Had a good snooze, till my wife woke me.
Our state has a total burn ban in effect( which I find ridiculous as it’s not that dry) and every day they report they put out multiple burns, even fire pits. I can see no big open burns, but fire pits is crazy.
A couple from church went camping, and couldn’t cook their supper last night.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.1C and it's presently 17.7C, somewhat overcast & fairly calm. There was 17.2mm in the gauge @ 0900 from yesterday's thunderstorms. It may rain again this arvo.

It might dry up enough this arvo to either mow or do some wood stacking. I definitely need to do one or the other... or not. :D

That's about it, take care all.

Did they want an open pit fire or a Bbq pit fire? Open pits are part of the burn ban here in Texas but not BBQ pits. The adventure farm lost out on a major source of income when the burn ban went into effect - no fires for s-mores during the Fall Festival. It seems like we are under a burn ban most of every year.

That reminds me I need to check out the fire pit in the backyard, have not turned it on yet.

Happy in NC and Popgadget so sorry for your losses, prayers for you and your family.

Light rain now, 75˚ !!!! Rain should continue through tomorrow.

Car shopping does NOT rate high on my list of things to do.

5 years ago, before Covid I bought my Honda Ridgeline, likely my best experience ever. Totally offsite, never went to dealer. Salesman brought new truck to my house, signed paperwork on dining table and he drove off in my trade. Less than an hour. All smiles.

My routine when vehicle shopping is research as much as possible. Looked at various makes, but settled on either another Honda Ridgeline or Toyota Tundra, my previous truck. Found desirable model at the Kona side Honda dealer, Tundra at Hilo side Toyota.

Car shopping here likely a bit different that many of you experience. Basically 1 dealer per Make, likely 2 locations. So you can’t shop dealers for same make. Add to that inventory can be very, very limited, especially certain models, often not even available. Of course they take advantage, either take it or leave it. Some folks, mostly non locals prefer to shop off island and ship, but that is fraught with own challenges.

I have my own rules when making a major, not in person, purchase. I don’t want to and wont talk to salesman on phone until I’m ready. Txt or email back and forth on basic stuff and if still interested we can talk. I’m upfront about it and convey at first contact.

So there is an online form to request price of the desirable Ridgeline in Kona. It will not send without a phone number, in CAPS, I say, do not call. txt or email only. Within minutes, like 2-3, my phone rings and person identifies self as Eric from Honda in Kona calling about my interest in Ridgeline. Probably less than politely I reply, “When are you going to learn to f’ing read?” and hang up. Not a happy camper. Really ticked me off.

Saturday, after HD we head to Toyota, not raining. Nice young lady meets and greets and we ask to see desired vehicle as we couldn’t find it. She checks and vehicle is on another lot so she offers to show same model but different colors, different color interiors but one that matched the requested vehicle. Easy to determine that interior color was really not feasible, way too light and would be showing dirt really fast. Liked the other interior but would have preferred lighter exterior. Back to bullpen area, but offered up the Pilot as possible trade. Learned that the desired vehicle had been damaged in shipment, hence on other lot awaiting resolution. Trade offer came in insultingly low. We left.

The local Honda dealer, where we get servicing is in near area. During all above I had received a ballpark trade number via txt, so decided to visit. No Ridgelines were on their website, but upon arrival found there was a 2024 TrailSport, but different color. Nice salesman introduced self, recognized Sophie from service visits. Trade offer was reasonable, but on lowside of acceptable. Finance guy unwilling to negotiate. Salesman was somewhat old school and several times I raised my hand and said, “Stop, don’t even go there”. Asked Salesman for quote on Konaside vehicle, Finance guy outright refused because Eric had called, said I’d have to deal with them in Kona. Yea, right. We left. Already thinking time to trade Sophie’ Pilot back to a Toyota.

Salesman I bought from 5 years ago, no longer at Honda. We have bought 2 Toyotas, 2 Hondas from him. Now at a different dealer. Has offered to buy Ridgeline at acceptable cash price, set for Wed.

Emails back and forth also resulted in a non trade quote on Toyota, Tundra 1794, finalize paperwork on Monday. Expect I will be owning a new Tundra 1794 by end of week and will post pics.

Morning TBN.
Cold here today in Ohio. I woke to the news my first born died yesterday. Unexpected sort of. Life choices caught up to him. So spent yesterday driving and going to be a rough few days ahead. We'll see how it goes.

Have a safe day.
So sorry and prayers for you and your family's loss. I can relate with a close first cousin, who I tried to help rehabilitate. And a nephew. Both made many, many bad life choices from as young as 13 years old.

