77F and mostly cloudy @ 11:30, calling for a high of 79F for the day ... which apparently we've already hit. Showers and thunderstorms lurking in the area but no rain here yet.

LWS reports the high here yesterday was 90.7F ...

Decent progress made yesterday.

Woman worked on weeding the garden, She's getting close to being done.

Set out the cabbage, broccoli, and peppers to continue hardening off. Peppers got about an hour of direct sunlight and appeared none the worse for it. Many of those are due to be repotted at this point. All of them will need watered today.

Got check up/meds appointment made/confirmed for the 9th.

Got the entire western side of the new forsythia bed sprayed with glyphosate, also sprayed some areas up around the shop, including what's left of the crusher run pile.

2 gallons total applied, got another gallon filtered and loaded into a sprayer so it's ready to go..

Then got the 6 remesh panels laid out on sawhorses and got one side of those sprayed with phosphoric acid. The change was immediate and quite noticeable:

IMG_3213 copy.jpg

After that I headed around back and hooked up the Water Buffalo and refilled it, then started watering and fertilizing the 6 blueberry and 6 rhubarb plants in the garden.

Then I started on the rest of the stuff around back: 2 (newer) redbud trees, the two ornamentals (not sure what they are) and the rings of hosta around each.

Once that was done I headed up to the front next to the road and did the largest Rose of Sharon, and two small oak trees.

Was about to do a larger oak tree that is about to break bud, got the watering can loaded up with fertilizer, and found that the WB was empty so headed back down to the house where the Woman was weeding the garden and about to knock off.

Dropped the WB and hooked up the dump cart which was full of weeds and hauled those up to the compost pile and dumped them.

Came back down and gathered up my phone and the Altec Rockbox and headed back up front and got the fire started to grill some burgers.

Used some of those shagbark hickory chips which I had started soaked an hour or so before. Burgers + Bush's Baked Beans (Homestyle) were delicious. I ended up eating 2, was stuffed.

Local buzzard lean up crew on the job the other day and doing their duty:

Agenda for today:

Dole out meds for coming week.

Get remesh panels moved into the barn before they get wet.

Mow down here around the house.

Started out mowing this year with the deck set at 2.5" just to keep the grass from getting out of control. Have been gradually raising it up, first to 2.75" then to 3".

This mowing I'll kick it up to 3.25" since the temps are warming up.

Probably head up to the shop later to work on that lift cylinder once the rain materializes.

Hope everyone is having a decent Friday ... (y)

65°F and 1.17 inches rain.

Had hoped to continue mowing today, but way too soggy at this point.

Did some maintenance on BX, then mowed a few hours.

Neighbor mechanic returned the Scag, unfixed. Decided engine needs rebuild, which he doesn’t do or be replaced. Not going to do anything at this point. My friend Jim will be here in less than a month. Enthusiastic tinkerer, I will offer it to him as a project during his 3 week stay.

Have laser procedure on my eye this afternoon, rescheduled from 2 weeks ago.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

David, hope the procedure goes well

back inside for good, did some push mowing for exercise, then trimmed the shrubs along the lane and did not get to rv project.
time to conserve energy while running loads of wash

better keep moving RS or the buzzards will carry you away...

Back from a run to Ohio.
Got everything accomplished that I went for, cell camera up and running again, and installed 2 new IP cameras, with a new POE switch. Left my mobile internet there to monitor them until my next trip.
Also changed out another cell game camera and put external battery pack on it.

Last evening one of my brothers and his wife came over since I was there. After dad went to bed we cut down a couple maple trees growing up next to the house into a dogwood tree. This morning I trimmed some other small trees growing up next to the house , and cut some poison ivy vines and creeper that was starting to grow up the side of the house.

