67°F and .47 inches rain last 24 hours.

Managed to get mowing finished and a couple hours of power washing in before the rain. Today looking to be wet again.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Good Morning. 1105, sunny, 56F with 44% humidity. Forecast high of 62F with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 35F tonight.

It's Friday, so I will be going into work early. This may be the last time I shave this year. I always grow a winter beard {12/21-3/19}, and while next Friday won't be winter yet, I might decide to start a few days early. I always shave a few days early. It will be hot and sweaty by March, and I can never last until the first day of spring.

The Obed story is too long to try to explain. But the thumb nail version is he is a IT guy who lived in a camper for 12 years, then built a house and had a baby daughter, learning how to do everything with the whole world watching. If you have a couple of snowed in days with nothing else to do, his thread is a great read. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/projects/157965-home-woods.html

Hope everyone has a great day,

Larro

28.7F and cloudy @ 01:30 ...

HVAC guy just left after replacing the gas valve. Furnace appears to be working for the moment.

Noticed a lot of air leakage in the bonnet when I was down there the other day ... probably back from when they replaced the heat exchanger a few years ago. Will have to get that taped up.

Will be letting the fire die down in the wood burner so I can get it tied into the HVAC ductwork. Hopefully it will be something that we won't have to use again any time soon ... although I'm sure glad we have it.

RS, if you did not have wood backup for heat. Your HVAC guy is using his slow service to convince you to buy a new furnace. :(
Ron,

I wouldn't doubt that for a minute ...

When it failed to work properly after replacing the controller board, the guy - in a pretty frustrated voice - said "You just need to replace it" ...

I took that to pretty much be an admission of a lack of good diagnostic skills ...

I am usually working by myself, so I have got into the habit of using nails or screws as helpers, put a big one at one end, just below where the board is going to be fastened, and rest the board on that while I nail the other end. Or put in slave blocks, short pieces of 2x4 in as locators. I am very reluctant to ask my wife for help on these things, as she seems to get hurt too easy.....not a happy result.

I am also use to working alone. Have notches for things to set in and helpers nailed up. But there are something's that just aren't doable alone. Some of the post got a little out of plumb during construction. Now trying to pull them back and lock them in place it's more than a single person job. And my wife doesn't help either.

A FEL bucket gently applied can work. It would be harder with one person though unless you can be in two places at once.

one tired buckeroo from driving 9 hours, but a cup of coffee is going down the hatch, and my friends are picking me up where two couples and I will have dinner at a local restaurant here in Warrington, PA, Bucks County, north of Phila, near where I used to live. We've met at this place before; tonight is two of the three guys I went to a very small high school with and have stayed close friends for fifty years.

staying in a Hilton Homewood suite, nice enough, full kitchen, and the wifi popped right on. Works for me and keeps me out of my MIL's house where it is too much of an ordeal for her. I'm taking her out to lunch on Sunday after church. I made reservations; I expect the place to be mobbed with holiday luncheons like ours. Tonight dinner, tomorrow breakfast and lunch, and Sunday lunch and dinner. All out. Gonna gain a few pounds doing this...better look for some salads to eat.

Perhaps the greatest challenge I have to working alone is adjusting to having help. Most times I have more faith in my work arounds then I do with a person who may not have a clue. My wife, even in her limited capacity is normally my best helper, probably because she has over 30 years of training LOL

Yeah, I have used my loader to help me do a lot of things. A couple times, the gentle thing wasn't so gentle.....

A very slow idle using just the bucket curl is not too bad to control. Get the lift arms and bucket in position, then use the curl function.

I like to shy away from using tractors to straighten things. (Tear them down yea). :). I prefer the old chain, cable and binder method. Seems to go wrong a lot slower. Some of the post need to move two directions.

I work pretty good with Dad. Not wife. She asks too many questions. "Why are you putting boards around bottom? Your going to pour concrete. " And I just look at her. Have one buddy from high school that knows his stuff we work good together. Another one that ain't got a clue but follows directions well. So I can handle those helpers.

31F. Maybe some light snow flurries tonight and tomorrow. Last night's snow did coat and stick to the driveway ice, so that was good.

For about 2 hours this morning we had sunshine! Woohoo. This gloomy weather with damp air gets old.

My mom always said if you have to finance an engagement ring you can't afford to get married. Is that really true JD?

After my 3 year divorce I shall remain silent, other than I am still financing her spending habits. -_-

Maybe I can't afford being divorced.
