Nice neighbor giving you that tiller. Time to plant something!
should have been mowing today but played in the dirt instead...not a hard choice.
Settling next week on the adjacent acre of farm land, owner said fine for me to till it up today for weed control.
Another neighbor had been given a free Woods tiller, then he sold his tractor, so he gave the GT60 to me. I expected all kinds of issues but
it did a wonderful job pulverizing the soil down at least six or seven inches. Sandy soil is just marvelous to rototill...
Had my first edible pod peas in a salad tonight. Yum.

Drew. What are you going to plant on that acre.
Don, is 0% fat free Greek yogurt with active cultures OK for your diet?
I finally got the time to mow the yard after about 2 weeks. I believe with all the rain, that it was the deepest I've ever had to cut it. Thick hibrid bermuda about 10" high. I mowed it back down to 2.5" with all the rain in the forecast this week. My 17 hp Kawasaki engined LT180 plowed through it.
I have to travel home tomorrow. My 86 year old mom has to have a pacemaker implanted. She was supposed to get it done in 2 more weeks, but apparently they did not like what they were seeing on her heart monitor. High beats per minute and high blood pressure. She is really nervous about this.

Good morning all. Like Kev, I was planning on a bit of painting this morning but as it's now raining I will have a second cup of tea and a rethink. Really I should be going at the weeds that are starting to take over the pasture.
I've gone all organic, not a drop of pesticide to be used. It wasn't something I planned to do, it's just that they changed the regulations for older people and now someone has to come out and watch a group of us each spray pure water, then pass a written test, before we can be let loose in fields again. Only problem is that there are a lot of people waiting to be tested and very few examiners. I reckon the thistles must have worked this out as they are emerging in places that were relatively weed free last year. They are all taunting me, forming perfect rosettes that would be ideal for spraying and keeping just below the height of a cutting blade.
Ed Have you planned where everything is going to go in your new workshop ? Some people would have the layout already modelled with animated 3D CAD drawings. I'm guessing you will be taking a more relaxed approach
I farmed 200 ac for 20 years and I used to take a hoe and chop each thistle of just below ground level. Took a while but it worked well if the hoe was sharp.
I have figured out that the wood shop is going in the basement and the sharpening shop is going in the main shop outside and the blacksmith shop will be in a shed on the south end. Where the mill and lathe are going only God knows. I just know that I have more tools and equipment that I have room for in any shop I can build in my back yard. Feel like the 20 clowns getting in a little car at the circus. Ed
