Hello folks! Yes, I'm back again for another sporadic post.

I hope everybody is doing alright and any problems are being sorted.

Things are not really progressing for me.

We've got to be out of our current house by the 15th of April and currently have no idea where we're going to go. It's just a matter of getting on with life and waiting to see what happens. We could in theory stay in the house past the eviction date and have the landlord take us to court to get us out, but the legal bills would be our responsibility (as described in the contract) and we really can't afford that.

I must say though it's starting to get on top of me, what with all the other things that are happening as well.

I sure hope something good happens soon because I don't know how much longer I can go before something gives, either mentally or physically.

They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger - here's hoping!

The weather here in Scotland has been pretty changeable lately - one day it's snowing and the next it's sunny. Basically just usual Scottish weather

Today it's not too bad, sunny-ish and about 5-6*C.

With all the issues surrounding me right now the weather is the least of my worries (barr a meteorite hitting me, of course) but I will still be glad to see Spring finally come and get the clocks changed forward.

The grass has been growing for about a month now so I probably should go and mow it but I really can't bring myself to start a mowing season that I know I won't be able to finish (in this house anyway).

Plus the mower is already stored away and I don't want to get it running again then have to run it out of fuel soon after for another period of storage.

I might see if I've got any blades for my 1984 Qualcast Mow 'n' Trim electric mower and use that.

Anyway, I've moaned on enough so I'll go and check out the other new threads and be off.

Take care everybody.

Thank you David, that means a lot.

The Military (Army as we call it here) isn't something I could/would do. I admire those who can but it's not for me.

Not to pick on you - please take in a positive light, but sometimes in order to change our circumstances, we have to change our thinking or what I usually refer to as attitude. That often means doing things we don't think we can nor want.

My own story - Late 20's, married, kids, and so low from my circumstances that I honestly thought if I ever walked near the ocean cliffs where I lived, I just might find them more inviting than returning. I had already been in the Army, Vietnam etc and out for 7 years, didn't get out on best of circumstances. All the bad that was happening to me I could easily attach a name as being responsible. One day I guess a dim light went off and decided, DECIDED, that I was the only one that had any real control of me, not my parents, wife or any of the others. I went back in the Army - a MAJOR change and worthy of another story in itself. It was not easy, had to start over at second lowest rank. Actually, high school ROTC grads came in with higher rank than a returning veteran. Sadly(perhaps wisely), I didn't really care if my wife or anyone else agreed or supported my decision. Marriage lasted another 5 years. But I set goals for myself, and worked toward them. I stayed in the Army until I retired. Finished college, 2 Masters degrees, promotions, interesting jobs, and fun along the way. No doubt about it, but I wouldn't be where I am, living as well as I do if I hadn't changed my attitude.

Take charge of yourself and best of luck. We are pulling for you.

ETA: this is not about joining the Army. I'm sure a number of TBNers could substitute their own choice.

jmurray01, I am still sincerely sorry life has not improved for you and yours...and one of the sad things about being young is that you have little experience rolling with the punches. For the vast majority of us life consists of ups and downs...witness what David and Roy Jackson are experiencing right now. It may seem trite to say this, but the older one gets and the more experiences one has in dealing with the setbacks in life, the negatives don't seem so bad. Today I am really happy about my situation in life, but just a week or two ago, I was really, really depressed. What gave me the incentive to pull out of my depression was my past experiences where I could look back and reflect on what was so negative, and realize that was a normal part of life.

My dad was always upbeat and positive (to me and my siblings, anyway) he loved to tell us when we were griping about things: "You may not realize it, but compared to many others, you are having a good day today in spite of it all. So tell yourself you are going to have a better day tomorrow."

Or, as I like to say: "When you are down at the bottom, there is no place to go except up." My first full time job out of high school was working in a factory that made aluminum connecting rods for small engines, my duty there was to break up the reject rods and remove the copper bearings so the aluminum could be remelted and recast in new rods. 85 cents an hour...even in 1969 that was a pittance. But it gave me a step up the ladder, my first full time employment...and when I finally got a good full time job and the work seemed menial, I thought back to earning 85 cents an hour and I realized I WAS having a better day than I used to experience.

WHEW !!! Really meandering here. I am very rarely on TBN these days, got so many projects ongoing, carpentry, staining, painting, carpet installation, hanging new light fixtures, so many things. I am sincerely enjoying being single again and being able to do what I want to do without a nagging, ingrate spouse...hey, I am having a GREAT DAY just about EVERY DAY.

Had some fun today. I had a trip for work but had to kill about an hour so since i was close I stopped into Bingham's in North Vernon, Indiana - a large used machinery dealer. i had seen where they had auctioned a 2+2 yesterday and I wanted to take a look at it. I find those tractors kind of special. then I looked at some of their other tractors - new large ag tractors. The Deere 8270R with no gages or controls on the column seemed strange. Then the Case IH MX315 with 50" tires and duals on the front as well. I still cannot figure out why someone would want 315 hp in a tractor and not go traditional 4WD as they are much better balanced for pulling. It was a fun hour!

2013-03-15...the "Ides of March"!! and it's 0420.

15 degrees out there right now. A hogh of 37 is predicted and some snow, possibly.
Well, I should find out if we got the mortgage today (local bank). I can't say it looks too good, but at least this will be done one way or the other.
When we do apply again, it will definitely be with a local bank...if they pre-qual you, it's pretty much a done deal. Online mortgagers...well, they can promise the world and deliver nothing.

Hoping things work out Roy and that it is all behind you soon.

29 and dark here.

Apparently I made my first big sale yesterday, and it should lead to more as hey only awarded a small section of the overall contract, so maybe I will actually get a commission check in the future, I need it...

Be well all,
David
