Drew, great memories of pulling kids around in cart behind tractor.
I cleaned up the UTV and will put them in back...

very windy, gusts over 30mph, got most of my to do list done but washing the truck meant more in my face than the truck with the wind so I just squirted it off and dried the windows.

what kind of critter is leaving these odd mounds in the soft mud? Not ants...a vole? small quarter sized hole in center

Crawdads.

Drew. Looks like a crayfish mound.

you mean the same crayfish critters one thinks of from Louisiana?
Perhaps i should set traps and have a barbecue...
They must be pretty far down to make a mound that high. Lot of displaced mud.

32.1F and mostly cloudy @ 12:30 ... winds have been gusting pretty good. High today expected to be 43F. That's about 15F below normal.

Got a couple inches of snow last night/this morning ... hopefully that will be the last of it for the season.

I managed to make it back up to the shop last night ... which is a fairly rare event these days. Didn't knock off until 02:00 ... and I slept like a log. Woke up feeling like someone had beaten me with a stick ... :D

Loaded the DBS with some hardwood (apple) and then banked it before I came down ... be interesting to see how warm it stayed. I'll be happy with anything in the high 40's ...

Updated grapple thread last night before I hit the rack ... quite a few pics ... including some with it mounted on the tractor.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

The removal of the old rusted bent cattleguard and the install of my parents new 18'X8' cattleguard went exactly as planed. 2 tractors, 10 hours. I'm so tired. Perfect Day. Photos below. The finished pictures are the rough-in photos, I still have another 4 hours to smooth everthing out and install a gate holding post.

Now THAT's some fancy tractor dancin'!

Good Morning! 57F @ 10:45AM. Cloudy with showers. Thunder possible. High 61F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

No rain last night, just a few pitter patters on the porch cover. So far nothing this morning either, and what showers there are south of here seem to be moving to the southwest. I'm pulling out the broken record because the area is still below normal, even with all the rain that came down in March. Still extreme drought conditions.

Got the rocks and gravel scraped off the driveway yesterday, all banked over to the uphill side. Was hoping for some of that ran to dampen the dust, but so far it's a no show.

How nice to sleep through the night instead of baby sitting software downloads. Almost feel refreshed this morning.

Been reading through the tech articles at the GoWesty sight, and as I was hoping the pitfalls with these Vanagons seem pretty well mapped out and good aftermarket fixes are available. A couple more hours reading and then I'll have a conversation with the Vanagon mechanic to nail down a few cost details. Unless that leads to a surprise, I'll likely give the green light on the project. I think building this thing is gonna be almost as much fun as using it.

Have a great weekend, guys!

Yep. It'll be a different species or sub species. But same animal.

Drew, we had lots of those Crawdads (Correct pronunciation for those over 50 in the deep South). We would tie a piece of bacon on a string and when they would clamp down on the bacon we would gradually pull them up. We never thought of eating them. I put them the same category as spiders.

Just got the tractor home in time, it is raining.

Just woke up from an hour nap, it will have to do but I would have liked longer. :D Windy here, very windy. Ed

I keep patching my FIL's rear engine snapper every year. He keeps breaking the steering linkage/shaft assembly when he snags a wheel on something. I need to put a bumper on it.

Great job Don.

We are going to introduce coconut in the form of coconut ice cream treats. Something/Anything to try and get her to like the flavor.

I love you're mom's saying, I will borrow that if you don't mind. :)

Kyle use it anywhere at any time you like. You know some of the things we were told by our parents were just a conversation piece at the time and had no ideal they would mean so mush later.

Some tractor time today,
Well just finished up doing 60 ton of the gravel, that makes 80 ton so far. F#$@(*& can't even see it. (where does it go????) Tomorrow we will do the other 60 ton he has at his house. Yeah, Why gravel today,,,,he was tending to a family friend in the hospital with heart issues so he just got the material when he could and dropped it at his placed figuring on doing it when he could. His place is only about 1.5 miles from ours. I can see already 140 ton ain't going to cut it. Will need about 40 ton more to get it high enough for the water to run off and not down the drive. I can't say much I knew I cut it short 12 years ago so I just want to make it right and be don for awhile. Heck what I have has lasted 12 years, Price of living in the woods. . He is putting a semi load in the 10 wheeler for the short trip here. That old Mack knows it is there.

Went to the Tee ball game today, three hail storms, rain and wind, then we went home and ate BBQ chicken from the Little League fund raiser. Windy, rainy and cold tonight, so far.
And btw, them little critters are crawfish where I come from.

Cold, windy and snowing today. Really want winter to go away. Helped my wife at her shop, then back home to do the chores. Took a look at my bee keeping equipment, I am thinking of getting some bees again. I need to act quickly, as it is getting late in the year.

White crunchy fields this morning, -3C/26F here in Shropshire. Feed racks were completely empty, with a queue of ewes asking what took me so long to get up and give them more to eat. Now me and the dog are back in the house we are wondering if we should help ourselves to breakfast. Our son and his girlfriend are over to pay us a visit. Neither they or my wife have yet stirred. Have found some food left over from last night's meal, anyone else fancy home baked apple pie for Sunday breakfast ?

Hopefully some grass mowing this afternoon

I have bacon sizzling on the stove, but I'd start off with pie any day

30 degrees out, wonder what little plant is throwing its tendrils in the air and yelling "I'm moving to Larro's!"
