It is 32 going to 61 today. I am almost jealous of you guys with snow, you get tractor time in the winter. All I get is moving hay around.

So Farmer, if you run a million chickens a year through your place, do you eat chicken? Do you eat your chickens? My cows are doing good, not real happy about this cold snap, would rather have 100 degree temps.

I am helping SIL today with his kitchen remodel. Hanging drywall ceiling ad walls today, finishing tomorrow. Hard part is, he is a 2 hour drive south.

Wonder how Roy is doing at his training?

10 this morning and headed to 39 today.

Half my birds leave tonight. So I'll spend the day getting ready for that. Need to get the rope and pulley system installed sometime so I can take the ROPS off. Won't fit in the chicken coops with it on. Hopefully it's as simple as it looks 4 bolts.

Well, it's 28 degrees here in the Piedmont area of NC. Supposed to get up to low 40's and sunny today. Now that said, I've had my new BX25 for a week and it's stayed parked most all the time due to the record amounts of rain we've had over the past month and the ground being so soft. I have however, found myself involved in an endless stream of projects since I got the tractor. Made a shed roof for the implements, cleaned out a garage bay so I could have a place to park it, made two runs to the landfill, completely renovated my shop area, etc. I don't think I've been this busy in months. All this for the tractor and it just sits there. Sigh... Gawd, my muscles are sore this morning. heh.

33 going up to 40 day, much cooler day with nice weather for next two days, then a great deal of rain predicted for Friday. That means I have two days to finish cleaning up the field ruts in the mud before that rain comes in. On the job....

Headed off to TSC this morning with the trailer to get a 20 foot section of culvert pipe. Double wall plastic, seemed pretty sturdy. And then one more truckload of ABC and I can remove my little temporary bridge and get something permanent put in there. Today off goes the bucket and on goes the forks as I try to lift the old broken bridge out of the water diversion ditch. It broke in one area where the wood was clearly rotted; not sure anyone is going to be able to use this thing until a lot of wood is replaced. They sell them for $600 for muddy areas where they are clearing trees but I rented mine for 100 bucks.

Knowing what I know now, which for sure is often the case...I would have started out with sand, a culvert pipe, then ABC and then some 57's or nice stone. I got it all backwards...well it's nicely mixed together now near the barn. And if it was all too easy, I wouldn't have job security, right?
All's well that ends well...

Could be a muddy day getting the 8x8 cribbing out from under that broken bridge. Lot of good lumber under there, needs to get powerwashed and re-used. Curious to see how far into the mud that concrete truck pushed the whole thing down. Will take pics.

less swelling in my jaw this morning, yeah, penicillin seems to be doing its thing. Funny, I haven't taken penicillin in forty years. But that's what the oral surgeon said to use. I had already had one course of higher tech antibiotics; maybe he wanted Old Faithful?

Good Morning. Overnight rain had frozen this morning, just enough to make me wonder, when I tried to get into the car, if it was the iced up door seal or the paintwork that was going to let go first.

It would be much appreciated if someone on your side of the pond could put an end to the Powerball lottery roll over and let something else feature in our news and on our radio stations, especially since no one in the UK is even allowed to buy a ticket. Hope none of you win - so much money is more likely to be a curse than a gift - but if you do, send me a PM and I will do my best to help out. :)

We be the NC Mud Men!
Now J, you're going to have to get that gleaming beauty muddy sometime...
Although in this weather you spend one hour getting the job done and three hours cleaning up the mess.
All this for the tractor and it just sits there.
I'm told like a good mistress... Plenty of action when you need it, quiet and reliable otherwise.
not that I would know...
