Afternoon all, beautiful day here today, yard sale went well, got rid of a lot of excess stuff we had. Tomorrow if it doesn't rain I will be putting up the patio cover on the deck. Will try to take pics if I remember.

The county animal shelter is having their annual fund raising yard sale the end of June. I have list of donations in mind. :) Don't really have enough stuff to have my own yard sale.

78 at 9pm. 74% humidity. Pretty muggy. Took the wife to the river terminal for her to pick out her rock. 4.13 tons of pea gravel river rock. Her mom has a 5 ton dump trailer, so that's what we took. After supper we moved cows and fixed the fence. Then I scooped a bucket of gravel out of the trailer and we spread it in the front bed. She then realized how long it is going to take to spread out 4 tons and at some point this turned from being her project to our project. Yep I know how that turns out.

Drew. Hate you don't have any pictures to show. But sounds like you had a good time. So, was you there looking at tractors or looking for a woman with a tractor? 👍😉.

61F and mostly clear at 23:00 ...

Rain won't hit until late tomorrow night so I put off the mowing for another day.

Got a little bit earlier start on the wood today. Here's what I had after Thursday and Friday - think it was 9 bucket loads total:

Got on a roll today and got all the pine logs, save one, (a smaller one) cut and split. 8 1/2 bucket loads worth:

Woman got home just in time to help stack it all :D

After that I managed to get a number of the smaller sycamore logs cut into rounds, before knocking off around 21:00 or so.

Have a little bit of hardwood to cut and split tomorrow and then I'll probably be done for a while ... maybe at least until wood fairy makes another delivery ...

The sun had been up a few hours before me this morning, so I thought I would put some sun screen on before setting out. It didn't rub in as easily as normal and I found out why when I looked up at the mirror - the tip of my nose was covered in toothpaste.

So this is what going senile is going to be like.

Coffee has been poured. 46° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with heavy thunderstorms in the afternoon. Dealer delivered car yesterday. Got all but one wall done on siding project. Need to take a day off. To much bending over yesterday. Body aches allover. Going to drive up to Port Huron to pickup my old band saw. It did not sell at the garage sale. Then some NASCAR on TV.
Eric, whats the SPF on that toothpaste.
Drew, not sure wet noodle is the appropriate punishment for no pictures. Good write up.
Good Morning All.

37 tight now...today's forecast is 76 and clear.
Got the lawn mowed (again, to clean up the windrows from last week' mowing) and then I mowed the field. The cab is great in the winter...not so great in the summer (no A/C). I'm thinking about pulling the doors off for the season...but that would result in a pretty wet seat considering all the rain we've been getting (3 days this coming week have rain in the forecast).

Today's chores...fix a leaky spout and assemble a Weber grill...

Big thunderstorm came thru about 7:00PM then clear skies. Wife and I had nice cozy dinner now about time to start cleaning up for ride home. New heat pump very quiet and cools wonderfully. Six hours and then back home. Imagine there's grass to mow among other things to do to get ready for start of another work week

Really enjoyed horse race yesterday nice to have a triple crown winner again

49F headed to mid-70's with clear skies today. It dipped down to 39F last night again.

Tooth paste on the nose is better than sunscreen in the mouth. :D

Roy, the obvious and simplest solution is a summer tractor and a winter tractor. I bet a cab does warm up on sunny days with no AC.

If I brought another tractor home...and I would love to have my 4400 back...the result would be very bad.

At least you would have a comfortable place to go--sitting in your cab with heat and AC. :D Better look for a big cab with 12V mini fridge, microwave and TV just in case.

68 here, wife and I are going to take the horses out for a little bit, then come home and I hope to work on moving the next burn pile, if I have time I will mow the back yard.

Eric, I hate to tell you but Senile is when you go in public with the toothpaste, you are just still asleep......

68 this morning and headed to 91 today. Now we're getting there. Rain chances Monday then next Friday. Hay is going to drop next week. One farm is baled and only 3 more to go. Next 3 farms all get the equipment staged from my house. So we bale my hay next. We need about 4 days of good weather for each farm. Today is equipment moving day. Takes 2 trucks 2 trips each to move everything. Then may mow yard.

57 and Rain looks like most of the Day,with close to a inch in the Rain gauge from over night. We will have a high of 73 Today.

72F and mostly sunny @ 10:30 ... mix of sun and clouds later, heading up to a high of 84F.

Woman announced that she was going to close up the house and turn on the AC before it gets warm ... so soon ? ... lol ...

Red-headed woodpecker was on the bottom suet feeder when I woke up, picking at what was left ... top feeder is empty ... about time to reload. Probably need to check the other feeders as well.

Might be a good day to work on the brushcutter ... inside ...

70F, sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible. High 98F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Once more the clouds gathered yesterday afternoon and thunder could be heard, but all that resulted were a few drops of rain, a brief rainbow or two, and a nice breeze. Looks like we're in for more of the same today.

Dave, thanks for the link on the well drillers. Hard to control things when there are no rules on how many wells or how much can be pumped, or even who can buy the rig.

Eric, when you're actually senile you won't know it.

Farmer: Wife's mother has 5 ton dumper. That's what I call marrying into wealth!

RS, I can tell from all those stringy bits hanging off the splits that the wood wasn't dry enough. The oak out here does the same thing, and the strings are too strong to break with my hands. Good sized piles though, you must fly right along with your saw'n'splitter!

Roy, if that cab heats up too much in the sun, just mow at night!

Got the backpack sprayer out and took care of the weeds up around the house. Had some left over so started in on the star thistle in the meadow. Noticed that the glyphosate turned the thistle stalk yellowish, but no idea why. Will need the big sprayer to do the rest, but want to give the coating on the RTV bed more time to harden/dry.

Been getting really hot here in the afternoon, so I revived an old tradition and took a nap until it cooled off.

A new roll of upholstery fabric arrived last week, so I took the back rest off the RTV to recover it. Had to cut the heads off the bolts because they were rusted into the T-nuts inside the seat back. Turns out that the plywood in there was also rotten. A few minutes with an Xacto knife had the old cover off, which I plan to use as a pattern. Never did any upholstery before, but I do have a commercial Consew machine that should work. What could go wrong?

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

I have been informed that despite there being many directions to go, the woman's dahlias need put in the ground ... now ...

RNG,

Yup ... a good bit of it was for sure. The pine - which was what I mostly split yesterday - was a mix: some of it was dead when it was taken down - that split real nice and was easy to handle 'cause it was so light.

The stuff that was alive when it was cut made all the stringy bits ... had a lot of stickey sap oozin' out ... and was considerably heavier. Good reason to let stuff season before attempting to split it.

The oak out here does the same thing, and the strings are too strong to break with my hands.
Yup ... same deal with this stuff.

Only upside is probably that I now have a good amount of tinder/kindling :D

Good sized piles though, you must fly right along with your saw'n'splitter!
I got on a roll ... :D

I'm using Stihl Rapid Super (chisel) chain on the saw ... it cuts very fast ... just gotta watch the kickback ...

With a bunch of rounds queued up, and a helper to feed the machine, we could get some serious production done.

Hope ya get lucky and catch that stray shower ... ;)
