Good morning! 75˚F heading to 99˚F.

The porch ceiling is sanded with many arm breaks yesterday. Goal today is to get first coat on. This job will be hired out next time, but hopefully if I do it right that won't be for another 10-12 years.

Kyle I did not know Ben.

Drew hope your cheer-up basket brings desired results.

Goldilocks Wngsprd, too much excitement with "The Three Bears". Have you checked your beds?

Randy, where are you?

Eric, never heard of homeless vegans. You might be on to something. That might be an needed incentive, be productive or no meat for you.

Had some excitement last night. I started out before dark to go bring a few of the bird feeders in (that have been easy for the coons to get)...saw a bear walking about 10 feet from the side of the house...Watched it go pull one of the feeders down...it beat me to it. Told my wife and we started watching out the windows and my dog went crazy...soon saw a second bear and then a third. They were patrolling back and forth in the yard...one even did a perimeter loop around the house. They weren't fazed by the vicious dog barking, or the spotlights, or knocking on the window. Watched one walk down the hill and back...they move so fast. They left after yelling at them...but not in any hurry. Waited a while and took Coco out for her bathroom break on a leash. I was afraid they would bust through my newly redone screened porch to get to the bird food can like they went after Jay's.
............................
Sure hope it doesn't get anymore interesting than that.

71 outside this AM. Heading to upper 80's. Hazy, Hot and Humid. Possible showers...it's summer time weather.

Hope all are on the mends.

Belated B-Day wishes, Ron.

Well, I am officially THE MAN. Yeps...I have impressed the wife, daughters, family and friends as of late yesterday.

Repeat, after me. Mike you are indeed- THE MAN.

My little rodent troubles increased by one.

These two fella's had two more kin moving about.

I watched them for the better part of the day, coming and going around one of our houses. So I got the trap out.

I baited it with Cat food, and sure enough, after many anxious minutes and tingling suspense.....

All four ended up in the trap!

I then proceeded to approach the trap with a nice big tarp, very slowly and relocated them....accordingly.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

And yes, I did not get sprayed. Although the odor still lingers by that house. LOL.

Sorry to read about wife’s Mom, DABSGT. Will try to give a good report. My only prior Alaskan experience was a brief stop on a military medical plane in 1968. Only saw the airfield.

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 89F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

A Fire Weather Watch started last night that will expire Saturday afternoon. The weather guessers are expecting 35 MPH wind gusts with 10-20% humidity with poor recovery overnight. The genny is gassed up and ready to go, and I'll pick up another 20 gallons of E0 when I'm in town later today.

Next thing you know, Mike, they'll be calling you the Skunk Whisperer. When you say "relocate", does that mean the little darlings got a ride somewhere? How did that go?

Looks like your trees are doing well this year, Drew. The fruits of your labors are beautiful! Hope the cheer up basket does the trick for your friend.

Three bears, Wng, and one of them found that feeder "just right"? I hope they move on to greener pastures...

Hope your arm recovers quickly, Don, and that the worst is over.

Yesterday went pretty much as expected, with lots of little bumps along the way. Finally got the backhoe mounted on the tractor, but not before having to use the hydraulic press to free a couple of the bolts from their prison on the lower mount links. One was so badly rusted in it sounded like a pistol shot when it finally broke loose. Then I noticed that one of the fill plugs on the PTO driven pump was missing, and what I could see of the gear in side had a fair amount of surface rust on it. Contacted the dealer where I got it and was told they can't get parts for a Nardi any more, so a silicon plug is in there until I can find something better. Once the pump case was filled with gear oil, I was relieved that all the hydraulics worked, but it looks like a mouse got to one of the hoses and it's got a slow leak at a chew mark. But I got about six feet of trench dug, inadvertently severing the wire that runs from the sprinkler controller to the front valve box, but that can be repaired. I also broke a 45° fitting on the 1 1/2" PVC line, but again, that can be fixed. I didn't find any other obvious leaks, so I'll keep digging. Getting lines where they need to go for the house sprinkler will take more trenching anyway, and I've pretty much made up my mind to sell the tractor with the 4-in-one bucket and backhoe to more easily attract a buyer.

I also removed the borrowed front axle stubs off the van and will return those today, hopefully my last interaction with the ex-mechanic. I was able to get one CV joint removed from each of the jack shafts as well, but the ones on the other end are stuck firmly in place. This morning I'll try using the porta power while they're held in the vise, but so far my luck is at best 50/50 with those sorts of hydraulics as well.:confused2:

Sorry to read passing of an era, Eric.

Drew, you continue to impress.

Just TOO many bears!!!!

Beginning to think we need a massive shot of Get Well on GM lately.

I’d forgotten that major airport time also meant constant barrage of CNN.
