Good morning!!!!

Good morning, the low is 62 and going to a high of 72°F. Wind ENE 9 mph. 60% chance of showers.

The rain came down in buckets yesterday. Like my Mother used to say, "raining cats and dogs". Then it would taper off to a gentle rain, then back to cats and dogs.

I have a 3 day window to go to town for gas. Maybe I can do it next Thursday and it is forecast rain until then. If the weatherman can be believed.

This is 'cottage country' and the citidiots come from Toronto AND North Bay. They treat the main road I have to drive on like a NASCAR track. So Friday, the weekend and Monday are out of the question for traveling at 10 MPH. SMV or not. Junior has been running on the road for the past 30 years on a 'adult tricycle' and hasn't had a problem.

I encourage the rabbits here, in fact the trees I get knocked down, the whole tree gets left in the bush for the rabbits. My cats like them. Just wish they would bring one or two back whole, I like them too only I like mine cooked.
I guess squirrel and rabbit taste about the same. I have never had squirrel.

Saw Coal Miners Daughter last night on you tube. Good movie.

plowhog and Drew, I get ethanol free gas at my local Shell station, it is called V-power and is the premium gas. I think they are pretty proud of that gas. It sells for about 50 cents/Litre ($1.89/US gal) more than regular. All my small engines get it. Since I switched over to E free I haven't had any trouble with carburetors.

I think today will be another energy conservation day.

I just heard the rain coming down in buckets again and the cat I let out this morning was waiting for me. He hates the rain but likes to do his morning 'duties' outside. When I opened the window for him to come inside, he wasted no time and gave me a blast for making him wait. It sounded like he said, "its about time". "Meow, meow, meow.

Have a safe day all

Good morning! After the cold front cooled things off we have a chilling 72˚ morning with highs only in the mid 90s. Looks like I'll have to do a bit of severe weather preparations - store run, fill up with gas, etc. . . .
as Beryl's path is shown coming very close to us. We need the rain and hopefully the winds will be diminished before it'd gets this far inland.

Since Ring was always good at the old house I went with ring again but since I don't have a doorbell to tie into I had to get the battery operated. My neighbor from the old house has one and he just recharges the battery every 6 months. I also go two plug in Ring cameras to add to the driveway and back yard the outlets are already in the right location. I had to let the battery charge overnight so today I get to install it and connect everything to the app.

My mailbox is stone with a metal door that opens sideways, I'll get a ring mailbox alert later, Best Buy did not have them in the store. I finally got a "flag" for the metal mailbox door so I would not crack any stones trying to mount it.

Replaced a piece of gutter drain hose that had a hole in it after digging it up, and mowed the yard, in all a productive day yesterday, even got in a swim. Water temperature was 92˚ yesterday, this morning after the cold front it is 86˚.

slow and easy morning and staying cool. We have ethanol free gas pumps close by and use it for the small engines. Everything else is diesel fueled

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 6:15AM. Foggy early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High 83F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9PM for the more inland areas of the county.

I had to laugh at the water meter reader yesterday when he complained about having to read 500 meters a day in the heat. First of all, it's mathematically impossible to read that many meters in a day, unless he's working overtime, which I doubt. Second, the high here yesterday was only 73F. I told him he was lucky he wasn't working inland where it was 109F the day before. Some people just love to play the victim.

The Pure Gas app doesn't show any ethanol free fuel available in this area. But the map does show a branch of the same outfit I buy it from up north, so one day I'll have to drop by to see.

I got the VW van moved back farther behind the gate yesterday, with the driver side tires just kissing the curb. Had to use the rope winch with a couple lengths of logging chain to pull it up the slight incline and over the patch where the step used to be. Took a while, as I had to be very careful owing to the close quarters and limited visibility. Don't need any more scratches to fix in the paint! I can walk down the passenger side without having to turn sideways now, but a lawnmower won't fit. Not a big deal as there's plenty of room on the other end of the house. Moved all of the camper cabinets that had been cluttering up the garage back into the van along with all the rolls of foam insulation I'd been collecting. Tried to fit the flooring back in, but it needed a bit of a trim and the afternoon was getting late.

I was supposed to have dinner with a friend, and only found out after knocking off and showering that they felt like they were coming down with a cold. So I made a huge batch of rice, fixed a salad, and burned a piece of meat on the BBQ instead. Fell asleep in front of the TV again.

Not sure what I'll get into today, but it will likely involve unpacking and rearranging.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Morning all, 87 going to 97, tiny bit of rain last night , cloudy/humid now
Successful trip to get son, he had a great time in NYC.
Got to meet up with a former SNL writer and many other writers etc.
Plus he got to see a lot of NYC with his new friends.

Got the UV light replaced in the water line and out to dinner for sushi.

Today, back to the table, need to clean up the bottom, prep for mounting the legs and get ready for Epoxy resin pour in the crack, we are going to keep it clear. Need to make sure it does not leak.

Seems to hot for outdoors work, maybe pool later.

Picked up bagels from Ess-a-bagel before heading back to the train yesterday.

BEF - surprised anyone still needs to visual a meter. Most around the tri-state area are wireless. Mine reports back direct, not even a truck driving by.

Be well,

Clothes dryer not working right. Hot day to be working on it.

Seems to be making heat, and flaps are getting blown out when it runs, and looks clean outside.
Will have to take pipes apart and check closer to dryer, one at bottom of rise to ceiling is clean.

successful morning but I am worn out.
Uncle Drew do you know your face is getting red?...
time to stop.
heat index miserable out, looks like it wants to storm but doesn't.

anyhow, garage is now nicely cleaned out and gardening/seed planting supplies put away neatly for next year.

I hadn't used golf cart in a few weeks and noticed it stuttered a little first starting out.
as if a contact was dirty but then it ran fine. Might be the foot control, not sure what else can go wrong.

staying inside rest of day
though I do have a delivery of veggies for Ken, at least I can get to his house the back away and avoid weekend tourist traffic.

Up early and out to the RC flying field before it got hot and buggy. No wind and not another soul around.
Back home now - another hot one. It was 109º yesterday, and a record 125º in Palm Springs an hour east of us. Barely cooler than Death Valley yesterday at 127º. Prayers for those who are in the hurricane path in TX. Get to higher ground and stay safe.

69°F and no rain.

Neighbors generator was an easy fix yesterday. Going back down today to see if we can reconfigure for Autostart. Seems like his equipment should be capable. Does appear his controller might be overkill and I had to spend time in the install manual. Hopefully it’s just the addition of the proper sensing wire. Of course if so why was it done at initial installation. Guess I need to prove history a bit, but conceivably the install predates his purchase.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

did some splitting and stacking while there was shade on this side of the barn. Still below the 10 hour threshold for first oil change on the Honda engine. Nice that it has a meter to check against.

Good Afternoon,
Clothes dryer not working right. Hot day to be working on it.
Dennis, stackable washer and dryer acting up ! Had to break the safety latch on the washer to get the clothes out ! 😉
Really don’t need that silly lick anyway!

Finally finished up those white oak saw horses ! Actually will pull the legs off and and router a radius on all the edges before glue up ! This wood was destined for the wood stove so I’m happy I could find some use for it before that happened!

Have a cooler evening !!

Had a busy day today. The front of our property by the street is covered up with vines, saplings, and briers.

We've been wanting to clear it out. So over the past couple days I've widdled it down.

Easy way I found to clear it was to back the tractor up to it, toss a chain through the mess. Wrap the chain around it and cinch it tight so I could reach the saplings with the chain saw. Then drag the mess out.

Used the pallet forks to haul the mess to the burn pile.
