Good morning!!!!

Good morning all. 50 this morning going to 83. Called for 77 yesterday and it got to at least 80 so I wonder what we will get today. Looks like some of you guys in the middle of the country are getting HAMMERED. Prayers sent, looks like you need it.

Hauled a load of household stuff yesterday am and before I got back my wife's nephew called to see if I needed help. I said sure go in the shop and start packing. When I got home he had a good amount packed and a large pile of stuff that could go without packing. I helped for a while and then got a call and had to go take care of something and when I got back the trailer was loaded and he was in the house playing my guitar and singing gospel songs cheering up everyone. So many young people won't work and don't know how to work and he is a good one. Did a great job, I am proud of him. He is coming back this am and we will tale this load and get another and take that one as well. At least that is the plan.

Have a GREAT day every one. Ed

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 54° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 83° with late afternoon thunderstorms. Did not get much done yesterday. Forgot about drivers license and plates needing to be renewed. Spent several hours at SoS office getting them renewed. So yesterdays project is still on the list.
Good Morning All.

I agree with Ed.
Wisdom endures if we listen hard enough.

World War II
Korea
Vietnam
Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis
Afghanistan
Iraq
worldwide terrorism
North Korea

Sad that Eric's Dad's last desires about peace and good will were not granted.
I wonder how many more generations it will take before those hopes are realized.
It's what good men go to war for, Peace.
So they can get back home faster to their families, jobs and lives.
Going Home. Powerful feeling.
and when you get there
Home Sweet Home

I simply cannot imagine how good it must have felt for my father and his brother to both come home from the Pacific Theater,so far away, and get out of the car door
and set foot back on our family farm. Oh what a feeling. With one of dogs running up in excitement.
Probably like the feeling when the soldiers returning to England saw the white chalky cliffs of Dover.

I am forever grateful and respectful of those in uniform who have put it on the line for me. In the past, and in the future.
Just like Eric's Dad. And appropriately we have a holiday coming up to honor them.

Good morning! 77˚ a warm morning, Cloudy heading to 86˚.

Ed the spider bite is less tender but otherwise looks about the same. This is 2 weeks after the bite now. The rash has gone, but when they say 6-7 weeks to heal they mean it.

Eric, and Dad, thanks for the look back at history, I enjoyed the morning stories.

David, do you have emergency flashers and do they work before you turn on the ignition. If not there is a problem before the ignition switch. Thats what was wrong with mine when the dash would not turn on. My short was a corroded (a two (small) wire connector) about 6" from the battery and was part of the wireing harness.

Whipper is tying to save me from more venom, she cornered this young copperhead yesterday evening, reminding me to watch where I walk and if the visibility is low wear snakeboots.

54 and sunny going to 87. Yippee. Drying time.

Got dry enough late yesterday that I could change my wife's vehicle oil yesterday.

Eric, I'm very appreciative of your sharing your father's war experiences. There are evil men in this world that must be stopped, but the cost can be tragically high. However, if not stopped would be unthinkable.

Good Morning! 53F @ 5:00AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 81F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Eric, thank you very much for sharing your Dad's memoirs. They are a priceless recollection of the events of his day, and a reminder of the sacrifices he and every member of our military make to keep us all safe. Our upcoming Memorial Day holiday isn't about picnics and kicking off the summer season...

Don, your spider bite seems to be taking its time recovering, but it also sounds like you're over the hump and doing better. Out here there are free classes people can take their dogs to for snake training so they learn not to get too close. The owners also learn about treatment options should a bite happen anyway.

David, my Kubota also has a cut out switch to prevent the starter from engaging unless the clutch lever is fully depressed. When combined with all the other nanny devices, it's a wonder the tractor runs at all.

Ed, your nephew sounds like a fine young man. Good to know there are still a few around.

Got in about an hour and a half of weed eating yesterday morning before my arms and shoulders forced a halt. By then my hands were tingling as well and were having trouble making fine movements. I'd also managed to sever the line from the satellite Internet dish with the sharp knives of the hedge clippers, so it was time to stop and play repairman. Fortunately the parts drawer had everything needed, along with some PVC tubing from which a shield was made to prevent it happening again. And there was still enough gumption left over to remove the headliner from the van. That clears the way to test fit the camper cabinets today, and locate and drill locations for the mounting hardware, and move and weld the nutplates from the old van to the new. But not before finishing the trimming I started yesterday, and perhaps spraying another few gallons of glyphosate to regain the upper hand on the ever sprouting weed population.

Happy Hump Day everyone...

67 this morning and headed to 85 today. Looks like we could see some spotty rain this morning.

Well birds are gone and everyone should have a good supply of chicken for the coming weekend. Need to move some hay equipment today then start washing chicken coops. Hopefully will be able to start cutting this weekend.

71 heading to 87 with sun.

Back to the south wall project. Face board is prepped and ready for stain. Just too darn hot in the sun to work on that south side. Same reason the stain there is the worst.

Erci, Would be nice if you could put all of those great stories in one spot.

