50 going to 66, cloudy.

RNG, hope you enjoyed the strawberry festival. Sounds nice.

Two bit, sounds like you know a lot about civics and government. Nice that you stepped in to speak.
I got a $2 check today for a class action lawsuit against Costco. I think it’s valid.

We went back roads after leaving sons work, took him up thru the old part of Ellicott City. Roy used to live there.
Did stop at Mission BBQ for an early supper. Had the brisket.
Mowed front yard. Then started looking at trailer wiring on smaller trailer. Only green right blinker rang out as ok. Seems the brown tail light wire is on what should be left blinker, and I couldn’t ring out the yellow. Makes no sense, they worked last year. Don’t remember swapping those wires on the 7 to 5 connector, but maybe I did. I recall only connecting for the brakes on the large trailer, rest should be the same.
I did get gnd thru the frame.
I ended up moving trailer to front of barn to work on it tomorrow.

Has it recovered from the flood? Did they install any floodwalls? There is a small town in western Virginia that I believe has been totally relocated up the hill to move it from the frequent foods.

Ellicott city looks pretty much recovered. One construction underway downtown where maybe they had to totally rebuild.

Good Morning
41° under partly cloudy skies, high of 60 with little chance of rain today.

Yesterday was back to making space in the shop for alpaca wares. So far I’ve been successful at manufacturing space by organizing and consolidating existing space. Yesterday I found a power plane that I have no idea where it came from. It’s a Ryobi, I’m sure that I never bought it. It was on a shelf, in its case where it has likely been for over a decade. My oldest son now has a new plane.

Like all organization projects, things always look worse before they improve. I think I’m at the peak of looking worse now.

Daughter’s surgery went well, she is all settled in here, I had to move the bed around and add grab a grab rail in the bathroom for her, both instructions were received while she was one her way here from the surgery. They are talking about a 12 week recovery, we will see how that goes.

Today, a fellow member of the RC club is coming over, and we are going to spend time on Fusion to share what we have learned and hopefully learn from one another. He bought a laser cutter to cut out balsa parts for models, and uses Fusion for design, I think he is a couple of months ahead of me in the learning process.

Wife is at a Farmers market, so I’m the primary caregiver for the daughter. Fortunately, she is pretty self sufficient, I pretty much just have to make her food and let her dogs out.

This afternoon is the grandson’s outdoor birthday party with his friends from school that was postponed due to bad weather. Something about 40 mph winds and bounce houses not mixing well.

Someone else took a few pictures of the alpacas yesterday, so far none of the actual shearing, but I’ll ask some more.

Mostly, how do you fix a bicycle warped rotor?

Sodamo, glad you're coming back to life.

Ellicott looks good.

Buppies, NO 90's until you pay me the big snow you owe. 😁

Driver's License...clearly too easy to obtain...based on the way I see young folks drive (and adults, too, maybe me included?). Don, ditto on how things were when I got my license...we even had "simulator" machines in Drivers' Ed...much like later arcade games for driving race cars...early early baby version of Popg's flight simulator.

My wife and I had a nice wildflower hike yesterday morning...found a pretty rare one. Then breakfast at Cracker Barrel...new menu since we were last there, and the food was great. Pretty good crowd and still had great service.

Ran a battery's worth of string trimming in the afternoon...more to do.

great alpaca pics Popgadget
That's a lot of socks!
or perhaps a four legged sweater?

not a good morning
had run in with unpleasant owner at local nursery, which my favorite helper there apologized repeatedly for, but he was repeated yelling his instructions about why they would not open until an hour late, and I said I heard you the first time, and left.
no more money to him, needs to work on his people skills
I've never seen the man smile, he clearly doesn't handle stress well.

then I went downtown and both notary places were closed.
so after driving around not accomplishing much and getting ticked off, I came home
I'm pretty sure the day will improve.

As far as driving, every day I see crazy driving. yesterday a guy in left lane crossed 2 lanes and passed car in front of me in right lane, using an entrance ramp, then proceeded to go back left 2 lanes in front of a red truck, then brake checked the truck, before speeding off. Apparently more than 10 MPH over the speed limit wasn't fast enough, and the red truck was passing the car in front of me. Have had multiple cars on the 2 lane road to my house come across the middle line, where I bailed out onto the shoulder. Since my son's wreck, there has been 3 other bad accidents within a mile of the little town below me. One yesterday on my way to get my son.

We still like cracker Barrel. They have a good skillet breakfast, that has eggs, potatoes, cheese, etc all piled together.

Morning all, 55 going up to 61 and sunny, will be getting warmer going forward.
New Dishwasher is in and works great, thanks for all the feedback on that.

Went and finished trimming the bushes along the road and in the front of the house.
Took down another small dead ash, and with it a few hundred pounds of vines that were attached. The usual 20 minute buck and stack turned into almost an hour of ripping and cutting vines and moving them over to an area where I can chip them later.

