Good luck with your work this summer. Don't forget the long underwear.

I never wear Long johns, no matter how cold it gets in Ontario.
I'll be leaving here in about an hour.
Anyway, the weather today, 54f right now. A few showers early then thundershowers this afternoon. High 69F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60% and it is overcast right now.
It is going to be a wet drive to Markham. :(

53*F and clouds. Maybe some sun and upper 60's later.

I'm dropping off some used fence at a fellow VFD member's house this morning. She and her husband have gotten into animals; cows, chickens and plans for turkeys. Told her I would trade fence for eggs. The fence is 2"x4", 6' welded wire that we replaced with chain link a couple years ago. Someone may as well use it rather than it rusting away and it should be fine for fowl.

Our minisplit install is scheduled for June 4th. Whoohoo! I need to look at what can be shuffled in the electric panel to make room for the two 220v circuits needed. We are getting a Mitsubishi 12K btu and an 18K btu unit. Need to cool and dry things out in the summer, and will probably use the heat function once in a while too. Everybody swears by them as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Have a productive day.

Ramsond 12,000 BTU 1+ Ton Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner & Heat Pump - 120V/60Hz-37GW2 at The Home Depot
Dave, pretty neat, kind of a miniaturized heat pump, interesting that it can get rid of the heat in such a small format vs conventional large blower a/c units.
Pretty sure I saw lots of these in the Caribbean. Though I'm sure they were a/c only.
Is this the modern version of what was used forever in single floor motels?

Drew:

You are correct that these are used in the Caribbean a lot. (and Mexico and Central America). They differ from Central Air in that they are ductless. They are also different from the hotel/motel units in that they are not vented outside through the wall. They are served by a refrigerant line directly from the compressor. The US versions heat and cool, and several manufacturers also add dehumidification and air cleaners. They are very light on electricity. I have been interested in these for years. We are thinking of putting these in our home when our current system finally gives up.

Good morning all. 69F this morning going to 90F, the forecast is for less wind but yesterday forecast was for 15 mph and it was was closer to 20-25 :( Working on vertical blinds today and riding. Cracked middle chain ring  has sidelined the Trek, on the ten-speed  but glad to have the back-up.

Yep, ductless. We don't have any forced air already in the house to tie in to. Each "head" unit that mounts on an interior wall has refrigerant lines and 4-wire (220v + ground + a control line) cable running to the outdoor unit. There is also a drain line needed for the condensate from the inside wall unit--which is why they normally are mounted on an exterior wall. They are supposed to be very energy efficient.

The last two summers we have had extended warm, humid spells. Our house is like a walkout basement, the bermed rear and end concrete walls are below the dew point in that weather and we have to do something to limit the condensation on those walls before we get into mold and mildew issues. Closing all the windows and running a dehumidifier is a non-starter. An air handler system with an EVR is what would be optimal in hindsight. I may yet do something in that direction for air exchange.

It will be nice to be a bit cooler. The dogs will love it. Compared to running ceiling and floor fans constantly for several weeks, I don't think the electric usage will have that much net change.

My prediction is we will close up the house and use the AC for 4-6 weeks in summer, and use some heat now and then in winter. We'll see. Of course, this summer will be the coolest in several years.

Hello guys, not here much except to check on my thread in L&G about the BS Exmark 5 acres per hour claim. 82 here now, finally caught up with mowing for the first time this year, pulled the JD up to the garage, removed side panels and rubber floor mat, blew off all the dust and grass, going to wash it and wax the body when I get back out. It needs some serious coin this year, a new hood, a new battery, hydro system fluid and filter change, service the cooling system with flush and refill and new hoses and belt....a new drive belt for the deck...oh, excuse me this is the GM thread and I am here talking about my tractor....ME BAD....
