Good morning! 78˚ heading to 100˚. Our 40% chance of rain for today has dropped to 25%.
I saw something right outside the yard fence this morning but could not make out what it was till I put the camera on full zoom.

Then I went to back yard and Whipper made a low growl and her hair stood up on her back. Way off at the edge of the woods was a huge coyote - but it slipped away before I could get the pic.

Good Morning. 0805, mostly cloudy, 77F with 95% humidity. Forecast high of 88F with 80% chance of thunderstorms today, and a low of 74F tonight. The 10 day forecast shows 10 days of thunderstorms.

I drove through one of the worst thunderstorms I have seen in a long time coming back from the airport yesterday. Traffic was doing 35mph on US231, where the speed limit is 65mph, and that was too fast for the conditions. You had to stay right on the back of the car in front of you because if you dropped back very far you couldn't see the tail lights. There was no hope of seeing the road. I thought I had it bad until I saw the little old black man on scooter. Shorts, sneekers, short sleeve shirt and no helmet. If I had been him, I would have pulled in to the first place I came to and waited it out.

The last two Fridays I have had office relief, so going in today at regular Friday time {1300} will feel like a half day. It's a lockout {where the customers pays a fee to lock out the day before an event} for a one year old birthday party. I've been doing this 25 years, and this is my first time seeing that.

I came up with a new way of eating a garden salad yesterday. Just lean over the sink and eat it a bite at a time. No slicing or tossing required. I did de-seed the peppers though. I'm not that tough.

I'm off to the garden. You guys have a good one,

Drew, I need to start a thread on "the 2nd retirement". I saw a byline on one member that responded to a thread that said: Sold the farm, sold the tractor moved back to the city. Seeing how my parents are dealing with their age and very rural country living I realize without a dependable child, maintenance and driving are out.

Good Morning! The temperature hasn't dropped any here, but the humidity has and I am lovin' it. There was no condensation on the outside of the windows this morning for the first time in a while and the breeze feels good again.

76F @ 6:30AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 102F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Drew, not all returns are financial. If/when the time comes to sell that property, the shop building will be an attractive incentive to most buyers, though I have to agree with the agent that you won't get most of the construction costs back. But while you're still there your equipment will certainly benefit from being stored in the structure, and will be much easier to access and use due to the concrete floor. If you'll also be using it as a work space, that's added benefit. I'm in a similar position, and consider $60K a good investment for the (hopefully) 15 years of use I'll be able to get, probably longer since only the good die young. Besides, if a building is what you really want, you'll kick yourself in the hind end every time you walk into a carport, wishing you'd built your heart's desire instead of what made good business sense.

Don it sounds like Whipper is living up to her name. Glad the snake didn't land on your head! Good to see your wife getting back into the kitchen, but I sure hope that swelling goes down!

Dave, good you had a doctor look at that finger; I'm no doctor but the outcome may have been different if you'd gone there right away while the damaged portion was still alive. FWIW, this month Consumer Reports has a long article about antibiotic over use leading to unstoppable super bugs. Much blame was put on broad spectrum antibiotics. Interesting reading, but it's a different story when you're the one with the injury or disease looking for the best possible outcome, isn't it?

Farmer, that's a LOT of chickens. No wonder you're always so busy!

Work at the dealer yesterday didn't take as long as my errands, but I still managed to spend an hour or so chatting with my parts guy and another rider and his ten year old son passing through on their way to the coast. They'd come from Billings, taking their time and a day or so more than I did, and were on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. They had an afternoon of 100+ temps to ride through before they reached their motel, so I told them about the old desert rat trick of wetting down their hair and shirts to take advantage of evaporative cooling. Hope it works for them. I ordered brake parts and an engine seal for the Kbike, but was asked to determine if I need just a rebuild kit for the master cylinder or the whole replacement part. Usually they don't mind taking unused parts back for a refund, but these are old enough that they'd probably sit in the shelf for a while. So I'll go out into the shop in a few minutes and take the one on the bike apart to see if it's rebuildable, rather than ordering both and returning the unused one.

TGIF gang! Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Now why didn't I think of that, I would have not have had to buy this:

I was just practicing up for my black belt in Lazy. I wouldn't mind having one of those though, as much as I'm chopping veggies.

Don, good thing that whipper loves you enough to put her life on the line for you. There was a news story a few days ago about a loose Cobra in a high rise condo in Houston. Tell your wifey it ain't safe in the city either nowadays.

71°F and .56 inches rain last 24 hours.

Thought I'd get mowing finished yesterday, but I don't now in the rain.

In town for breakfast with wife and granddaughter, errands.

Be safe
Have a great day
