Mecuricome didn't sting, Merthiolate did...not sure about Iodine...IIRC, both Mecuricome and Merthiolate were red in color. I have seen either since the 1960's.

That's right Roy. It was the Merthiolate that stung because it had alcohol in it.

I thought TBN was set up so that you got a notification email only when a new post was made since the last time you were on TBN, and only one email gets sent. It resets once you go back and read posts again. I was on and off TBN a couple times yesterday, and got a couple email notifications as a result. No PMs about anything. I feel left out!

No Monkey Blood, Don, but I sure remember mom putting Iodine on a deep cut on my chin when I was little. Screamed my head off. I think she switched to Mecuricome shortly after that, and when Bactine came around, started using that instead. Turns out Mecuricome is still around, but these days it's made with out mercury.

I can hear a mountain lion growling in the meadow above the house, probably hoping to catch one of the neighbor's goats or sheep...

Watching "Leave it to Beaver" and Eddie Haskel made a comment: "She is as ugly as the face on the iodine bottle."

I tried to find the face but have failed, unless it is just the skull and cross bones he was referring to. I did learn that there was Iodine and Mecuricome. Do you remember which one stung? We always called it "Monkeyblood" but I'm reading only people in the south called it "Monkeyblood", Is that correct? Did anyone else call it "Monkey Blood"?
Used on me as a kid, but never heard it called monkeybood...but a good nickname.

I was waiting on a phone call from the bumper guy yesterday, so was answering the phone. Usually I just let it go to voicemail, as almost all my calls are either somebody selling something or swindles. So I was laying on my back under the van dash yesterday and the phone rang. Got up and answered by the third ring, but it was some lady wanting to sell me something. I politely requested she put me on the "don't call" list and hung up. Got back under the dash and the phone rings again. Got to it after two and a half rings. Must be getting better at it. It was the SAME LADY! I asked if she hadn't heard me request the don't call list, and she told me she just wanted to verify that this other number was mine, also.:confused2: An hour later that phone rings again, but this time I was standing right next to it. It was a robocall telling me that my Apple iCloud account had been compromised, and to push 1 for assistance. I know that Apple NEVER calls with that kind of info, so I hung up. A little after that I got a text message from the bumper guy that the van bumpers will ship Monday, so I stopped answering phone calls. The Apple scammer tried twice more, and this time I got a recorded copy of the spiel, including a call back number. When I googled that, I confirmed it was a known scam. Be careful out there, gang. There are lots of people that will steal you blind just as close as the Internet or your telephone.
The latest calls that I have been getting are Caller ID'ed as local phone numbers. But when checked on Google or call back. Find they are not working phone numbers. I block all calls that leave no voice mail. Unless they are in my contact list. Blocking the above calls does not work. Because they are calling from some other number.
Is there a way to check actual phone number?

Good morning to all! Low of 42 this morning, sun started rising, then all at once got real foggy. It's burning off slowly over the last hour. It was strange for us, haven't seen fog for the last couple of years.

New forecast is now calling for a good chance of rain next week, everyday starting on Tuesday. Just in time to mess with the Albq. International Balloon Fiesta.

Drew, hope your trip continues to be enjoyable and that you don't have to eat too many 'hotel breakfasts' :D

Didn't get any emails or spam. No weird calls...guess I'm lucky. Got the regular monthly email from TBN.

Got a bit of painting done yesterday, but less than I expected to get done. Back at it today, especially since they are forecasting rain next week.

Everyone have a great weekend! Prayers sent for all.

killing a little time waiting for lunch, sitting in Mcdonalds parking lot at one of the few lights in my home town, watching the passing scene. Went to the lumberyard of my MIL's family, I believe it's the oldest operating lumberyard in the US. They are hanging on by their teeth, though this summer was strong. Gave family members a hug, tracked down where they are setting up the tent for the dinner afterwards, which I'm not going to. Gave my ex a hug, which she really appreciated, as did her husband.

This is a very nice area, too bad I can't afford to live here except in a two bedroom townhouse. Real estate starts in the 400k range, and just goes up up up. Too much for me.

The calls I got came from a spoofed number, in all cases from the real Apple Support 800 number. The dead give away is that the scammer's voicemail gave a different phone number, in the 213 Los Angeles area code, as a call back number.

I've had my own phone number used as a spoofed number, and never quite convinced one poor lady that called me that I wasn't the phone spammer.

I really don't know how spoofing phone numbers works, but I'm sure google could unearth an answer...

New forecast is now calling for a good chance of rain next week, everyday starting on Tuesday. Just in time to mess with the Albq. International Balloon Fiesta.

The remnants of a Pacific typhoon will be hitting the Los Angeles area on Monday, and it'll track through the southwest in the following days. Storms like that are not unusual. Many years ago, one caught a friend and I two thirds of the way down the Baja peninsula on our motorcycles. Our motel rooms flooded, and we were stopped twice in our attempts to get home by flooded roads. We rode through water a foot deep many times on that trip, one I would just as soon forget. But the point is that tropical storms like that are common in August and September, and the Balloon Festival is notorious for horrendous ballon accidents as a result. Maybe that's why so many people attend, who see it as a blood sport? What a horrible thought, but they keep having it the same time of year.

74°F and .26 inches rain.
More area bushogged yesterday. Body sore from so much twisting around backing up. Scared up 2 good sized wild pigs in process. Must have gotten close to their place. Sure would like to get them to permanently relocate, but not hopeful as that area is a small gulch I’ll never get into, too steep, bottom too wet. Their current rooting more destructive than in past. ☹️

Prayers for all
Be safe
have a great day
