Almost nine hours of utter craziness on route 95, no major accidents, but dozens of complete stops in the middle of the highway, ribbons of cars and trucks for miles.
And you always worry about the guy behind you plowing into you. I start braking way early and put my four way flashers on until I see the vehicle behind me start to slow down. Still they come screeching up right behind you when they had all that room to brake.
Rattle in Jag is louder and embarrassing at stop lights. Sounds like an old truck. Pretty much narrowed it down to a loose heat shield somewhere on right side, likely muffler system related, though I looked under there and nothing odd was hanging down. Car performed perfectly, 23 mpg. No 5 over this day...the whole road was doing 15 over until constant bottlenecks then crammed all those cars up and down the highways; glad my car has a carbon cabin filter. It wasn't until I got on 64 off 95 heading for the Outer Banks that the traffic calmed down. And I sort of slumped in the seat and thought boy is it good to be home.

Had a lovely dinner out last night at Freddie's Restaurant in Trenton NJ. This town is not what you call a garden spot of urban progress...I worked downtown for a company for a few years a long time ago that thankfully relocated to the Route 1 corridor out of town, and one of my jobs, well all the men, was to walk the women to their cars.
We could see drug dealing and prostitutes walking from our office windows. And so could our clients who came to visit. In this case, owners of land title agencies many of whom were located in ritzy NJ towns. Downtown Trenton is not ritzy, one can sure say that. It participates in the single hand of awful NJ major cities like Trenton, Camden, Newark, Paterson, and I'd say Atlantic city three blocks off the casino row. But at Freddies, which has been in the same spot since the 30's, near the train station, an even less pleasant area of the capital city of Trenton, the prime rib weighed about a pound and a half, cooked perfectly, utterly delicious, and I ate about six ounces and sent the rest home with my friends. I like the more well done outer parts and by the time I've eaten them plus a potato I'm plenty full enough. My friend ate the entire thing, it was his birthday. He also has a gut like a small training ball. Not good. Definitely going to keel over one of these days.

Lastly, then I'm going to take a nap, now I know what i can grow in my little one acre of farmland. Hemp! I'm thinking of getting rid of all my synthetic straps and ropes and replacing them with a more nautical look, big hemp ropes. So Officer Bob, I'm just growing rope material and I could make a shirt for you out if it, think high fibre, and it won't smell a bit. ??? Will you all help me make bail when they don't like the looks of my bale?....:D :dance1:

:laughing::laughing: Sounds like she's feeling much better, Don! I hope for both your sakes she gets a clean bill of health soon.

Ed, I hope you Mom recovers quickly.

RNG, Whipper got her medical release this morning and is again a free range outside dog. She just needs to return to the vet in 2 weeks to get her stitches pulled. She is staying away from the house (prison) and keeping a safe distance from me (prison guard).

Yamaha put in a new transmission (warranty) in the utility vehicle so the farm is all operational again and ready for the next catastrophe.

I thinking of getting a case of Trump Tonic and Hillary Hooch from Avery's Beverage and put them in our VFD fund raiser auction and see which one gets top dollar. That will be a fun bid to watch.

"Trump Tonic comes with the slogan, “Make America grape again.” It’s got a bolder flavor than traditional grape soda and is a bit more acidic, says Rob Metz, Avery’s general manager.

Hillary Hooch is a berry soda with ingredients that Metz jokes are classified.

“It’s not sure exactly what it wants to be,” Metz says. “So we’ve got some strawberry in there, we’ve got some blue raspberry in there and we added a bunch of lemon for bitterness.”

Was waiting for more info this am but none so far. My 92 year old Mother went unresponsive right after supper last night and they took her to the Er. They say her sodium levels were low, it has happened before. She was mostly back to normal by the time they got to the er. They called last night about 1:30 to get me to tell her she needed to be admitted, which I did. Have not been able to catch her this am as they are doing tests. Ed
Hang in there Ed, our thoughts are with you.
Keep us posted.

Ed, prayers and best wishes for your Mom.
Txdon, Prison Guard. Apparently you are not offering the best treats. Glad equipment is back running. I don't think I would bid on or drink either beverage.

Wonder if Hillary Hooch is loaded with artificial sweetness?

Drew, Glad you made it down 95 safely.

Everyone else, Have a good evening.

