Took my 6 year old boy for a ride in the Gator while the sun was out. I have missed having the Gator running. It has been since October that it has been down.

Anyway, with all the rains, I was able to show the boy where all the water comes from for our pond, and where it goes. We saw a snake, a large turtle, and one of those fast sand/land lizards cross a ditch full of water about 8' across, (barely made it). They are so fast on land and can barely go in the water, although it wasn't for lack of effort. I bet he had his engine wound up to 10,000 rpm. :) We sure could've used a daisy red rider a few times. ;)

Not sure when tonight's storms are going to materialize, but after they got within 20 miles of the epicenter in their forecast, I'm going to believe what they say on tonight's news.

glad I live about 15-20 feet up from the high water mark.

Kyle, correct this has been a crazy 24 hours. We've had about 7" here so far and still raining. Looks like worst was east of here in Waller area, almost 20" in a couple of places. I'd love to get 20" of rain ....... over about 3-4 months.

Can you post or PM me link to the site you're getting the Colorado flow / level info from?

Thanks

We're high and dry here as well. The Weather Folks missed all this by 24 hours. They all bragged, this a.m, about how they'd been warning us since last Thursday but, never mentioned they said worst would be tonight, not last night!

I've tried this with our Grand Daughter and worked great for many years until middle school. We learned about birds, snakes, bugs, etc. No longer cool. She'll come around .... in about 10 years.

Indeed she will, at about that age we old ones become uncool until they get older and have a change when they realize they do not know as much as they think. Kinda funny took me until 29 to figure out my parents and grandparents knew more than I did and even tough they are gone now they still know more than I do

47 right now with some light rain...high of 57 today.

We can use a bit of that Texas rain here. There's a brush fire watch in this area...just enough rain to wet things down would be OK.

It is the section between Swift run gap at MM#65 to loft mountain at mm #79. From what I can see from my house it is on the west side of the drive. Just saw on line it is now visable from space. Ed

I went through that section Friday. Hope it gets under control soon.

Good morning all. 47 here at almost 6 am going to 82. That is what they said yesterday and I saw 90 in the early evening. Hope everyone is safe down in Texas and that their homes and other things are safe too. They are calling for showers Thursday through Friday. Hope we get some. Got to mow some more today. Have a great day. Ed

It is in a __________ __________ zone. That means they will let it burn until it gets out of the zone. They think the fire will help the forest. Not sure I agree but I am not an expert, just a pert. Ed

52 warm degrees going up to a whopping 86 today. I'd say Spring has sprung.
Next rain is Friday night into Saturday, and like others in the East, we could now use it.

Had such bad leg cramps from being on my feet too much yesterday I had to get into the hot tub at 2am.
Nice starry night out, and some extra muscle relaxants helped. Need to chill today, the arthritis that has gone into my feet
is complaining loudly. Maybe another reason to lose 20 pounds...

I have a few errands to run this morning, need to investigate some smaller sized tomato cages.

Good morning! 63
Still without internet service
My roads really washed on the second storm

Two quotes from the flood victim as we pulled our fire truck on the side of her little car to block the raging water and get her out:
"I'm not getting out of here into there."
"Don't touch me!"
????????
The third quote I cannot put on public internet. It wasn't foul just surprised me into wordlessness

Good morning. 10C/50F at 11:30am, feeling much warmer as the sun is out, no wind and I've been stone picking for the last hour or two. Time to get the garden furniture out again and have a comfy place to sit outside and ponder what really needs doing next and what can wait.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 64° with partial sun. Not much planned today except prepare for trip east tomorrow and more visiting with brother.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning! 62F @ 5:30AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 86F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Good to hear our Texas TBNers reporting in safely, but it's alarming to hear that fires are already a problem in the east. It's only April for cryin' out loud!

Spoke again with the tech support person about the flail mower drive shaft; he wanted to know how long the one on the mower is so he can get the next size up on the way to me. Hope to get tracking info later today.

Good conversation with my bulldozer neighbor, and he's interested in doing the ground prep for a new shop building here. He also had some ideas for taking some of the slope out of the driveway, and suggestions for a general contractor. So it looks like that project may be getting underway soon as well.

He also gave me the phone number for another neighbor that is a pro paint and body man, and he and I are planning to meet later this week at the mechanic's place to plan next steps for the Vanagon. With that info in hand (head?) we should be able to determine the sequence of mechanical and cosmetic work needed.

Got most of the left over food put into the freezer and started in on a general kitchen cleanup. Didn't finish before I stopped for a nap. The weekend's late nights really are catching up to me.

Hope everyone enjoys the day!

54 this morning and headed to 82 today. Saw 89 yesterday. Rain moves in tomorrow night into Thursday.

Watched the neighbors field get planted yesterday. 40 acres took him about 2 hours. 24 rows at a time.

Need to get things ready to migrate the chickens. Then maybe back to building. Did put 2 windows in yesterday.

Floods in the south and fires in the east. Neither are good. Stay safe.
