33 going up to 40 day, much cooler day with nice weather for next two days, then a great deal of rain predicted for Friday. That means I have two days to finish cleaning up the field ruts in the mud before that rain comes in. On the job....
Headed off to TSC this morning with the trailer to get a 20 foot section of culvert pipe. Double wall plastic, seemed pretty sturdy. And then one more truckload of ABC and I can remove my little temporary bridge and get something permanent put in there. Today off goes the bucket and on goes the forks as I try to lift the old broken bridge out of the water diversion ditch. It broke in one area where the wood was clearly rotted; not sure anyone is going to be able to use this thing until a lot of wood is replaced. They sell them for $600 for muddy areas where they are clearing trees but I rented mine for 100 bucks.
Knowing what I know now, which for sure is often the case...I would have started out with sand, a culvert pipe, then ABC and then some 57's or nice stone. I got it all backwards...well it's nicely mixed together now near the barn. And if it was all too easy, I wouldn't have job security, right?
All's well that ends well...
Could be a muddy day getting the 8x8 cribbing out from under that broken bridge. Lot of good lumber under there, needs to get powerwashed and re-used. Curious to see how far into the mud that concrete truck pushed the whole thing down. Will take pics.
less swelling in my jaw this morning, yeah, penicillin seems to be doing its thing. Funny, I haven't taken penicillin in forty years. But that's what the oral surgeon said to use. I had already had one course of higher tech antibiotics; maybe he wanted Old Faithful?
