That's one my wife will never make, she's deathly allergic to peanuts. But her mom makes it all the time.

peebles got sent to the basement again for pulling off more light bulbs from the tree.

40deg, and got 1.11" of gentle rain today.

Good worship, good lunch with the usual gang, and got a short nap this afternoon.

And tonight after getting home from evening worship, my wife slipped wearing her slippers (on carpet) and fell hard, injuring her wrist. Don't think it's broken. She also did a face plant. Even had a cut on her palm. She was in our walk in closet. She took pain meds and iced it.
even if not broken, wrist injuries suck —BTDTGTTS. One or those buckwheat hill pillows you can heat up will feel amazingly good on the wrist in a couple days…

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 34 going to 48 ! The bulk of the rain has gone by ! It was pretty wild around 9 pm last night !

Dennis, hope your wife recovers quickly ! 🙏

Ron, nice score on the B2910 !

We are living on my retirement funds and constantly drawing on our savings to keep up with inflationary prices
Phil, we are also meeting our financial person this morning ! We both are on SS, Kathleen has a pretty good pension. Mine is not so great, but I try not to complain too much, since some of our friends don’t get a pension ! So yes, we wrestle with how much to safely withdraw from savings ! Inflation makes it difficult!!

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !🙏

Waiting for coffee to finish brewing. 29° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with sun and a few clouds. Finished clean up a neighbors. Got talking about a ad he saw for a Kubota B2910. With low hours. Got ahold of seller. Went up north of me to check it out. Bought it. 500 hours and well taken care of. Will be delivered today. !/3 the cost of the Kubota mower I got a quote for last week. Today I will be making a place to put it in barn.
Looking forward to see the pics.

Good Morning
It’s 34° with a high under 40 forecast. Snow has pretty much ended, no accumulation, it reached 60 last night so the ground is warm. We got 2-1/4” of rain yesterday through this morning.

Yesterday was a mix of chores, went with my wife to the grocery store to fill up our cars with gas, we had a $1.00 per gallon discount with grocery points. Didn’t want to let that slip by. Did some shop cleanup, solved the email alerts from the cameras.
That was as easy as getting a “third party password” from Apple to let the camera software sign into my email outgoing server. Printing lists from the Amazon echo still has me stumped though.

Got the parts delivered up to Allentown, so that project should get done this week.

When I changed the hydraulic oil in the tractor, I drained it till no more came out, changed the filter, and refilled with a gallon less than the published capacity. Started it up, made sure there was hydraulic function, and shut down. Pulled the dipstick, and it was overfilled. I figured that leaving a gallon or wiggle room might absorb any un-drainable oil, but nope, it was clearly too full. Last thing I wanted to do was waste the liquid gold that Kubota labels “Super UDT-2”, so I scrubbed out my old oil drain pan with gasoline until it was spotless, and put it under the drain plug. Got my son and grandson to come and man the dipstick while I drained it down to just above the full line.
I poured what I drained through a fine mesh screen in a funnel back into the pail of oil. There was nothing in the screen, so I guess I did get the pan clean.

The best part of the day was that the wife was baking all day, so every time I wandered back into the house, the smell was new again. The worst part was up on the ladder in the dark, flashlight in my mouth, in the cold rain, cleaning the clogged gutter on the shop. Fortunately it was just at where the downspout outlet was.

Today, I might try to get Alexa and HP to talk to one another, but my afternoon is going to be occupied. We have a trip to Boston, taking some business people to a holiday party, and coming back around 10.
I checked in with an old friend that moved to Boston, and he is going to meet me at the airport, and we will go out for dinner. So I graciously said I would take the trip, and give someone else the night off.
Just for giggles, I checked their price of fuel, $10.21 per gallon for Jet-A, which is essentially kerosene. I paid half that in Palm Beach last week. Fortunately, I won’t need any fuel.

fair skies Popgadget, hope the tail end of storm winds die down

loud whine, could not figure out what in my house could make that noise, and then looked out window to see
fuel oil truck making my delivery. Not worth his time, 58 gallons but always good to have a full tank.
I think I burn about 400 gallons a year, depends upon how cold it gets.

2.61 inches of rain total, my back yard rain gauge agrees. When water starts creeping out into yard, means we got more than two inches of rain.

Morning all, 35 going to 45 and rain, got up to 61 yesterday.
Sons new gf came over yesterday and they cooked lunch and brownies.Seems like a nice girl.
Went to a "miracle bar" at the Logans Inn in town, a company that partners with bars around the world and decorates them for Christmas and has drink specials. Wife liked it, was nice to go out.
Power went out for a minute or two while we were there, interrupting watching the game for a while.

Sorry about the Mrs. BEF , hope the ice helps.

Another tree fell somewhere, ground too soggy to go look, so will wait til later.

Be well,

Good morning, the low temp is 20 and that is the 'high' for the day. Going down to 18°F for the rest of today. Wind NNW 11 mph. 30% chance of flurries. We got an inch overnight. Not going to plow that either.

Got the BB and bucket 'treated', used a combination of cheap cooking spray, Pam and Fluid Film. I won't be using FF again until the price comes down. $19.95/can Canadian plus 13% tax.

Thursday and Friday will both be warm (36), so I will attack the lights then.
I also have a bar light that will be going on the roof rack of the Dodge. The shop I take it to for maintenance will get to do that job.

mpham, I guess you cannot very well in all honesty call your wife the 'ole lady. :giggle:

That is what I worry about if I retire fully. Money.

Have a safe day all

Bill, does your tractor sit outside or is it in a shed?
I used to use Boeshield on the farm but it's now 21 bucks a can too.
lots of stuff on market for half that.
to me the issue is does it have to withstand wind and rain, or just sitting there in the humidity?

In NC I would have to go out during January and spray the machinery stored under the lean to.
The waxy coating only seems to last about three or four months. But probably less if getting rained on.

little family out front got blown around but once straightened, they resumed their cheery
waving at folks going by

while checking on basement fuel oil tank figured I'd better get another filter.
The heater was eleven years old when I got here and had never been cleaned.
First thing I did. So I'm guessing no one has paid much attention to this filter.
looks like top of valve is missing

It is in a Shelter Logic portable shelter. The door is open all the time. Always backed in. I have hydro plumbed into that shelter, burried underground. Basically, like the Dodge, in winter I don't have to clean the snow off the roofs. But it is still in an unheated tent.

That’s half the battle.