Well Mom got home today around 3:30. The Dr. had no idea what was wrong with her so he sent her home. She was laughing and telling jokes and appears back to normal. I just wish we knew what it was that was wrong. she was out of it and did not know when they slapped her in the face to wake her last night. Glad she is home and laughing again.

Thanks for the prayers everyone. They mean a lot.

Drew glad for a couple things. That you git home safe and that I did not have to drive I 95.:D

Don that is mighty good news about Wipper. Glad to hear it. Glad you got the trans fixed too. Ed

Glad your Mom is feeling better, Ed. My wife's brother that died a few years ago would get like that. Often it was something as simple as an infection.

Ed glad your mother is doing better I know that's a relief for you

Drew glad you made it back safe and sound 95 one dangerous road

Ed, Glad she is back to normal, it may be time to go over her med's side effects very carefully. We thought my Dad had a stroke when he could not get up and lost memory several years ago only to find out it was a the manifestation of a side effect of a drug he had been taking for a long time.

Don what you really need is some Theresa Tonic. We just got a new prime minister for this country, quite possibly the best person for the job and all without any tedious elections .

Good morning, I'm off to collect my sister and her husband to come and stay with us for a few days. When I first started to read TBN, I had never encountered an abbreviation for brother in law and thought Bill must be the most common name in America. :)

Ed, my wife has a lightweight stainless Dutch hoe that is great for loose soil, but I doubt it has enough heft to penetrate grass sod. How far below the surface should I be cutting ? I found the good old ash handled predecessor tucked away in the barn and sharpened it up, ready to try a thistle attack later. Good to hear your mom made such a good recovery so quickly.

53 right now...heading up to 85. Looks like we're going to have about 10 days of mid-80s temperatures ahead of us.
Mowed about half the lawn when I got home yesterday...then a bit of trimming. I'll finish mowing this afternoon...

Sounds like gorgeous weather Roy, put some in a bottle and bring it back out in January.
up too early but went to bed too early, tired from the drive, but didn't sleep long enough.
Woke up thinking about all the things I needed to do today.
that ever happen to anyone else? ;)
The making of mental lists, which for me are useless; need to write things down. Probably just getting older...

My sister gave me back the unused bush bean seeds that I had sent her after doing my own garden. Now my first crop is gone, time to plant another one.
Sure couldn't do this back in PA; here I can grow into October and November. Just a longer growing season but I'm told long enough to get two good crops in.
Remember I got the first potato planting frozen/killed off to the ground. So I planted along next to those rows. And every single one of them came up. Well, this weekend, along with some small children, it's time to harvest the potatoes. I'll make sure we get some pictures. A joyful Easter potato egg hunt for the kids.
A new friend down here gave me something for digging potatoes. Tool must be a hundred years old from the handle, a real antique from PA, where we both are from.
Basically a short handled curved pitch fork, six fingers sticking out to get under the potatoes and pull them up. I was going to use a longer handled tool so i didn't have to bend over but this will work down on my knees. Actually what is nice with the raised garden is I can sit on the flat wooden edge I made and reach almost to the middle of the garden. Next time, I make the raised garden less wide.

Today is also the day to dig my garlic. I'm either going to find about twenty nice cloves of garlic, three varieties, or nothing at all. Nothing left on top, have to dig them up from memory. Actually, that new digger I was given might work nicely. They say you can leave them in the ground, like potatoes but maybe I waited too long...
I've never planted garlic before and if there's nothing out there, might not again.

My tomato plants are gigantic, side arms an inch thick. Bent over almost all the metal supports; need to wire tie them all together today. I came home to all the tomatoes keeled over; must have had some wind here or they just finally keeled over under their own weight. Normal amount of tomatoes, fair amount of bottom rot.

eggplants needed picking; largest ones were getting wrinkled. Much smaller than I expected but it might be the variety. And maybe I should have culled a few off the vines; some were trying to make six eggplants. Now that's a load...
These are promised to someone who likes them; I don't. I just think they are beautiful vegetables.

71 going to 87.

Ed, glad your mom is home and better...good idea looking into interactions and side effects of medications.

After going to the gym yesterday and picking up the radiator hoses for the Kubota, got lazy and took a nap for the first time in a while. Today need to make up for it and get some tilling and mowing done.

The local weather guy is warning about the humidity and heat the next couple of days, so plan to pace it. Recorded a couple of John Wayne movies when Dish gave us free trial of the Westerns channel a couple of months ago....been saving them for a rainy day, but a triple H day will work just fine.
