Yep, the C17 Globemaster III's have replaced the C141 Starlifters but, the C17's are still baby C5 Galaxies.

They ended up dropping 800 paratroopers from Ft Bragg NC, over Ft Hood, TX. Some type of training exercise. Now they are training with FT Hood ground troops and then flying back to Bragg to drop there.

Good morning! 37˚ sunny skies heading to the 60s.

I was just about to call Harvey for Bird's number when I saw his post. I knew this would be a tough operation for Bird and recovery would take a while. I was glad to see he is doing good. Harvey's also updated us on his wife's cancer treatment - a long process - we wish them both the best possible outcomes.

Today at 4 (central time)
Steve Harvey is a real match maker. After talking alligator, He sets Christy up on a date. Preview:

So the C5 is bigger than a C17?

.

Yep, C5 can carry 118 ton payload and C17 can carry about 76 tons. So, 2 Abrams tanks for C5 vs. 1 for the C17.

Here's a C5 ingesting a C130.

Roy, you get snow, we are getting bone chilling cold here this weekend...

Yeah, of course "bone chilling cold" in the southeast is tee shirt weather in Vermont...

   / Good morning!!!! #42,448
The cold is already here,

10 going to 19 cloudy.

Hope to get the grout done on the tile we did yesterday today and mark this one off the list.

daugen, is the culvert you are having the problem with plastic or steel? I have found that all of the plastic ones want to bow up on the ends. I was thinking of digging down on the sides of the ends and building a frame then filling it with concrete. In hind site I should of bucked up the money for steel ones in the first place.

Good Morning. 0815, sunny, 34F with 56% humidity. Forecast high of 52F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 34F tonight. I'm doing the house cleaning thing this morning. This is a good day to stay inside anyway. I have a pot of peas on cooking, and am thinking about chili too.

Hope to find time to get some pepper and tomato seeds in soil {inside}. I did plant some of my acorns yesterday {outside}. I ran out of daylight before I got any palm nuts planted. I think I still have some old Dogwood and Bald Cypress seeds in the shed from 11-12 years ago. Need to find them and see if they will pop. I've decided to get back into my tree planting hobby. I stopped when we moved from town because it had turned into a job {ie. I was getting paid}

You guys have a good one,

Larro

Yesterday I heard a funny segment on John Boy and Billy's Big Show {Charlotte NC based, Nascar centric morning drive show on the radio} about Payton Manning's post game plug for Bud. {He owns two Anheuser Busch Distributorships} Either JB or B was saying how lucky Payton was to be able to get a free beer ad seen by millions of folks. The other one said the real lucky thing was the fact he owned 23 Pappa John stores and Colorado made pot legal. Talk about having a built in advantage:licking:

Good Morning! 54F @ 6:30 AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 72F. Winds light and variable.

Nice M/C ride into town yesterday, stopping by favorite shop. Picked up some brake quieting pads and a couple screws for the plastic fairing that had been replaced with the wrong ones by the PO. Funny stories from other customers, one of whom was leaving for two weeks in Baja. Hope he doesn't run into Montezuma. Looks like t-shirt weather will stick around into next week.

When C5's come over low it sounds like a herd of 1950's Oliver tractors coming, whine is tremendous. The 141's were cool planes but not nearly as big.

I love John Boy and Billy, took them off here years ago, not politically correct. Well no ****!

mkr, I'm headed down there now to take a pic but the double wall plastic pipe is very strong, not an issue with bowing down
but rather the stone is falling off the ends near the pipe. I need retaining walls for the stone of some sort.
Wouldn't be hard to sink some pressure treated footers and make it out of wood but I think I want to go with something
more permanent. Like block. Then the question is what to cover the block with for aesthetics.
Maybe just go vertical and fill them with redimix and rebar and drive some rebar
several feet into the ground below. All in the shape of a turtle...;)

16 this morning and headed to 26 today. Chance of snow comes back into the forecast tonight up to another inch.

Schools are out again today. The side roads in the northern part of the county were still bad last night. School system is either open or closed here. Superintendent refuses to do a delay or early release. Waiting for the early release policy to bite him.

Some work in chicken coops today and then back to taxes.

Allergist wasn't nice yesterday. Doubled my allergy meds and gave me an inhaler. Mild Asthma and some severe allergies. Not allergic to chickens, dogs or cows though. Just trees, grasses, weeds, mold, dust and cats. Don't have a cat so that's good.

Drew. Might try some rip rap.
