Watching the sun come up this morning under tropical storm warming but where did she go where did she go! Plenty of rain last night got wet going and coming from dinner. Not much planned for today take it as it comes or goes. Wife and son still asleep and I'm enjoying the sunrise

59 and sunny, but rain and 82 on the way.

Garden is still too wet to retill or plant. Unbelievable that nothing is planted and it is already Memorial Day...so yesterday turned our old 12x15 compost pile into a garden. It is moist, but perfect for planting and full of dirt and manure from our horses from 5 years back as well as other composted kitchen scraps, etc. In fact, I turned up some nice potatoes as I was pulling out the plants that had sprouted. This is probably all we need right now to get out tomato and peppers planted, which we're headed out to do in a few minutes.

Well I'm gutted to hear that. No wonder I never did well in history at school. Next you will be telling me the Vikings didn't really wear helmets with horns sticking out :)

I didn't want to tell you this either but, you know the Tooth Fairy..........Well...........

Drew sun is shining here but wind and wave action are pretty strong and sound is a dull roar out of my window

67 this morning and headed to 84 today.

Once the wife gets up, I'll be headed to the chicken coops to start decrusting. Try to get that done while the hay is drying. Boy's been up since 4, so wife is already napping. Need to go get a jack and some baler twine.

Eric, our ground is really wet. Had some trouble cutting the low places yesterday. In fact had to skip about 1/4 acre because of standing water. First pass on it I about hung up. Wasn't thinking it would be that wet. So I will probably be putting a tedder on tomorrow. We'll have to see how it drys.

74.2F and partly sunny ... predicted high of 86F for today with the chance of thunderstorm or two.

Got a little weeding done in the cool of the morning yesterday - actually even more than the picture shows:

Let the garden area bake for most of the day, headed up there around 14:00. Got it all raked out ... still need to hit again with the box blade to smooth out some of the dips in a couple of places:

And I still need to dig out the 6 stumps and remove all the brush as well. And till it. And plant it.

Some of the brush and roots that I dug out and collected up:

Didn't get any steel cut tho' ...

Fuel pump for the Simplicity came in the mail yesterday at my friend's house, so I need to run over and pick that up and get it running again.

Beautiful again this morning, but by early afternoon tropical rains are supposed to move in. I see some low clouds moving in off the coast now.

Good morning, another beautiful day on the North Bluff. 72 heading to 84 with full sun.
Got to cut the grass around the house and then the thing at the some-day-maybe SIL’s mom and Dad’s house.

Enjoy your holiday and thank a Vet!!!!!

... Rswyan Sounds like fun making all of the equipment you make. ...
Yeah, I do enjoy it to a certain extent.

But it's also a mixed bag ... I'm limited as far as the tools I have available - which can make things challenging, and sometimes projects seem to just go on and on ... when I just wish they were DONE and I could actually use them.

Enjoy the new mattress ... ;)

House has rough-sawn cedar siding. It's older ... so some of the knots have popped out.

Noticed that there appeared to be yellow jackets swarming around one of the holes on the backside of the garage and that they have apparently taken up residence.

On closer inspection it seems they are honey bees ...

I would think that a bee-keeper might be interested in collecting these up ... although I don't know how practical that would be, given the siding.

If they really are honey bees I sure don't want to kill them ... but I don't want to leave them there either.

Thoughts ?

About the only way to get them out, save the queen, get the nest involves tearing holes in the wood. How easy would it be to pull some siding off? You might get someone to "smoke them out" but if the queen is happy it's difficult to get her to leave.

Good afternoon! 89 and cloudy. The water on the roads has receeded and left me without my usual routes to town. My two quickest routes have washed out roads so now I'll have to add another 5 miles as I detour around. Another round of rain is expected this week.

Because there will always be evil, cruel people in the world, we thank the people in the military for keeping us safe and and remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Online car shopping today. The costco dealer knocks off the shipping charge. The deal i walked out on yesterday was actually a better deal than costco, however the costco dealer said they would beat that price. Tomorrow i find out.

Rswyan Take a piece of screen wire and make a cone. The hole in the end should be the size of a bee or just a bit bigger. Fold the other end so that it can be stapled or taped tight to the house. The bees will come out and not find their way back in. It is an old honey bee trick.

The last night I thought the store has sent the wrong mattress, it was hard as a rock. This morning I went back to bed and it was softer somehow and I just got up from another nap and it felt pretty good. Ed

nb,

Pretty easy to remove the siding. Got a guy coming out Wednesday ... if they moved up into the attic he'll just suck 'em out with his shop vac. There's an access door to the crawl space in the garage.

Need to check that tomorrow morning.

If they're not up there I'll start pulling the siding.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