Coverage was about the same with the several choices available to me. Slight difference in Rx coverage only. My dr/hospital group (non-profit) has their own Medicare Advantage plan. I picked them, with it's HMO plan.
Thanks. Hospital groups are sometimes pushing their own plans, which if it works, I hope it all works in your favor.

Yesterday was an interesting day, I did a plumbing repair at the restaurant, spent some time on the doors, a handful of other tasks as well.
Son and DIL were here, he was working on the basement flooring, a combination of Pergo and ceramic tile. She was upstairs moving stuff in to the kitchen, her mother, aunt and grandfather were here as well. They had a nice lunch with Pizza, then went down to the barn to see the alpacas, and played with Zoe while they were outside.
Later DIL got a call from her mother that her grandfather fell asleep and slumped over in the car on the way home, he actually passed away.
I’ve got to say, that’s the way I want to go.
Pop, prayers for the family, especially the DIL's family. I would prefer to go in my sleep.
Hope they weren't crossing any state lines to quagmire the paperwork...if it would.

The electronic controls makes it more difficult to diagnose. The M-Tronic system controls the carb, ignition and fuel solenoid.
Give me an old fashioned carb on a simple engine.
Buddy just bought a 2014 Massey 471 to avoid DEF. I hope the gov removes DEF requirements from tractors below 150hp. If anything, go after the "coal rollers" who turn up the fuel in their diesel trucks.

As for the rest of the day some of you guys bear some responsibly, and Sophie the rest. All this activity involving new vehicles. as a result of the latest electrical glitch with my Rideline, I was there. So much of the day involved truck shopping. This deserves its own post.
Unless you are seeking advice from a larger audience, I would enjoy your truck shopping stories.
Sad that you have a weird situation with your Ridgeline. Some of those V6 engines are under recall for problems.

Morning all, 49 going up to 65 and sunny, wind is a bot calmer today, dry.
Got car , took longer than expected , but no hiccups when handing over a check for the total.

Dinner for Wife's birthday went well, went to Terrain in Doylestown. We have been there to look at planting items, interest combination of high end store, Cafe and landscaping supplies.

Nice car! Just in time for wifey's happy birthday! Best wishes from Texas!

Hope new pastor works out. We have moved to a friend's church about 20 minute drive down the highway.

My son is in honors geography, and was given an assignment to turn in on the country of Serbia. Anyone know of any TBN members from Serbia he could ask questions?

Chiefs @ Bills football game was good. 2 great teams battling. As good or better than many superbowls I've seen....and I don't even have any skin in the game.

I actually prefer watching college football, but I wish they would remove the transfer portal and put the rules like they used to be, where you had to stay out for 1 year to move to another team. This situation precludes coaches from disciplining players.

High school football playoffs in Texas now. 2 teams from our district that were good, got knocked out. 2 left. State championships happen the week before Christmas because of the size of the state and the number of teams.

Supposed to rain in the morning, had a few light showers this windy afternoon and evening. Still warm at 77F but 2 cool fronts this week.

I believe I'm going to reload the adblocker.

Church was good today. Missed bible study, need to read some Daniel to catch up.

Prayers for our team, our nation, Ukraine and ******.

David, the only kidney stone I have ever had I pissed out along with lots of blood. Got checked out at Thunder Bay, ON hospital and two days later I was in Timmins, ON. The formans' wife is a R.N. and told him to send me to the hospital, PDQ. Even if he has to drag me there by my beard. I went. The 'on call' Dr. is the formans quack too. She prescribed 7 pills about the same size as those old school (1955) penicillin tablets they used to give when you had a sore throat. Take one/day for 7 days, take them all, no skipping. I did and haven't had any problems since.

When I am car/truck shopping I go with the attitude that I might take the vehicle off their hands IF and only IF they want to sell it and they meet my terms. Payments will NOT exceed $300./month.

Propane is allowed. Propane grilling is allowed, a propane fire pit is allowed. Charcoal is not allowed. Wood fires not allowed.
I’m tempted to set up a rip roaring propane burner, and wait for some Karen to call it in, then as the firetruck pulls in, turn it off and go inside.

Good evening service. Going to extend job offer to the minister.

Likely an antibiotic. Just finished my 7 days. Cat scan showed where the KS left tracts on way out, and some white count in my test, but fortunately no exit pain or blood, much preferable to my 1st instance. Should be good if another 56 years to next one 😁

I never discuss payment with car dealer. Down payment etc come after I know the final number. Most times I finance externally unless they have best %.

I ask for out the door price, which includes tax, tags, fees they want to ad.
I walked out at a Hyundai dealer because they gave me higher price at the dealer after I had gotten out the door price in email. Told them I don’t play those games. Ended up getting even better deal in VA.
One advantage of living near multiple large cities, probably hundred dealerships around.
