53F and partly cloudy @ 04:00 ... calling for sunny with a high of 76F today.
I went down around 19:30 last night to grab a bite and after that it was all over ... fell asleep on the couch until around 12:00. Took me awhile to get up and get moving. Beautiful night though ... all kinds of stars out there with some wispy clouds here and there.
I'm up at the shed ... brought the laptop up ... 'cause I need to read the instructions for the compact bender (first use) and I can't find the paper manual anywhere ... lol ... so it's pdf off the internetz ...
Decided I needed to re-orient it so the pulls are done out in the bay ... will give me more (length) for whatever I'm bending.
The other thing I discovered recently was the stand for the vise was too high ... I thought higher would be better for some things since I'm somewhat tall ... so when I built the stand I just used the entire drop of pipe that I had ... turns out it was too high for getting a good swing when beating on stuff ... so I unbolted the vise and took it off and then unbolted the stand from the floor and sawed off about 6". Hafta make the second cut (on the base) and then weld it all back together.
I used it yesterday as it was for some welding ... and while I was at it, I added this at Uncle Buck's suggestion - a holder for the MIG gun:
Used an old short length of small diameter pipe I had lying around and what was left of an old pin from a (cargo) load bar that I had drilled out when I shortened the load bars to fit my van. Think I'll probably add a few more things like this to the stand ... once I figure out what is needed ... lol ... probably a pin for the hand sledge would be a good start.
I also discovered that the location I chose to mount the vise was not a good one ... not enough light and too far (6') from an electrical outlet ... so it's getting moved in the "upgrade" process.
Now that I've got the sawhorses built I might try to get the plate out of the back of the van and get the welding table set up ... it's getting to the point where I actually need it to move forward on the grapple.
Also may have to go pick up another take of shielding gas if I do much welding today ... down to 600 psi already.
