Hmm. Wonder if this event had anything to do with post on TBN.
Alligator tossed into Wendy's drive-thru window.

Definitely not! Christy gators are 4'+. The one at Wendy's was only a measly 3 ft. If he would have seen the Christy's gator he would have been too embarrassed throwing around that little lizard.

Just went to the fire station and did a drill with the crew around this time of day - yep that would be zero. Unplugged some nozzles, squirted water, and drove some country roads. A short sleeve kind of day. Oh yeah, hit the siren also, woo woo!! We get our new air packs in later this week. With the lighter packs I think I will un-retire my interior firefighting skills and get in there and "get it". The old packs are the old heavy "elephant" air packs. They will be for sale (cheap) as collector items - very good condition hardly ever used.

Had about 6 or 7 C17 Globemasters buzzing our area at 6:30 AM this morning. One of them made 3 slow and low circles around our sleepy little town. We are nowhere near an air base.

I would like to know what is going on....

Got the wallpaper stripped, except for behind the bed headboard.
The steam really did the trick, well worth buying. cleaned some other dirty spots also.

Kyle;

Closest C17's are at Altus AFB in SW Oklahoma. Did you diss someone in Oklahoma? :)

We have C5A's and C 17's pretty much every day, I'm 50 miles south of Dover as the crow, or C5 flies.

I got some video. We have a hometown pilot that flies big stuff for the airforce, but that could maybe explain 1, but there were many, and 1 of them made a few low and slow circles around the town. Last year, they had that controversial Jade Helm operation about 20 miles west of me. I only saw a little bit o'stuff that go around.

Man, those things are powerful. They weigh something like 282,000 lbs. Can haul an M1 Abrams tank.

Yep, the C17 Globemaster III's have replaced the C141 Starlifters but, the C17's are still baby C5 Galaxies.

So the C5 is bigger than a C17?

The locals reaction to the jade helm thing was covered in the media pretty widely. My dad told me that when he was in the army in the 50's, they would run around the German countryside in tanks. There would be a crew following them, paying the locals for damages. Sometimes the locals would wave a bottle of hooch, pointing at a shed they wanted knocked down. The life expectancy of the unit in the face of a full Soviet assault was something like 30 minutes. I don't think we have ever had military drill in this country on civilian property like they do in Europe. We have the land for reservations for that stuff. Mostly they don't.

Woke up to a clear, dark blue sky this morning. Sunshine and not a spot of rain all day yesterday too, yet friends and family in neighbouring counties told us they had heavy rain. The new Berghaus jacket can remain hung on it's hook while ever it can work magical water repellent charms like this.

25 and a little snow on the ground, heading to 40.

I don't know my military planes, but we had one of those large cargo carriers fly low over our house last week, which is unusual around here.

Drew, how are things looking now that your rain flood has likely subsided?

Was not familiar with Berghaus brand...don't think they carried by any of our local outdoor suppliers...but looked at their website...very impressive company and smart products.

29 degrees going up to high 30's today in much colder weather. And the weather forecast has the dreaded S word in it! 1-3 inches of snow predicted for Friday.
Boy will that send everyone here in a tizzy.

Billy, the bottom section of my new culvert started to fall apart a bit after almost five inches of rain, the top looks perfect. Funny, I thought it would be the other way around. So I'm still thinking of what to do to make the ends of the culvert permanent, without doing something really complicated. I don't like my helper's idea of using bags of cement stacked on each other.
Can't imagine that looks nice, but I don't know. I'm thinking I might get some concrete block and go that way. Then I'll take a pic of Don's bridge, hand it to my helper and say "do this"....;) my helper has masonry experience so he might try. I could probably build something out of 6x6's also.

Am hoping the water went down fast enough that the tree roots are no longer sitting in water. Everything is still really waterlogged here. But thankfully, that last storm did not have much wind, so little tree damage. The orchard was wet but not flooded, the critical issue. Just buckets and buckets of community trash floating up my driveway backing up from the street. I should get a sanitation engineer tshirt...

actually looking at Buppie's avatar each day, I can see one more reason to invite his company to my place for a week.
fix my driveway and build some beautiful stonework.

I just have so many projects that I'm trying to simplify some of them
and not very successful at that.
Maybe because I want it nice...
I'm the owner of my property but I'm also the caretaker.
If I'm here another ten years I'll be lucky with my health.

That's a problem with not having kids. No one to leave your pride and joy to...

Couldn't get on TBN this morning while I was at home, so I'm here at work typing my morning post.

It's 15 degrees in Bethel (19 degrees in Charlestown NH (where I work)). Forecast for Bethel is a high of 38 and maybe some snow showers.

Looks like some pretty significant snow coming our way next week.

I think about that also. I do have a wife, so I want to leave her in a good position, so I try to make it so there is little or no maintenance. I have planted trees that will be enjoyed by somebody's grandkids, but I like the idea. I have some stuff from my grandparents, I really don't know what will happen to it.

Roy, you get snow, we are getting bone chilling cold here this weekend, forecast revised, going below freezing Friday night in snow, and not getting above freezing until Monday afternoon. That means what comes down will stick instead of melting, which it almost always does.
Normally I'd think great for the kids and sledding, but not sure where the nearest hill is here...;) everything is really flat.
A whole weekend of the white stuff. Fun, particularly when you don't have to shovel it and it melts all by itself. Of course if I get accumulations on sidewalk I guess now I'll be shoveling with the rest of you. Snow shovel way up on the wall in the barn. Out of the way. No use for it. sigh
