief this afternoon, had to do a early morning shopping trip to Marianna, and cut the okra nd pick the peas too. Our local Centennial Bank hosts the training for all the other CB's in the area here at the Civic Center every quarter, and tonight is their night. Training is eating very good BBQ, playing games and watching a short video while a higher up talks for a few minutes. I think they should have training more often.

You guys have a good one,
Larro

Leave the lid open. No nest will form. Just close it before the snow flies.

Good catch, Drew.
Just love this auto typing :)

Farmer, we don't get snow at our elevation, but I doubt the wife would approve of leaving it open.

Pretty good day.
Finished install of my auto start panel on my military surplus generator after a consult with the guy who built the board. More than one way to skin a cat and his install manual had a few voids. He told me the last wiring connection and verified my wiring of the relay to my solar power system.
Here's what is looks like installed and running.

My manual transfer switch with it running.

Soooo, what does this mod do for me?
1. I can still run the MEP standalone.
2. My Outback can auto start/stop the generator according to preset parameters such as low voltage, state of battery charge, exercise schedule, or a must run schedule. And I can monitor, affect these parameters remotely on the web.
3. I can start/stop generator from the Outback control panel. Limited use unless combined with #4.
4. I can start/stop generator remotely from my iPhone, iPad, computer.
W
Would like to find more robust switches that connect the Outback, maybe even a single on-off-on. My original thought was that the switch and breaker be tied to stay in sync. Of course, ideally, I could switch those functions remotely, but likely beyond my expertise

So so now I have some tidying up. The next phase is to tie in the aux fuel line to my 125gal tank.

49 right now...heading up to 80 today

66 going to 87.

Got a sample taste of rain yesterday...that may be it 'til next week. It was enough to run me in from mowing...will try to finish up today.

David, fascinating generator system you have built.

67 high of 89 today upper 90s by weekend and no rain. With all of this heat it's going to dry out quick. Storms east of here yesterday but none here. Now no chance of rain till next week at the earliest.

David your generation system is above my pay grade but fascinating none the less.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 87° with sunny skies all day. Lights in barn loft went bad. Decided to replace with LED. First item was to get rid of the wasp that collect on inside of doors. Turns out I had to replace box's, wring, switch and receptacle. it was all over 50 years old. Sure gets up hot up there. 4 hours later there are working lights again. Lawn cutting is on agenda for early today.
Good Morning All.

thank you, now I don't feel so dumb looking at those labels and trying to figure out how it worked.
I can just see little kids getting in there and poking all the buttons to get the lights to go on and off. :D:shocked: lock?
Very impressive assuming one knew how it worked. Basically a status panel with some big breakers?
Having spent two years working in utility power plants, I have some inkling of power control panels and this looks
nicely heavy duty. Nicely wired for fairly low voltage stationary unit.

looks like a bunch of us are doing electrical work this week. May it make us all safer.

49F clear near 80 for high.
Last day of comfortable weather before the 3 N's move in for a spell.

After work going to take weed trimmer for good couple hours walk,brooks/streams sure could refilling...yikes.

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning all, 63 going to 84 with a 20% chance of storms this pm. Not sure what I will get into today, but I am sure it will be something. Having 2nd thoughts about standing over a coal forge Saturday and swinging a 2 1/2 lb hammer for a 3 or 4 hours. Have to think about it some more. Hot, humid, coal forge and hammer don't seem to go together. :scratchchin:

David. It looks good to me but I will have to take your word for it, over my head as well. The guy was here to hook up the n gas for my new generator yesterday and the electrician is supposed to be here thursday to do the wiring. This I could do but it is nice to let someone else do it.

Drew your wiring job looks great. Much rather pay a little more and be able to forget it and not wonder if they did it right.

Have a great day Guys. Ed

Good morning! 72˚ heading to 100˚ for the 11th time this Summer. A work outside till noon only day. This morning I could pull senna weeds, grub mesquite, mow for Dad, or solarize the garden - I still have an hour to decide, waiting for more daylight. For breakfast a special carrot cake muffin and second pod coffee (using the same pod for a second cup). I found that I don't have PVCs with the weaker coffee.

We decide not to use wonder dust because Whippers wound has started to heal very slowly. I'm staying off the golf car so she won't feel obligated to run with it. Poor puppy.

A beautiful day, high in the low 80's, won't last long, near 100° by Saturday. I like summer, but not frying pan heat!