Dad had eye Dr appointment today, so I took him over (an hour away) and we had lunch first, meet there by my sister. After lunch they took him to the DR and I came home.

picked up Chinese food for supper, was good.

tried to plan an rv trip over Memorial Day and gave up, most places booked up.
So this evening I worked up a trip down to Washington NC week after next.
Stopping at a Watermelon Park along the Shenandoah River in Berryville VA on the way home, Monday 13th.
may stay another day if in no rush to get home
am hoping my brother and wife can stop over and pull up a chair if the weather is nice.

up and out fairly early tomorrow, Spring clean up at the private school I volunteer at.
I'm trying to avoid weeding this year, plus it's pretty dry out there and weeding would be challenging.
So my job is to use my Makita cordless drill and planting auger and offer assistance to the planting ladies who have lots of gardens
to plant tomorrow. And some of the flowers they are planting I grew for them.
I think each of the lower grades has a class garden also.

just plain run out of energy

Sailing cruise was very nice, actually got to do some time at the helm !
Time for a bit of nautical lexicon... (not that I'm pedantic or such  )

The 'helmsman' is the position/job of steering, so, in this case, you are actually 'at the wheel' as the 'helmsman'.

It comes from very ancient times when the sailor who was steering the warship with a steering-oar (also where we get the word 'starboard', but I digress...). They were exposed and a particular target, so they had a special helmet to wear during combat.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.9C and it's presently 14.4C, overcast, calm with drizzle. There was 0.5mm in the gauge @0900.

Last evenings' Urologist appointment went well. Of course, it turns out that I have an infection in my urethra, so I needed to go into town this morning to the chemist for a 3-week 'course' of tablets. <sigh> More scheduled follow-up to occur.

That's about it, take care all.

Light wind, clouds increased to mostly cloudy and high temp was 82ºF. made coffee to start day, more office and estate work, Step daughter and hubby doing house sitting so I went over for watering instructions. Rain threat late morning, so will see how early I can start bike ride.

Yes it is! Have a safe trip!
They are not so good. Went to the dump this morning and the pedal was like stepping on a marshmallow. It still stops, but not with a firm pedal like I like. Going in Monday at 8 A.M. they will bleed them again. I am tempted to tell them to replace the master cylinder or at the least search for a vacuum leak.

They don't carry anything for a 2013 Dodge Journey
They only go up to 2012.
I can do all 4 rotors, pads and calipers for about a grand. BUT it will have to wait until next spring when I get my income tax rebate. Half of this years' rebate is in my avatar and another grand was taken up in precious metals. Paid down some bills too.

That's a bummer! Hope it can be resolved inexpensively. (Unlikely, I know)

Drinking first cup of coffee. 52° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 75° with partly cloudy skies. .33" of rain yesterday. My conserve energy day ended early. One of my neighbors had got his Pickup stuck in his back yard. Used his tractor to get it unstuck. When I got back home decided to use the information on I had read in mower manual to get deck to raise and lower level. A few adjustments and I had it level. Grease all the fitting while I was at it. Another neighbor called and asked if I would move some garden rocks. Got that done. Stopped at another neighbors and brought their disk home to my place. Disked up the open areas of woods to east of my house. Going to try a Conserve Energy Day again today.

Good morning, the low temp is 49 and going to a high of 72°F. Wind ENE 7 mph. Foggy. Visibility about 100'. 40% chance of showers and maybe a t-storm.

Going down to the lean-to about 10 or so and start cleaning that area up. Most of it is hoe work. I have almost a full trailer of raspberry canes and dirt along with some glass and general all round crap. There are three tires that are going on top of the load. We get to dump off tires for free.

That is my day planned out for me, stay safe all

Plowhog, yep, next week is puppy pick up...going over today to play.

Phoebes under the shelter hatched yesterday...won't be long until fledging, and I can get back to my splitter for a load of rounds I need to split. Saw a baby Mockingbird on the driveway yesterday, too. bad time for the babies with this cool wet weather.

Made a dump run, and stopped for a hike. A little string trimming and garden work, too.