   / Good morning!!!! #46,132
Eric, great stuff! Those men of that era, regardless of nationality, were men's men. I remember my dad telling me on one landing to re-supply, the LCM hit something and couldn't get any closer to shore. They dropped the ramp and he stepped into water over his head, in full gear. He said just as he was about to run out of air, a guy about the size of Clint Walker lifted him by his pack and shoved him forward, repeating that until he could walk with his head above water. Getting shot wasn't the only danger.

72° now and upper 80's later.

Spent several hours washing my new to me car, and always challenging trying to wash a black car in the
bright sun and not get spots. My friend who brought it down to me was hamming it up at his home and labeled
this picture British American Gothic. Please note his tshirt. A JD owner and certified Gravely Nut. Haven't yet got him to
come on this site.
Ok Drew now you have a black car you can spend your FREE time doing some paint correction, clay bar and three step make it into a mirror!! Here's a site with all the good info be careful it is addicting..

68.3F and partly sunny @ 09:30 .... high today is supposed to be 84F.

Loggers are back at it again this morning. Word was the gas company had him shutdown until (at least) this past Monday. According to the neighbor, who stopped down last night, they made him build a "bridge" across the gas transmission line in order to run the log skidder across it. I didn't hear any sawing yesterday but according to the neighbor's wife, someone was running a large dozer on the property.

Be curious to know if anyone from Summit Soil and Water Conservation District ever stopped by and had a look.

Have not heard the pileated woodpeckers since they started logging. And there are two or three hawks - one appears to be juvenile - that have seemed extremely agitated over the past 3 or 4 days. The parcel that is being logged is essentially in the center of a small woods, with wooded parcels on either side. Possible habitat loss.

Fuel pump for Kohler ordered courtesy of a friend ... who Ebay hasn't yet cast into the dark outer reaches ...

Yesterday was kind of a slow day as I was feelin' it from the day before. Did manage to get a little weeding done, and some leaves picked up. Also got about half the garage here at the house cleaned up and the Simplicity moved in for repairs. Did not get any spraying done.

Today's tasks include pulling the adjustable side link on the 3PH and installing the newly machined lower case for the ratchet mechanism that TBN member LD1 so graciously made for me. Also seeing if I can get the sprayer running and get any of that Roundup spraying done.

Will probably spend some time inside later modeling a new frame for the soil/gravel screen. It's currently made out of wood and has sat outside a lot ... to the point that it's had to be repaired several times, due to rot among other things. Figure it's time to cut to the chase and just build it out of steel. Already have some of the steel, just need to figure out how much square tube I need that I don't have and see if I can work it into the budget.

Beyond that, I might see if the area that I'm clearing for the garden has dried up enough to get the rest of the brush picked up out of the wet area and get it smoothed out and packed down before we get any more rain.

Probably should keep in mind that I need to get the area for The Woman's dahlias prepped as well.

Hoping for luck with my tractor today

Be safe
Have a great day

Sealer and top coat done on the fascia boards and the top seven rows of log. To hot to keep going so when that is dry I will wash the rest of the logs and end tails and get to them later. At least the cold water in the hose will feel good.

RS, never had much trouble with the FleaBay, I get a lot of model train things there. For other stuff I just put the part number only of what I am looking for into the search bar in a search engine like BING and most times I will get a lot of options on places to buy. I have found you can get burned on E-bay and Amazon if your not careful. Prices for the starter on the Gator ranged from $265.00 to $65.00 for the same part from the same manufacture. John Deere highest. A place on Amazon was lowest.

Well, egg on my face LOL
Turns out is WAS the battery.
After checking the seat switch (bypassed) I figured heck, check the battery voltage one more time. Vacillated between 6 and 7 volts aha
Swapped in the battery from my diesel pump (12.7) and it started right up.
You'd think a cheap Walmart battery dated 11/09 would last longer!!!!!!

I would consider myself fortunate to get almost 7 years out of it. Glad you got it going.

No eggs necessary. Just this morning I went to start one of my bikes and didn't even get a click, even though it ran fine last Thanksgiving and has been on and off a battery tender ever since. Started right up with a good battery in it.

I figure anything over 5 years on a battery is icing on a cake, and try not to rely on anything that is still using one that old. I also purchased one of the Harbor Freight battery load testers, and once a battery fails after a full charge, it gets replaced no matter how new.

should have been mowing today but played in the dirt instead...not a hard choice.
Settling next week on the adjacent acre of farm land, owner said fine for me to till it up today for weed control.
Another neighbor had been given a free Woods tiller, then he sold his tractor, so he gave the GT60 to me. I expected all kinds of issues but
it did a wonderful job pulverizing the soil down at least six or seven inches. Sandy soil is just marvelous to rototill...

Went downtown early and talked to the only import car repair place in town. Nice folks, nice attitude, I'll take the Jag in for them to change the coolant, tune it up, etc.
I was expecting to automatically change all water hoses due to being 12 years old but the owner said in his experience Euro hoses are better built as oem and easily last 15 years, usually.... I think I'd feel better if he changed them out, but they were still soft. At least the lower radiator hose. Seems many of these parts are German sourced.

Had my first edible pod peas in a salad tonight. Yum.