Then into town for drinks (my usual club soda) to Lambertville Station and then on to Lambertville house, where my wife worked when she was 16 and talked with the staff there for a while about the place. Lambertville House Hotel

Sodamo - hope this is the step that finally fixes Sophie's eyes.

Mostly - asking dad for a cop y of the will would probably lead to more issues and no will. He gets quite agitated and knows something is wrong, but won't work with us.

Popgadget - Happy Alpacas once it gets hot out. Great pictures.

Well off to get some mulch and some trim wood for the dishwasher.
Then to cut open the ceiling in the garage and see how bad the water damage is.

Be well,

and the miss that came with the little tree. Makes the pole saw look tiny. Will be a lot of chips when done.

WOW! The flood really did a number on that town.

Yep, CB is still a good place to eat. Wife likes their pancakes. I like pretty much everything.

Good Morning!

Mid 70's today and some winds. Breezes are OK with me but I don't like strong winds. They bring trouble. Probably no rain and we still need some but we always need some.

Going to see the Tiny Tornado next week for her birthday. So, a few things to get done before I leave.

Have a great Saturday everyone! Prayers for our Nation!

My magnolias had no chance.
When the blossoms just started to open we had several days of high winds.
That ripped off some of the outer petals before they were even fully deployed.
With the previous 2 nights of significant frost the rest of the blossom are brown.
No spectacular show this year.😢

Ellicott city is on the old national pike, and the old B&O RR main line passes thru. It already has grown to include everything around it for miles, this is just the original old town section. There’s a small stream that was ran under downtown via culverts. They were way too small to handle the very large rain, then clogged and the street became the creek. There is an expensive project to rebuild larger storm water tunnels. They did tear down a few of the historic buildings downtown for that project.

Got oil changed in Honda. 209k miles on it. Put on 1k just last week.
Light rain outside getting heavier. Not working on trailer wiring in the rain. Got a new 6 pin connector on order.

71F and partly cloudy @ 11:30, heading up to around 76F for the day's high. Slight chance of a shower this afternoon.

Rained a little earlier, LWS reports 0.04".

Started off yesterday by bringing all the tomato plants outside.

Then took the Cub up and sprayed the screened compost pile, plus some over on the east side of the shop and around the base of the oak tree behind it.

At that point the winds seemed to be picking up, checked WeatherBug - yup 13 mph, so I figured that I would move on to something else until the winds slacked off.

Went down and got the Kubota and came back up and started screening more compost. Started new pile (center) of screened material to avoid getting glyphosate on the tires of the Kubota and tracking it all over:

IMG_3203 copy.jpg

Woman came home while I was doing that so I knocked off and came on down to the house to pow-wow and plan the rest of the day.

She collected the mail on the way in, which had another Menards rebate check in it ... (y)

Remembered one of the next items on the agenda was to remove the Stella D'Oro and hostas from the rear, at the southeast corner of the house so that planting bed could be removed so we agreed on that for the day's work.

Took Kubota back up and grabbed 3 bucketloads of screened material to amend the bed around the oak tree that we cleaned the leaves off the other day.

Woman cleaned out the non-herbicide sprayer and mixed up another batch of peppermint extract and water and started spraying the west planting bed while I was doing that.

I plucked the rebar for the tube feeders while I was back there and had the LM bucket on.

Once that was done I swapped out the Light Material Bucket for the Stump/Shrub Bucket and proceeded around back to start popping out hosta.

Made some progress there, but still lots more to go:

IMG_3201 copy.jpg

Fortunately we have plenty of places where we can replant it ... ;)

Woman split what I got dug out of there, and then we planted it in the new bed around the small oak tree:

IMG_3200 copy.jpg

Still needs mulched.

Woman went around front with the Cub and dragged the Water Buffalo around back ... and after several attempts at finding the correct hose coupler, I got it hooked up and filling.

We had 6 hosta left over ... so we planted that over by the maple at the southwest corner of the house to start filling in that area:

IMG_3202 copy.jpg

Woman sprayed all of the new plantings with peppermint juice.

Once that was done, we were as well ... called it a day and came inside to eat dinner.

After dinner I headed out to the garage and starting filtering more glyphosate premix into the one sprayer I had mostly emptied.

Also moved most the cut plywood for the router and assembly tables onto a furniture dolly so it could be stored under the assembly table top.

Agenda for today:

Dole out meds for this coming week.

Kubota getting low on fuel, hopefully can dispatch The Woman down to the corner to refill the cans.

Hammer in rebar for tube feeder pole in new location and get those put back up.

Seedlings need watered, hopefully can palm that off on The Woman ... once I show Her how to do it.

Front needs mowed along with some other areas, so that's what I'll be spending most of my time on.

Maybe get blade swap done on Cub after mowing.

Fix live trap.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday ... (y)
