Good morning!!!!

Good morning! Low of 54°, heading up to 86°. No rain.... not even any chances for the next week. Temps climbing back into the 90's.....

Did nothing more than some piddling yesterday, planned out the relocation of some drip lines / manifold to get them out of the way of the addition. Need to dig up an evergreen shrub that's in the way of the addition too (Due to slight change of plan).

Today's agenda is a stop at Costco, then Wally World. Might get started on clearing out the mulch and getting started on that drip line after I get back.
Tomorrow's agenda is to pick up some of the framing materials, son will take his truck also to put the 4x8 sheets in the bed (8' bed).

Thomas, 'lil Boo wants more snacks.... he's putting on quite the show for you.

Kilroy, I WISH the storm would make that left towards Albuquerque..... then we could get some rain!

The wifey's aunt / uncle are in the direct path of Idalia. They are inland (about center of the state) but will still get heavy rain and wind.

Everyone have a great day!

I need something for underneath the motorhome. In the event of a tornado alert while in a campground.
I've ordered some heavy duty straps and earth augers
Now I need the mounts on the vehicle

being a gas vehicle I'd prefer avoiding welding under there so
drilling the frame for a bolt is preferred.
I wonder if a magnetic drill would make this easy.
They are often too big to fit

I use a cordless impact drill to drive in the earth augers.
before I drill anything need to look under there and see if there are
any existing openings that could be used.
This is mostly to keep it from moving or tipping over.

with one on each corner, can't tip over, right?
earth augers aren't that big, so no sense sizing up everything else.
with experience in boat anchoring
I'm thinking the angle of the pull will also make a difference.
Also thinking of drilling augers into ground about one foot outside edge of rv body.
So guessing 45 degree strap angle to ground.
In boating you want it much further out than that but straps are only so large and the longer they are
pretty sure the more they stretch.

so you ME's, if you want to use four 2000# straps to hold down a motorhome, where would you put them.
lot of experience tying down a big boat for a hurricane, none with an rv.
I need to go see how far the frame reinforcement for the rear hitch goes.
looking for something as strong as possible as close to the edge of the rv as possible.

Good Afternoon,

PopG, yes you can get a good boiler for 5 K, but then there is all the labor to disassemble the old one and remove it in sections. Your probably talking a 5 section boiler, so that’s a job in itself ! Boilers last a long time, so that means some piping may need to be replaced! It’s not to hard to come up with 5 to 10 thousand in labor charges on a big project like that !

Are you worried about tornados just when you're out on the road, Drew, or at home, too?

If just out on the road, you could just get in the motor home and drive away from the storm, couldn't you?

FWIW, I made up some stakes from 3/4" diameter hot rolled steel and drove them into the ground at a 45° angle using a Harbor Freight jack hammer. Four stakes, two feet long, two pairs. One pair at the front and rear of the office trailer here. Then I ran 1/2" steel cable up over the frame rails of the trailer between each pair of stakes. There's a turnbuckle in the middle of each cable so I can put tension on the anchors. The trailer wasn't moved at all during last December's wind storm that took off the porch cover, which was only a few feet from it.

Here are some photos of the tie down anchor in the van:

Looking at the photos, I might have to be satisfied by drilling two more holes in the center where there are no obstructions behind the step...

65F and cloudy @ 12:30, high temp today supposed to only reach 65F. Slight chance of a rain shower. We may have had a little rain overnight but the closest LWS says no measurable precip.

Got some bills scheduled for payment yesterday.

Also packaged up the Menards rebates and got those stuck in an envelope and took them down to the PO so they would get postmarked.

Started up the van after I got back to make sure the battery wasn't discharged from a parasitic drain. Fired right up, no issues ... (y)

Dispensed a couple more gallons of glyphosate. Sprayed the south, east, and north perimeters of the garden, west and south sides of frog pond, some other areas on east side of the house, and some of the southeast planting bed.

Also topped the weeds around the red maple and the Japanese cherry out front and then sprayed around those along with edge of the mulch beds around the gingko tree and Rose of Sharon.

Woman made spaghetti for dinner last night ... She also made a chocolate zucchini cake a few days ago with some of the zucchini we froze last year. That turned out great, very moist, was delicious ... finished off the last of it last night.

Went out after dinner and had a look at the night sky for a bit.

There was supposed to be a Starlink String flyover @ 21:19 ... first I've one tried to view. Wasn't able to see it, possibly due to the moon rising ... was very bright even though the trees on the east side were blocking it, lots of light pollution.

Not sure what all agenda for today.

Some of the feeders likely need refilled.

Yard sale coming up this weekend so I may get roped into prepping for that.

Filter more glyphosate solution and refill sprayers.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday ... (y)

Got armrest installed. No pool noodles available this time of year in my area. So I used 1” pipe insulation. Making armrest extend to back post gives someone getting into back something to grab onto. Seat bottom lifts up for storage. Milk crates fit under with 1 1/2” spacer I put under legs. I will not be leaving seat cushions in most of the time. Easy to put them in and out when needed. Whole seat can be removed by removing four 1/4” hitch pins.

I got a couple piddly jobs done. Cut up some cardboard for recycling, took apart the pallet cage I used to remove the heavy tractor tire, and got more hummingbird juice mixed and in the feeder, it was empty. And snagglepuss got a nap on me. Life is good.

I copped a heavy piece of a iron bark branch in the mid section 4 weeks ago. I am on light duties until my ribs heal. It bloody HURT. I am getting better. Duties include laundry, feeding chooks, fighting rooster (arsehole), baking bread and cakes, making pemmican, dishes and filling the house tank with water.

just read that Narcan is soon going to be available OTC for 45 bucks, for two doses.
what every well equipped medicine cabinet should have...
thank goodness this drug works so well

I don't know anyone that abuses hard drugs. If I did, I might buy this.
I do wonder about administering it without a medical license or knowledge of other medical realities.

Big news story here yesterday where the free vending machines have been placed outside the jails. Free of course. Oahu recently placed a law requiring all bars to keep on hand.

Call me jaded, but I feel about 99.9% of over dose of illegal drugs are not accidental.
Did they accidentally take too much? Maybe
Did they accidentally take a tainted drug? Maybe
Did they accidentally take an illegal substance? Not likely.

Fentanyl synthetic opioid can kill you just by breathing it and it is used to mix into illegal drugs to make it more potent. Causing many deaths. A little too much you are dead. Drug dealers will used it to make more money. China manufacture it to hurt the US. Narcan nose spray can revive them if used early enough
Someone probably has a link for this

Here's a photo of the two types of anchors that RAM uses in the van. both use nut plates welded to underneath the sheetmetal for anchors.
View attachment 818672
I'm trying to mount a pair of the larger ones where I don't have access to the back side of the hole, so I'm trying to distribute the load over more holes using a steel plate on the outside of the sheet metal bulkhead. I'll try go post some photos of what I've got later today, OK?

How about tapping a thicker steel plate to accept the tie down and welding it in place, or perhaps use rib nuts if they will clear the obstruction above the fuel tank.
