Good morning! 35˚ heading to a sunny 65˚.

The tension arms in some new Hustler Z mowers were breaking and I got a recall notice. They put a heavy duty one on yesterday while I waited and fixed my fuel gauge so I'm good to go, except for a tiny leaks in the tire. I'll put some Gemplers tire sealant in it today. I noticed my front tires were covered with sand burs the last time I mowed, just didn't think a sticker could puncture through the rubber.

Larro, I enjoyed listening to Dan Hicks...had totally forgotten about him.

I finished my new woods trail yesterday...named it the Holly trail since it passes through so many...I saved as many as I could, but had to cut down some small ones. I ended up with about a third of a cord of firewood, so I still need to gather that once the ground dries more or freezes. I'm a little sore this morning.

Eric, hope you get to like your new coat as much as your old.

Good Morning. 0725, sunny, 38F with 58% humidity. Forecast high of 51F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 32F tonight. Not as much frost. Too much wind I guess.

I'm running to Marianna Toyota this morning to get the cranking battery changed out. Then try to plant some acorns in the afternoon. Today and tomorrow are good planting days, so I'll start a few pepper and tomatoes too. So far I have five each of Jalapeno and Mini Sweet Peppers up and almost tall enough to top. But space under the lights is limited, and I have about ten types of pepper seeds, so I can't do but a few of each.

I like the way the new 2017 Ridgeline looks compared to the older one and that the advertisement is meant for those over 19 (Unlike Toyota Tacoma).

20 this morning and headed to 28 today. About 2 inches of snow over night. Wife and boy are home today. Forecasts of another inch by tomorrow afternoon. Weatherman says this low has lost the jet stream and won't be moving anywhere fast.

Chores in the chicken coops this morning. Then off to the allergist to let her do a scratch test. Had a neighbor come over yesterday and show me where a waterline runs. I tried finding it over the weekend and couldn't. His dad was the previous owner that built this place. He ended up having to call him but I now know where it runs, still have to dig it up. Will wait for the next thaw I guess.

I was going to meet two friends for lunch but one got sick and called off. So now I don't have any plans. Guess I will just stay in and cook wood.

We lost another musical icon this week. Most of you probably never heard of Dan Hicks {and his Hot Licks}, but he laid the ground work for the San Francisco sound of the late 60's. He joined The Charlatans as a drummer in '65, then formed Hot Licks in '67. They were the house band at a little hippie bar in Virginia City Nevada, the town better known as the watering hole for Hoss and the rest of the boys from the Ponderosa. But enough of the young musicians from San Francisco heard them to start one of the major branches of American music. This was always one of my favorite Hicks songs.

Saw Dan & his Hot Licks at the Palamino in the Los Angeles area in '79, while visiting for a job interview. Turned down the job, but been listening to his music ever since. He's another one that will be missed.

Good Morning! 60F @ 8:30 AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 71F. Winds light and variable.

Record high temps in the North Valley yesterday, in the low 80s in Redding. Very nice working in the garage, for the first time it was colder in the garage than outside, so I was able to open all the doors and let things warm up a bit.

Good morning all. 32F This morning going to 60F clear breezy but less wind than yesterday. More consulting today. yesterday's ride delayed for wind, and clean up firewood pile, and putter chores on TMA list.

29.8F and overcast @ 11:45 ... cold and will get colder.

Got my hair cut and drug the razor across my face yesterday.

After that I was browsing craigs and found someone nearby had posted an ad for aquatic plants they raise. The plants looked really nice and were stupid cheap, so I texted them and placed an order for some water wisteria, ludwigia repens, java fern, java moss, and 10 ramshorn snails. I met them yesterday afternoon, halfway, @ the Dollar General to pick up my order ... nice young couple.

Currently have the plants in a 5 gal Homer bucket, need to dip them today to rid them of any hitchhikers and then move whatever is going into the 55g into it, and the rest into the 10g. The snails were put into the 10g, since I know they will reproduce and I don't want the 55g getting overrun with them. Also got all the washed gravel moved upstairs to the living room and got the other side of the shelf stained.

Got a nice surprise as well - the electric bill for January was down a good bit vs. the December bill ... and both were actual readings. Kinda a surprise, given that I had two heaters for the tanks running.

So to celebrate that, I ran over to Home Depot and picked up another 10 LED bulbs. This time I got three 100w equivalent bulbs for the living room, and moved the 60w's that were in there into the fixtures in the hall, which really lit up the hall ... kinda surprising, in that the bulbs in the hall were 60w incandescent.

Also picked up a 3/4" brass ball valve that I have to sweat on the feed pipe going to the water softener ... managed to snap the handle off that yesterday, when I was trying to close it to change the sediment filter.
