My wife and I were talking to a mission organization about 4 different places but it did not feel right. Then this worked out and we knew this was right, this what God had for us to do. Tells you how important people are to Him. He needs us and we learn more each day that we need him too. Thanks Kyle, prayers sent your way as well. Ed

Drinking first cup of coffee. 67° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 87° with periods of sun. Got .15" of rain overnight. Doctor appointments for wife and me today.
Eric, on day before and day of trash pickup no sign needed. Since it was Saturday. Had a piece of cardboard taped to items with Free written on it. Signs and scrap wood used to hold door up all taken.
Toppop52, I fed a lot of fish with live bait when younger. Then I found out how to fish with spoons and other artificial baits. Didn't save any money. But left fish hungry for next persons with live bait.
RS, Menard's is another place to shop. I now have them, HD, Lowes, HF and TSC within a 6 miles radius to me. Someone has to have what I need too complete a project. My Kukota dealer moved out of that ring. They moved west near where Irv lives. But no longer sell Kubota. Good thing I have good Internet access.
Good Morning All.

72 going to 92 on a hot dry summer day. The coming week is supposed to be really hot for many of us, all kinds of high heat warnings out.
Eric you may be starting late but welcome to the heat.
Farmer, good luck keeping 80,000 women happy in the heat.

Electricians coming back to finish a few nits on my barn wiring, plus the electrical inspector comes this morning. Going from 100 amp to 200 amp means the
City of Washington gets their fee. But they come out, find a "real" electrician is doing the job, give it a cursory once over and leave. They either have bigger fish to fry or they are headed back to watch YouTube in their office.

Good morning all. 67 here this am going to 90 with a 60% chance of thunderstorms. They are saying some storms could have high winds. Need to run some errands this am and hope to re work my closet. They are saying that the heat index is going to be 105 for the blacksmith guild picnic and work day. It is beginning to not sound like fun. Standing in front of a coal forge is not a cool thing to do temp wise.

Drew I have an old adze that I use to make roots not stick up so high, works well. Starch is not as fattening as you think. If you eat 75% starch and the rest veg. with little or no fat you will loose the weight you are wanting to with no problem. My 90 at the time mom did that and her hands straightened up.

Be cool everyone. Ed

70 going to 93.

Tomatoes in the garden coming along well. So far, only harvested 3 tobacco worms off of them. They are ready for a for a good rain, but they have a 60% chance it won't.

Picked my son up at the train station yesterday...first time I've parallel parked my new truck...took 6 tries...fortunately on a quiet street...in my defense, it was a tight space, but I felt like a 16 year old again, trying to get it just right. I have never had anything so big so glad to get some practice.

100˚, Drew - compared to you I am a complete failure as a gardener. Last night the carpenter ants stripped my pepper plants, the black swallowtail caterpillar ate all my dill and the frog that is suppose to be eating them has taken refuge inside to escape the heat.

That caterpillar looks like it's big enough to eat the frog. We haven't found the usual swallowtail caterpillars on our dill this year. Nice looking rock retaining wall.

The Caterpillar looks like what we called Tomato worms. Sprinkling Diatomaceous Earth on the plants got rid of them in days. Best to catch them early before plant has been eaten.

80 this morning and headed to 95 today. Heat index of 87 already. Yuck.

Well drywall got started yesterday but I lacked the motivation to finish it. So after mowing is done I'll hook up the bathtub drain and finish drywall except around tub. Have to get some stuff to install the surround. Wish they'd put a list of stuff you need on the box instead of on the paperwork inside it that doesn't get seen till installation. Only big deal is Lowes, HD and Menards are all an hours drive one way.

Eric. I noticed you stopped posting temperatures. Just what do you call summer time temps?

71F or so and overcast ... high is supposed to be 88F.

Thunderstorms blew through around 07:00 ... looks like we might have gotten around an inch or so of rain - the one local wx station is reporting 0.62" and the other is reporting 1.31" ...

Heading out here in a moment to pick up some door frames for the daycare remodel, then cutting out more doorways in interior walls.

Ever tried diatomaceous earth on moles/voles/gophers? Don't like the idea of using poison on those, either...

It kills insects and such by cutting open the hard shell and they dehydrate, on moles it may cause them some breathing discomfort in high enough concentration, but I doubt it's an effective repellent. Diatomaceous Earth General Fact Sheet

Headed to 94° today they say, didn't quite make 90° yesterday, but very humid. A few cooler days coming then more knock down heat.

I need to buy another thermometer for outside. At the moment I only get to see exactly how hot/cold it is when I go for a ride around in the car.

Forecast this week is for afternoon shade temperatures of around 30C/86F. I'm sure a lot of you could work in that wearing a beanie hat, gloves and a thick coat, but I find it quite hard going, at least for the first few days. It is not much more than an hour after lunch and already I am back inside for another drink.

I intend to spend the next few hours inside the tractor cab. The cool of the cab will be nice, even better will be to put a piece of glass between me and the horse flies.

68°F and .01 inches rain last 24 hours

Yesterday we took a sample retired day, no chores, nothing really productive. Wife and I just spent time with each other, played some cards. Relaxing and very nice

Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning, Texas hot. Has anyone used wonder dust on a dog's open wound. Whipper's stitches broke loose and the vet suggested letting heal naturally this time. He did not know about wonder dust but said the ingredients looked ok.

Scag z back in operational mode. New blades, new ignition coils, plugs, fluids and filters. New pushrods wasn't a difficult install, most challenging was not having the proper feeler gauge and having to buy one. Other than that scraping the old gasket off was the most time consuming. Back to regularly scheduled programming, maybe get my generator auto start finally wired into the 10kw genset.

Storm rolled thru on way home. Some wind. Needed the rain.
Need to pick green beans, picked a few and the sun came back out and it was instantly 99% humidity. Stopped for supper, need to go back out. Gone a few days and the weeds took over.

Another trip to college in AR last week. 2200 miles in 5 days. Ran into a few storms down in west TN. Came back up I65 from Nashville to louisville, stopped by to visit Dad in OH. Visited Loretta Lynns ranch in TN, that was neat.

It got into the low 80's today, I spent most of the morning cleaning up a couple of trees I've cut down. Then tonight I worked on some stuff in the yard.

Have a good one!
