Good Morning! 68˚ and dark and quiet. I was just thinking all is calm till I read Ed's post about us getting more rain and I checked the radar and WOW:eek: we are going to get slamed again in a few hours, it looks like a tital wave is comming from the Northwest. I was going to go to town but if I do I might not make it back till the low water crossingings recede and that takes about 12 hours. All the pond are still overflowing and the creeks are full. Thanks for the heads up Ed.

Good news - after 4 hours and changing out the antenna my Internet is up.
Bad news - Carwash pressure washer broke again a few months back.
Good news - BP sent a replacement pressure washer motor/pump a month ago, finally got aroung to replacing it.
Bad news - as soon as I turned it on the new pressure washer blew a brass reieif plug. I guess I should have not turned the pressure adjustment knob to high. The warranty has expired and now I have 2 broke pressure washers that are simular, but not simular enough to exchange parts to make one working one.
Bad news - no place local carries the plug that blew because the thread is BSP - British Standard Pipe.
Good news - found replacement plug on newly working internet but it will be May 4 before the plug arrives.

Glad I could help a little. Stay dry and Hope things go well with the pressure washer. Ed

Good morning all. Looks like we are set for sunshine again all day today. I saved on sun screen cream by spending yesterday afternoon inside the tractor cab and then blew away that saving by pushing the air conditioning button. Ok, I admit I could have been comfortable by just turning the fan up instead, but more than a year after getting this Iseki the novelty of having a cab, let alone air con, still hasn't worn off.

My neighbour was spreading too. Not so much wind here so the smell creeps up on you, hides for a while, then comes back again once you got used to having fresh air again. At least I should be thankful his once green, now painted brown, field is only 18 acres. :)

They came and disced it under late yesterday, that pretty much does in the smell, and today the wind has switched.

Got to 83° yesterday, around low 70's today.

59F and sunny @ 11:00 ... high today is supposed to be 72F. Chance of shower very late and then cloudy tomorrow with a few showers here and there. Same for Friday.

Just when the ground was starting to dry out a little ...

Need to start thinking about mowing the grass.

The wend changed here too. The place is full of smoke, hate to think about the people living closer. We live about 25 or 30 mi away by road, maybe 20 miles as the smoke flies. Ed

Making vegan sloppy joes for supper. Never tried this recipe before so we will see how it is when wife gets home from town. Quiet on here today, hope everyone is having a great day. Ed

Today used the tractor to rake out some dead snarls, then hooked the mower an cut a couple of acres, filled the truck with some of the crap I've been raking, then a bit of chainsawing, the some lawn tractor cutting, oops then more sawing and the big dead tree went in the creek so I had to jump in to hook it to the tractor, and finally cut it up and dumped it by the woodshed. Lot of work for a retired guy😀

We make our from lentils, what is your base?

Only had a 1/2" rain today but it all ran off, the ground is saturated. Going on a dewberry hunt.

Full 1" here. Like you everything running off here. Everything squishy and tractors parked.

Yep I made mine out of lentils too, turned out pretty good if you take in account that I had to make do with what I had instead of what was called for. Wife said we will make it again.

The wind changed about 1:00 and the smoke went else where. They say the total acres burned is 5600 now. Tx Don do you have any rain you could spare? We sure need some. Ed

air quality alert for "fine particulates". RNG, what are you smoking that's coming my way?
They don't specify the source, pollen is high but the pines are quiet at the moment, so nothing spectacular when it comes to pollen.
so what are the particulates from? Western fires?

worked hard outside really a beautiful day. I worked in the garden, planted the last of the potatoes, and then used the weedeater/rotary cutter
out by the road to continue to clear the banks. Used the Homelite battery chain saw quite a bit to cut small stumps close to the ground. It's good for anything up to about three inches; beyond that it will do it but it's just the wrong tool. It starts every time and i have a freshly sharpened chain each time. Works as advertised; just not a production/commercial saw. It's my go to saw for sawing into the dirt; easy to fix the dulled chain by pulling back on the lever and watching sparks fly for a few seconds. I'm still on my first chain so have no idea how long it lasts.

Got the entire orchard fertilized and then any trees not blooming I sprayed with orchard spray.
Then I said enough and soaked in the hot tub for quite a while. And had a big salad and yogurt for dinner.
Which will allow me a guilt free trip downstairs later to finish off the rest of the ice cream. Bought for company only; after they leave, well...

Been gone most of the day, Just got home and ate, One big stump is gone. It was good to see Bud ( my friend Mark's dad ) but three hours almost to get there. I left my stump grinder with Mark to do a few he needs to get done in Plainfield. So not much else to say about the day other than I hate driving into Peopleville. So glad to get 3 miles west of Plainfield back into the fields. I hate the Chicago metro area!!!!!!!!!!
Have a good night.

Sure wish I had one of those A/C buttons on my tractor. I might would never go in the house.

We had 2" more inches here this morning, that makes 8" total since late Sun night. The nutsedge has reclaimed my garden...frustrating . they said if you dig down five feet deep and then screen every Speck of dirt to pull out all the nodules and then burn them in a pile you might be able to get rid of it.

Sounds like some really nasty stuff

Working today on turn lane nothing like standing/working in one lane while traffic goes by at 60mph right beside you. Construction zones not so safe for workers in today's face paced society

Got out the deck furniture today, scrubbed all the cushions, set it all up. Now I have to go to bed so I can get up in time to drive to Front Royal by 10: am.

Good morning. Another ground frost this morning, the sun was up long before I went outside and found it hiding in the hollows that are still in shadow.

Many people are putting off retiring, even when they get to the point where their pension savings should be enough to live off for the rest of their lives. We have one little old lady, running a family business, who could long ago have afforded to pack it in and take life a little easier, yet she is still working, even though she is celebrating her 90th birthday today.

Some of you may have heard of her - her name is Elizabeth Windsor, although most of us in this country just call her the Queen . Not sure if she will have time to read TBN today, what with looking after the best interests of a nation AND blowing out all those candles, but if you do Ma'am, Happy Birthday. (Ok, I know I'm supposed to say Your Majesty, but that's way too formal for the Good Morning thread - I'm sure she won't mind really :) ).

That sounds like a pretty good day outside. If you are retired, you should be allowed to play in the creek - you shouldn't have to drop a tree in there for an excuse. :)
