Congrats David!! You have turned the corner. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We had a excellent turkey, just the 2 of us. Some of my family came over in the am, exchanged presents, that was nice! I am thinking of what we want to change in the new year. Lots to think about.

Have a good one, nice and sunny here.

Good Morning. 1000, sunny, 54F with 79% humidity. Forecast high of 63F with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 44F tonight. We are still under a Flood Watch, but the river fell a little more overnight. It is forecast to slowly rise the rest of the week, but only to around 18'. There was a nice white frost this morning. The first one in a couple of weeks. The sun is also shining again today. I could get used it that. Not much chance of rain until next weekend.

For the first time in what seems like a week, I got up at a decent hour and got all of my cardio done. No real plans other than eating at Sister's tonight. Margie will be baking one of her pineapple casserole. {one of my favorites} But right now she is rearranging the kitchen cabinets, so I'm trying to stay out of her way.

We are planning on going to town tomorrow. There are things we need and had thought about going today. But then we thought about all those folks returning unwanted gifts and we decided to wait.

Hope everyone has a good day,

Larro

63°F and .03 inches rain last 24 hours. Word is there is snow on the mountain but we haven't been able to see it yet.

No big plans for the day, relax a bit after the Christmas festivities.

Be safe
Have a great day

Dave1949- yep, according to guests and especially the wife, it came out perfect. I prefer rare and using this low and slow method and the fact it was a good size roast (9.5lb) it was medium rare tending to rare in the middle. Using just 1 burner on the weber I was able to keep the temp just a tad over 200. Temp reading was 128° on one end and 130° on the other when I shut it off. Let it rest and hour while still on the spit then full blast all burners for 10 minutes to brown. Waited about 15 minutes before pulling the spit/forks and slicing. Would have started slicing earlier but was busy making gravy etc :)

This is my second roast using this reverse sear, low and slow method - I'm now a believer.

David (MFW) should sounds like a great Christmas for you and your girls.

We have often used this time of the year to discuss goals and priorities for the upcoming year. I have to watch that I don't try to get too detailed too early, but usually this is a great exercise that gets our priorities in sync and something of a roadmap. That said can't think of any time we accomplished everything nor was there a year we didn't add things.

I stayed in the other end of the house where my workout equipment, PC and TV are. She only came through a couple of time going to the back closet, and I escaped having to offer an opinion until she was finished. She had bought a pot lid rack the last time we went to town and got most of the lids organized. Should make cooking easier {and putting up dishes after they are washed}. Later on I will need to find a storage tub, pack everything that wouldn't fit, then take it to the shed.

Good afternoon all. 58F and overcast, and wind has died down. Front coming through tonight and will drop temps 20F + . Picked up the golf cart, works good. going to Dallas for dinner tonight. Can't get the weather.com site to work tonight, but I think Tuesday temps drop again.

Buenos Tardes. Busy day at work. Slowing down now, it being Friday, and a semi-holiday. Kind of a weird time with the hoiday, but trying to close up stuff by year's end.

Anywhooo. David MFW-glad to hear you are getting back in stride. Keep the positive attitude.

MG-you taking that golf car to dinner, or leaving it behind and taking enclosed transportation? :D

Sodamo: Sounds like a great day with the grill. Is there ever a bad day with the grill?

I'd have to say, never a bad day with a grill, but perhaps a bit frustrating one from time to time.

Look hard, but you can see snow on Mauna Kea from our impromptu trip to town this morning.

David MFW sounds like you are on a good path now with a New Year a week away. Your daughter looks happy nice picture.

Spent the day running a few errands then put up a new LED flood lite with motion sensor above the garage. Had quality time playing with the dogs as well. After spending the last week cooking taking a break getting pizza!

Sounds yummy!

I have seen sear at the end techniques in cooking magazines. It does make sense. The low & slow beef roasting was used by some restaurant featured by Guy Fieri on Dinners and Dives. Huge beef rounds in a very low oven overnight as I recall. I've never tried it.

Glad everyone had a good Christmas.
Busy couple of days for me. Left Christmas morning from moms house in MA for Florida at 4am. Raining through NY and the roads in NY are as bad as always. It cleared up some in NJ and we stopped at the last rest area for gas but at $2.52gal, it was no big deal. Delaware was a ripoff as usual with high tolls(4axles) and lousy overpasses. MD, VA, NC went well and ended up in Florence, SC at 6pm.

Got back on the road for 5am and got to SW Florida for 4 today.

The lowest gas was in Hardeeville, SC for $2.05 which is important when you're adding 60-65 gallons at a pop. ;)

Overcast in SW Florida and 72° but better than the average temps in NH this fall.

Was another good day. Funny watching son play with cousins he doesn't see but a few times a year. Currently 48. Did get to mid 50's today. Now home to pack for a few days of R&R. Always hard for me. As I am thinking of everything I could be doing. But wife enjoys it.

MFW good to hear that things are turning around for you. Don't think someone could go through what you have been through without some very good friends. Glad you had them. Enjoy the new year and job as well as time with your girls. Glad to here you are already looking to move on.

Great day here, great weather. Like a lot of folks, we are considering what we want to do over the next year. It is a good time to evaluate where we are, and where we want to go. A good exercise!

Have a good one!

Hi 40's again today with sunshine. My gravel driveway is 70% bare and it got a little soupy on the top 1/2" this afternoon.

We usually take stock around the beginning of the new year too. I have some things to finish up from last summer like the field clearing and planting. I need to buy a 3pt PTO seeder/spreader this spring for sure. A spike tooth harrow for roughing up a seed bed would be good too. No major house projects planned this year.

39.1 F @ 03:45 ...

Woke up about an hour ago and went downstairs and stoked the fire and got it cranked up. Didn't check the temp in the house but it seems warm.

Beautiful day yesterday ... sunny ... and we exceeded the predicted high by several degrees ... made it up into the low 50's ...

Supposed to be overcast today ... but fairly warm with a predicted high of 52F.

Worked some more yesterday on the log splitter. Got the holes for the return, drain, and filler neck all drilled out and pipe bungs welded in the return and drain. And got the hole torched out for where I'll mount the strainer for the supply. Still need to pick up the pipe bung for that.

Also got a pressure valve permanently plumbed in the supply side of the loader valve on the Kubota ... looks like it's about 100 psi low. Not going to try to adjust that until I can get it back into the shed.

Will probably try to get some stuff done outside today, given the temps and lack of precip.

Hope everyone has a good day.
