Sure enough there was a leak on the mini split system. The technician was not equipped to find the leak but did charge it up.

It’s a safe bet it is a flare fitting on the line set. Mix up some soapy water with dish soap and wet the connections down. My guess is that you’ll see some bubbles.

Good morning! Low was 52°, going up to 87°. Good chance (50%) of a t-storm. Yep -- heard that before.....
Last night I got my hopes up, good lightning show, the storm came close, but no rain. Glad I ran the irrigation yesterday.

3 of the 4 chicks have fledged the nest. Mama bird is still feeding, but those 3 are scattered all around the backyard, and keep moving. The #4 chick was hatched 3 days after the others, he looks around wondering where everyone went off too.....

Another few days and I'll remove the nest after he fledges. It was really entertaining to watch them feed and grow. A bunch of other fledged babies still begging parents around the feeders. I guess we provided a nice habitat for them in the desert.

Removal of that cholla cactus will take place shortly. That's probably all that will happen on the home front today. PT evaluation this afternoon . It will be interesting to hear what they have to say.

We've had a string of 100+ degree afternoons this week. Last couple afternoons the official high per the National Weather Service was 107 degrees.

Official Hi-Lo for the nearest town for yesterday...54 degrees difference between morning and afternoon so I'm always up at 4:30, do what needs doing, and be back in the house where it is cool, by 10.

But my thermometer - in the shade of my porch - had my "official" high temperature a little above what the National Weather Service recorded:

Thanks, did not see any leaks on the two condenser flare fittings. The two upstairs ones are buried in a thick brick wall and not easy to access

68°F and .32 inches rain almost all since midnight and still raining.

Couldn’t mow in morning too wet, but did get haircuts. Got about half my Hilo mowing done and had hope to finish today but too wet and likely not dry out until late afternoon at best.

Friends coming over mid afternoon to throw some Kalbi pork on the Primo.

Planning our Ireland adventure for March as our Canadian friends will be in residence at the Cottage and will look after the house and furry kids. This tour will be something of a splurge vs like Dennis just rent a car and go. Someone told Sophie recently that if we don’t treat ourselves while we can then those that inherit will but without the appreciation. Thought provoking.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Yes, do it while you can, very thought provoking. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go on a trip where I didn't have to do any of the work, just get on the bus when it's time, hotel is taken care of, etc. The tour group can do the flight part also, including airport pickups.

I did all the planning, hotel and airline reservations, driving for the hawaii trip. Well, David did make some nice suggestions, including a nice hotel in Hilo. We really enjoyed the stay there. And on Oahu, enjoyed staying on the North shore. I would have hated it if we had stayed in Honolulu, just to save a few bucks.

Nice day today, high only in mid 80s.
Got hair cut, lunch at mission BBQ. But found a long hair in the brisket, so dumped the rest....
Did the costco run, it wasn't a zoo as usual.
Dumped 5 gal of used oil at the recycle center. Guy came over to check, good thing i didn't exceed the 5 gal at a time limit. I still have a dozen or so gallons to take. Sometimes I take more and keep dumping if no one around.

Got home and discovered the 10# bag of sugar had opened and dumped a bunch on my back seat, so had to clean that up, saved as much as I could in a baggie for hummingbird water, vacuumed up the rest. Got the floors also, they needed it.

Mail came as I was doing that, got 3 amazon deliveries. One being a cheap Anemometer. Went around and took some air readings downstairs. With the cooler weather today, the upstairs unit was actually off, so havent taken them yet. wish the back light would stay lit longer, I'm trying to get an average over a period of time, and the light turns off and I can't read the display. Now the big obstacle is finding K values for the vents, as that is required to get accurate CFM number. Most vents are 3.5 x 9.5. If I can't find i'll assume around .7

hope we get rain.

Good Afternoon,
We got to our Vermont house about 2:30 ! Mostly cloudy with some breaks of blue sky ! Cooler here now, maybe 80 or so with a pleasant breeze ! Started the smoker about 3 or so with 3 racks of pork ribs for our company! We also have some nice corn on the cob and big baked potatoes to dive into later ! Lawn is not bad so I’m sitting on the porch relaxing now !
Filled with *** and intrigue, bad trashy neighbors walking topless down the country roads drunk as a skunk.
Drew, sounds like my kind of story ! 😉
So now there will be another appointment to find the leak and then we will see how the warranty works
Frits, I believe what they can do while charging the system is inject a die into the lines ! When you find the colored die you found your leak ! I’m surprised he didn’t do that when charging the system !

Hope all having a good Thursday! 🙏

From what I've seen from installer here they don't use the dye till you have an issue. Some of the new acoustic detectors are amazing, they actually check with the system down and pressurized. Then of course the older "Freon" sniffers.
When my condenser went bad on my tractor I added the dye after using the sniffer and having no luck. Then with it fully charged the sniffer found the general area and the black light found the dye leak.

Lou, a detector of some kind or a transmitter.
warmer?

today was much nicer and felt great to be outside until later in the day when heat built up.
This morning particularly was lovely after the rain. spent an hour on BIL's porch with a cold
ginger beer. It was good until I saw it was 200 calories and full of sugar. Sure was zippy though.
an old fashioned "soda" that came with all the taste treats and health downsides.

I didn't get as much done as I hoped partly since my trash can is full of other stuff
going out tomorrow. When it's empty I'll start to fill it with pieces of that storm door.
picked a nice yellow squash and four tomatoes.
kind of a lazy day

Got back from taking supper over to a friend of ours, she's in her 80's or later, got ran over by a bicyclist while getting her mail last week. The guy that hit her broke his hip, she was just bruised and scraped up.

Found out a couple days ago there are plans for a new power line near me, to feed one of those new data centers. Bringing power down from near PA line somewhere. One route will be close where I might see it. Apparently been in the works for awhile, but it just got leaked and people are up in arms over it.

I finally got the letter from the quack about my stroke. At first they were insisting that I had to go into the office to collect it. 6 weeks later they mailed it to me. Exactly what they said they wouldn't do. Quote: "We don't mail anything with the Doctors' signature on it." "You must come into the office to get it." All worried about forgeries. So I accused them of insinuating that I would forge the quacks signature. Not this lad. I might be old but I am not stupid.

Junior gets to go to town tomorrow and mail a letter registered for me. I think I will give him some extra cash to pick up a few things.

Tomorrow is also grass cutting day. Think I will cut the front and the north field. Behind the house doesn't need it yet.

As soon as I get some money (Unemployment Insurance) coming in I will order a hand spreader and some grass seed with fertilizer and top dress the back.It is a little thin in a couple of spots.

Got 8 face cords of cut and split hardwood yesterday. I'll leave that in the driveway until probably late October to season.

My buddy that fell off his truck and shattered his pelvis is going to be in hospital for another 6 to 8 weeks. They flew him from North Bay to Oshawa and then transferred him to a small town hospital near his home.
My company didn't just lose one train driver this summer, they lost two. Both of us were the Northwestern Ontario drivers.
Now they can scramble to get drivers to go up there.

heard today that 36 people got laid off from where I worked a couple years ago, including my old boss. I'm so glad I left when I did, I saw the handwriting on the wall. The company used to be a great small company, but got bought out by a big national company that ruined it. The experts were leaving left and right, and the customers took their business to the experts new companies. I still remember the new big guys coming in to reassure us they would leave us alone and it would be business as usual, and then they started making changes.......
