Drew, you might try a Country Clipper ZT. The XLT that I have has a Kawasaki motor and one joystick to operate and steer. It is on the right hand side. The seat is real comfortable and wide enough for my fat a$$.
As for weight, I refuse to weigh myself after the last weight in at the beginning of November where I had gained instead of lost. Want to get to 220 from 250 but not having much luck at it.

Bill, thank you. Thankfully I really like my old fashioned garden tractor for my one acre of lawn.
I don't need to go faster, just would hurt my sore neck more, and at this point in my life, if it takes me an extra ten minutes
to mow the lawn, well that's ok.

But it wasn't ok when looking at ten acres. That was a lot of lawn/pasture to deal with.
my favorite mower was the big tractor and an 84" Land Pride finish mower in the rear.
quiet and comfortable, just humming along, but sure had to be careful about the rear swing.
Was great for going in straight lines, which most of my property involved.

Now for curves, and trees, and flower beds, need to be nimble.
after mowing ten acres for seven years, my appetite for mowing is now quite satisfied.
I have to wear noise cancelling headphones anyway now, particularly when running the power bagger
which is really noisy. Gets me outside, not hard to do. It's the weedeating that for me is no fun.

29 going to 57.

Scott, hope you guys enjoyed the concert. They used to host a lot of championship boxing matches there.

One of my wife's friends was planning to come over yesterday, so roasted 3 batches of coffee, since she always raves about what I give her. While she and my wife caught up on talk, I cut a load of firewood...I must be rusty...second time in a row I've had the tree fall and get hung on another tree's branches...was already dark when I came out of the woods...for the last couple of days we've had the earliest sunsets of the year...but not the latest sunrise until solstice.

Still on the hunt for a Christmas tree.

Drew, dealer asked why I wanted a front mower. Told him because of shoulders not liking a zero turn. So he did a quote for me. Made sure I was sitting down when he handed me quote. Then he told me about a Zero Turn that operates with a joystick. Country Clipper. Will have to take a trip to dealer that sells them. Country Clipper Zero-Turn Mowers

I tried one of those Ron, seems a simple answer, but so much of mowing is just going straight and I found hanging on to a steering wheel
to be the easiest on arthritic arms and hands. Joy stick means constant hand/finger squeezing, however minimal.
But biggest problem for me, and that includes the Ferris I owned, was seemed to be too hard to just go straight. Whole process seemed jerky.
But than I can't dance either...;)
Holding onto steering wheel seems to maintain a straight line the best.

And steering is used for steering, not steering and propulsion.
in race boats they have a throttle man and a driver. You need that much attention to either/both.
tractors of course separate the two functions.
So do cars.

I did a LOT of testing of this while mowing my church's graveyard again and again. Graves were in a straight row and you want to go straight.
I found it easier mowing that way and being sure not to swerve and hit anything.
Steering was simply too fast for me on ZT. I know that is adjustable on some but no matter how much I tried to like my
full suspension Ferris, driving it didn't like me. But what a nice ride. For someone with a bad neck, it was wonderful.
zero turns are also prone to digging up the turf on turns when soil is soft.

those joy stick controls are the hot ticket/super desirable on yachts today; makes docking a boat
so much easier.
If I could afford a nice small boat, I'd have those controls on top of my list.

I think hydrostatic drive enabled a large number of folks who never would have tried owning a tractor
to get into the tractor life. I'll take all the easy driving aids I can get.

I have an X-Mark Lazer Z that I am very happy with now that I installed the suspension seat. A night and day difference from the original seat.
It’s got the typical skid steer type controls, but does not require much effort or grip to operate. My grandson could drive it sitting on my lap at 3 years old.
For the big open areas, I use a Progressive TD65
towed behind a Kubota L6060. The 15-1/2’ cut combined with heat, AC and a decent stereo make it not much of a chore, even without the air ride seat that Kubota wanted over a kilobuck for.

Good Morning!!!! 49F at 4:45AM here in Orcutt, CA.
Sunny. High 63F. Winds N at 15 to 25 mph.

Pretty smooth drive coming south yesterday, and the wind warnings were mostly for naught. Got a little buffeting during the first hour or so, but nothing needing white knuckles. Took the long way around to avoid the steep hills, and the road construction I'd been dodging for months and resulting detours were all gone and the road was nice and smooth. The trip put the van over 10K miles, so I'll call the dealer down here and try to set up an appointment for service, and a warranty item or two.

Looks like I'll be unpacking for the next few days.

TGIF gang!

Bill,
I've been looking at those mowers for a while. Do you know if the joystick can be mounted on the left hand side?

Good morning! Low was only 35°, heading up to 49°. Last day of some decent temps. It got windy last night about 21:00..... I remember something in the forecast about if it starts early, then.....

Errand day..... hope I can gather everything on the list. Wifey already said to prevent any errant items from jumping in the cart....

Did remember to put the heater in the pond yesterday. hopefully has enough time to warm the water enough by the time our "big freeze" comes tomorrow.

Need to stop at the propane supplier and fill 2 small tanks for the shop heater. Planning on some shop time this weekend. Need to make some plaque type boards to mount some decorative signs onto. Nothing like Phil's work......

Also need to finish renovating the deck frames....again.
Though it was so simple but forgot that I needed to shorten them by 6". Just need to remove one end, cut the joists, and reassemble. It just angers me that I totally forgot to do that and assembled them as they were.... I hate double work....

Everyone have a great day!

very cool blue city

went to local apple orchard, saw owner, said I was there for wages.
she looked at me funny and asked wages?
yup, having some guys over to help me tomorrow and I said I'd pay in apples.
So I'm here for the wages.
She got a kick out of that.

a fine currency!

they said this was a record apple production year for them, everything they had planted all came in strongly this year.
usually about a dozen different apples to choose from.
Some like Honey Crisp are so juicy you have to be careful you don't spray juice when eating.
Your mouth just explodes in an apple cider taste.
They are only this fresh for so long. They are all picked so every day even chilled they lose a little something.

it's a great time to be an apple.
