I can't help it Drew. :D As I am working on my garden and thinking of how people live in such nasty cold. I could be a "Snowbird" easily. You are kind of in the middle with the best and worst of both sides, that way you know which you dislike worse... heat or cold.

Vet coming by today, so will be wrangling horses, cows, and goats... spring time worming. Lots of fun, anyone wanna come help?

Kev, I guess we'll get our "revenge" in July or August when you hit 90/90 or more. Of course, we hit those temps and humidity here some days.

I'm seeing the hog wire used more and more in central TX mostly to keep the wild hogs out instead of the livestock in. We do not use the word "Nettings". I have smaller areas that I use it and buy it in 16' panels. We call them cattle panels. We also use them for our our cattle round up pens. Most of the new fences are still 6 wire barbed wire fence with either cedar posts or a combination of treated and steel posts. The corners and ends are H braces.

Funny, as I read this post about hog wire (we use that, too) I'm seeing an ad on the right side of the monitor for fencing from AliBaba.

I love hearing stories like this and communities like this.
We have never been visiting Don when the church had their dinner. But did one in his local town. Drive up to the side door. Someone comes out and takes your order. Few minutes later out comes your order. Food was very good. Never seen one like that near our home in MI.

Today was 2 different days, winter this morning and spring this afternoon. Poured on the way to work, still icy in spots. Sun out this afternoon, windy around 50°, robins in the yard, driveway melted.

The UK doesn't seem to be able to afford it's own weather, so we get quite a lot passed on from other countries. Occasionally the forecasters get worked up about who had it first. That happened earlier this week, when we were told to expect something coming our way from over the Atlantic - a cold snap discarded by Canada. Oh no, my thermometer doesn't go that low !

I needn't have worried, those of you living in Canada must have kindly sucked out the worst of the cold out before passing it on and with a good bit of warming from the ocean it has arrived here this morning as slushy rain.

45 now in the early hours, going to 75 today. Have some people coming by to get some wood out of the field, they want rotten wood for gardening. I am not sure I understand, but I will be talking to them in detail. I also hope to put in a water line to the garden. Probably use the sub-soiler to do the trenching.

That's a doozy. side shiftable.

Don, they don't throw rocks like other mowers for one.

A friend of mine that uses a flail mower in his vineyard would disagree. Apparently it's quite good at hurtling chunks of vine trimmings quite a ways. He still favors it over the Bushhog type rotary cutters, but mostly because it chops the trimmings much finer, making a better mulch. Even so, he makes sure no one is in the vineyard when the flail is running.

I was going to plow when I got home yesterday, but since I didn't get home until late (had a conference call with a customer) and I was concerned the walks and drive would be too icy this morning, I held off...and, I might hold off for another day or so since we're not going to be above freezing until Friday.
I can walk on ice atop the snow, since it'll break through. I can't walk on ice...

36 going up to 55 today in a somewhat cloudy day.
Assuming it is ready, I am headed off later this morning with my trailer to pick up the 275 gallon diesel tank and pump about an hour away. I'd rather get it and deliver it to the spot; if they bring it, likely a big truck and more ruts. I can bring the trailer up the driveway, then hook it up to the Gravely hitch and then take it down right next to where it will be installed. Then later this week my helper will be here and he can get it off the trailer onto the concrete. And then I call for the fuel oil truck.

75 degrees Kev, geez better hydrate well...;)

Do you have a picture of the tank or a web site where one can view what you purchased Drew?

28 headed to 49 and some sunshine.

Ground is super mushy with a big rain yesterday on top on almost 3 inches of snow, but a light frost on top today.

Plan to put finishing touches on taxes today and some other finance items. Also, when I get back from the gym, need to roast some coffee...got a new shipment of green beans yesterday - a couple of types I'm keen on trying.

Roy and Thomas - careful on that snow/ice!

Good morning! 43˚F, 6˚C heading to 73˚F, 23˚C, sunny. It's getting dry again. The afternoon temps in the 70s all week have the cedars almost ready to bloom and yellow pollen will be over everything.

Wngsprd, how do you roast the beans?

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 88° with lots of warm sun. Not much planned today. Phoenix is forecasting 90+° today. That will be earliest 90° temperature ever recorded in the area.
Good Morning All.

Wood based compost makes a great ground cover for your garden. Keeps the soil cooler and helps with water retention as well as the actual nutrients when it rots. Most people just use wood chips though.
