Ed and anyone else, there is a good deal on a excellent pressure cooker on Amazon for today only.
Thanks for pointing this out, Don. Mine's on the way. I'd done a little Prime shopping earlier in the day, snagging a so-so deal on some blue jeans, but couldn't find anything else but clothes. Thought it strange, but when I followed your link there were lists for all sorts of things. A Lincoln air powered grease gun I purchased in 2012 was on "sale" for four dollars less than I'd paid then, several OK rated paper shredders (the auto on feature on my $30 Amazon special one doesn't work anymore), and oh so much stuff I had absolutely no use for. And every time I tried to use the search tool, the list of hits contained non-Prime sale merchandise. Needless to say, aside from the deal you found, I was not impressed with Amazon Prime day. But I am looking forward to sharing some recipes for the new cooker.:licking:
Pushrods not exactly working as designed.
Had something similar happen on a Ford Falcon Ranchero many years ago. Pushrod came off the rocker on several valves. Made a heck of a racket and lost a lot of power. Was coming through some hills with a motorcycle in the back, and had to pull over. Hitched a ride home, called a buddy with another truck, and with his help pulled off the rocker cover. Popped the pushrods back into place, put the valve cover back on, and the engine started and ran great. Never did figure out why the pushrod came off the rocker, and sold the truck as it was all pretty much of a wreck!
Don't worry, Eric, they just didn't have an icon for mixed sun/rain/snow!
Started yesterday by welding up the damage done to the front of the drip rails during the roof swap, which involved a lot of grinding to make the weld metal look like the what used to be there. Truth be told, all my welding seems to involve a lot of grinding! :confused2: And while I was there I finished up the roof pillar welding, something I was gonna let the body man do but it sounded like he was just going to weld it and smear body putty on to get the right shape, and now he won't have to mess with the weld. Then I welded up another hole in the driver side floor pan. Not sure why VW put it there, but it was another source of soggy carpets and rust. By then it was warm enough that soapy water felt nice to work with, and I spent most of the rest of the day cleaning the interior for painting. Took both doors off and hung them on the back porch, as that was the only way to really get paint onto the jambs. Also cleaned up the rotating bases for the seats that I'd scavenged from the camper. Those'll get welded in after the first round of paint goes on the interior, as once they're in place the inside of the seat bases will not be accessible and I really want them to be white.
Day before yesterday a new Ez-Up awing was delivered, and I took a few minutes to unpack it and set it up over the van. The instructions kept referring to a partner to set the thing up, but by making lots of trips between the four legs I finally got the thing together and the top on. Really made a difference in how warm it was working inside. It was also pretty easy to move around, but again I had to make a lot of trips to move one let a foot or two at a time. The nice thing was it was really quick to take down, and the wheeled carry bag makes moving the thing to storage easy, too.
Today I have a little masking to do before shooting the primer. So I need to get going before it gets too hot for the paint!
