Very cool and cloudy here 55 but with all humidity feels much cooler. Mid Atlantic looks to get in on some snow action around the 15th of the month. Dallas Texas may as well as temperatures have warmed in the Arctic which will lead to cold outbreaks from the Mississippi east. May be a wild ride for the rest of our winter while the west warms up

Good afternoon all. 33F this morning and clear, got to 53F and clouded up a bit. TMA was drive to Blue Ridge, TX (1 hr) ride 3 hours (41 mi.) for a bowel of black eye peas, with ham and jalapeno corn bread and drive home to catch some football.

good morning all, January 2. All day...

40 degrees out only climbing to 50 today in a cooldown that is long overdue. Forecast is still dry for a week; maybe I'll have a chance of getting some truckloads of stone in mid next week without them getting stuck, again.

going to see Star Wars at the matinee today. That should be fun.
A different kind of fun than yesterday when I thoroughly enjoyed rolling around on my new concrete shed floor on my rolling seat, working on various machinery.
Front wheels/tires of the Gravely are done, now the rear wheels to paint.

Did way too much yesterday, a dozen trips up the stairs hauling Christmas stuff back to storage. It may go down quicker but it's not any lighter...
and I still don't have the Christmas tree put away. Maybe after I take her to a movie and dinner my lady friend will help me take it down tonight.
She's quite sensible, knows how to work for food...

The fall I took the other day has finally caught up with me lower back and right shoulder really hurt. Guess that will teach me not to jump off boats anymore

Kinda cool here today no higher than 57 back home only in 40s

Do not think I will be able to ride up to NC today the ride will not do my back any good

Uncle Kevin, what are you going to do with all that poo ?
Well, I will take it to the corner of the field, stack it in a big heap and leave it to rot down for about 6 months, then put it on the rhubarb.
Really ? said Emily. We put custard on ours.


Little Emily was playing with her friend Rhubard when the cart broke loose. The brave stick of rhubarb pushed Emily safely out of the way, but poor Rhubarb was squashed. There was juice everywhere. The limp Rhubarb was rushed to hospital, where the doctors did all they could to save him. Eventually the surgeon came out, sat down beside a red eyed Emily and gave her shoulder a squeeze.
Is, is Rhubard going to survive ? The surgeon gave a sad smile and nodded.
Emily looked up, wiped away the tears and asked - Can he talk ? Can he walk ?
I am so sorry Emily, Rhubarb will be a vegetable for the rest of his life.

There is another one about Emily throwing Rhubarb into a big bowl of pineapple and orange juice, with a good splash of rum - but I forgot the punch line.

Good morning. Good to hear you all survived all those bullets raining down on the 1st January. That's one thing that doesn't happen in the UK, either because we are more densely populated, or because firearm owners here just aren't that dense . Actually, if anyone tried that here and got caught, they would have their guns confiscated and face 5 years in jail.

The wind has really got the wood burning range in our kitchen roaring this morning. It was the same yesterday, burning twice as much wood as usual, even with the flue damper mostly closed. No one complaining as it's now cold enough to appreciate the additional heat given out in windy weather.

Drew, too bad they can't fix your tooth as fast as you clean up your Christmas decorations. BTW my stepdaughter reports clove oil helps with pain. She puts a drop or two on a q-tip then bites down on the hurting tooth for a minute or so.
