You get more snow in Southern VA than what we get up here.
I was thinking the same thing...

nice visit with landlady, tea and cookies
she is still going through chemo and a real trooper.

turned the xmas decorations back on, and as expected, inflatable got hung up, legs every which way.
So I went out and got those rowdy inflatables in order and they seem fine now.

temps steadily dropping, 14 tonight

26F and "Fair" @ 15:00 and calling for a high temp of only 27F ... which continues the unusual cold snap we are having. Clinton Station reports the low this morning was 20.3F.

Typically the average high temp this time of year is in the low 40's. Always a crap shoot as to whether it will be a White Christmas.

More de-burring and sweating of 1" copper pipe and fittings done last evening.

Got the hole drilled in the top plate to pass the flex conduit for the low-voltage wires to the outside AC unit and got the wires passed through. Need to connect those back up ... before I forgot which wire goes where.

Got the outside of the brine tank all cleaned off and then started on the inside. Had some of sort of greasy/fatty deposits on the interior walls, grey in color. Dawn with a little water wouldn't hardly touch it ... got after it with some of that new Low VOC mineral spirits I picked up which seemed to work a whole lot better.

Speaking of which, not really happy with the Sunnyside Low VOC product. Didn't think about the Low-VOC aspect at the time I ordered it - think it was all that Menards was showing as available in stock - but it doesn't appear to (completely ?) evaporate rapidly and leaves a bit of oily residue ... unlike the gallon of regular Kleen Strip thinner I had previously.

Also used some Xylene to clean off something that had got spilled on the lid of the brine tank.

Since I had the stationary tubs emptied at that point broke out the Nutra-Sol started working on cleaning out some old 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 gallon hand pump sprayers. Will let them soak for 24 hours and then repeat. Once they're done they can be moved up to the garage where they belong.

Sheet cake turned out pretty good, Woman now in the process of cleaning out the refrigerator for Trash Day tomorrow ... so garbage and recyclable will need to be run up to the cans at the road later.

Garage was @ 37F so I fired up the torpedo heater to warm it up a bit to keep things from freezing.

Probably head back out there and prep some seed and refill the hopper feeder.

Amazon dropped off another box of suet cakes yesterday ... just in the nick of time ... think we were down to only 1 or 2 left in the last box.

Looks like processing pumpkin for the freezer might be on the agenda for later.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ... (y)

While I generally like low VOC paints and cleaners, I really dislike that Sunnyside Low VOC product. I made the mistake of adding it to an oil based paint for a project, and everything curdled. The paint didn't cure properly, the rather nice oil paint brush was toast, as neither solvents nor lye seemed to lift the gunk. Plus the project had to be completely redone from the beginning. Totally my fault, as I thought as Sunnyside markets it as paint thinner, it would work as paint thinner. I would be usable where paint thinner was usable, and it isn't. It does leave an oily residue behind. Plus, it has something very like water in it that separates out. (Methyl Pentane-Diol?) I wasn't able to find a use for it here (doesn't clean, doesn't dilute oil based paints, so?) and sent it off to household hazardous waste disposal.

Not one of my better purchases.

All the best,

Peter
