Good morning!!!!

I have both, the issue is getting them up the tree high enough to do any good. I am very leary of putting a ladder against the tree to put the ropes up. I have visions of OHSA not approving, not that I care. The more I look at the situation, the cheaper the $3000 for a tree company to come out looks.
If you can't get a throw line over it, pick up a phone.
Don't know why it would be >$1000 though if they are just bringing it down to ground level ?

66°F and .06 inches of much needed rain.

Got the dogs area mowed, which they appreciate.

Good trip to town which included a nice chicken wing and burger lunch at a sports bar. Hard to believe that a simple lunch for 2 was over $90 with the tip. And that was with our discount card. A surprise was they now add a surcease for credit card on top the increased prices. We only had 1 beer and 1 drink. Back in the day that would be more than we’d spend for a night out.

Did get my paint applied. Maybe a pic tomorrow.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning to all! Low of 27°, top wind gust was 30 mph overnight, breezy at around 15-20 mph. We got under an inch of snow, but freezing rain left a nice ice coating under the snow. About a 1/2" of rain in the gauge. High is only going up to 39°, but sunny.

Max had a surprise when he went out this morning..... he loves snow and got all excited.... until he realized that even his his 4 paw drive w/ studded claws wasn't enough to maintain traction! It was quite funny watching him walk....

I'm not sure how I miscalculated the amount of pellets to get for this year. 2 years ago, I bought a full ton.... had enough left over to get through last year. So, I thought a half ton would be sufficient.... wrong---- only 5 bags left! Considering that we burned through 16 bags in Nov and Dec....

Today will be a good day to go and pick up another 1/2 ton. I'm debating on getting a full ton and just store any leftovers.... prices are only going up - right? Now to research what place has the best price .....

Kyle, hope you get over the crud quickly. --- probably just in time to go back to work --- never fails.....

Ron, beautiful pic as usual! I just purchased a stock tank heater that will go in the pond. When it iced over, all the birds were trying to get drinks to no avail. I'm hoping the heater will keep at least a portion open.

Drew, I think you reversed the landlord / tenant statement---- I think they are lucky that they found YOU for a tenant. Maybe it's both ways--- just a great match!

Fritz, glad you didn't get hurt any worse. We don't bounce well anymore....

Thomas, how is the wifey doing? Hope ok. Hopefully work not too busy....

Doug, how is the leg doing? How is Leslie?

Time to get moving.
Everyone have a great day!

That's rough. Good though that you and your family is taking care of her.

48F and cloudy @ 12:00, heading up to around 52F for the high. Chance of rain showers tomorrow AM.

Ten Day calling for fairly warm temps through next Wednesday. Even a high temp of 64F this coming Tuesday.

Snow melting but still a good amount on the ground.

Will get Kubota out of the barn and bring it over the van and load up the gas cans and take them over and refill the Cub.

After that probably toss the cans back in the van and run down to the corner and get some diesel to fill the torpedo heater.

Once that's filled up probably be a good day to fire it up and warm up the garage and doing a little straightening up out there. It will probably take better than a day to get it all straightened up.

Might throw the pallet forks on and bring down a pallet of firewood here to the house for later ... just in case.

Maybe move the wood into the garage from the van.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday ... (y)

Top of the morning to everyone,
Presently 35F after an overnight low of 29 under sunny skies, forecast high of 54. Should be the last sub freezing night for a week or so.

One item on the 'honey do' list now. Wife (Liz) was outside with the dog yesterday and noticed a broken tree hung up in another tree. It is a 60ft tall pine that I'm guessing broke in the storm last week. The break is about 30 ft up with the top 30 hung up in a neighboring tree. It is right above the area where the dog does her 'business' so Liz wants it taken down before it falls down on the dog. A broken tree, hung up in another tree, this is going to take some studying to make sure I can get it down safely.

Ronjhall- it takes quality equipment, a good eye and skill to get the pictures you do. Thank you for posting them.

Let's be careful out there and have a good day.
Like the video, use a smaller rope with weight to throw over in a good position, then pull heavy rope over. Drag down with tractor and long rope.

Dementia patients can be some of the hardest to care for. They don't like having restrictions placed on them, and they get angry. They will say and lash out, sometimes not even knowing who they are yelling at. They will forget where the bathroom is, right after you show them. Prayers for your MIL, your family, and prayers for patience.

The Crud: I'm somewhat better, maybe up to 50%. Last night it was warm inside the house, but I still got chills and went to bed. Woke up hot and threw the covers back. Still blowing nose and coughing up phlegm every few minutes. Nose is running faster than I can "lick it off". Now wife and oldest daughter are coming down with it. My son, who had it first (last Friday with fever) is now much better but still has slight cough. My oldest daughter came down with it hard, overnight last night. She says she's "miserable". Now with 102+fever, but cough not manifested yet. The son and the middle daughter were tested the week before Christmas, with negative on flu and alligatoritis. Same as me Tuesday. Wife and I have had flu shots, kids not. I lost my hunger for a couple of days, but just had some soup. We all have our own rolls of toilet paper to blow our noses with. We are confused as to what it could be. My wife and I believed we had RSV before Christmas, since they couldn't test for that, and we knew 2 babies that had it. It seemed we got over it, and then bam, the bottom fell out again. Hope we are all well prior to next Tuesday when I have to go back to work. maybe just good old fashioned colds...

My wifey is making homemade chicken soup.....after I ate some New England clam chowder out of the can....

I will wait the 2 weeks, and $100, to get a permit and hire a tree company with the equipment necessary to remove it, for about $3000.
$100 Permit? For having a tree cut? That's BAD!

Yup, the tree is within 100ft of the water which puts it in the Chesapeake Resource Protection Act which requires a permit to do ANYTHING within that zone. If you are outside the 100ft zone, no permit needed.

There are only 3 tree cutting services here on the Eastern Shore of VA. Only 2 have large enough equipment to do the job. The larger service I have been dealing with charges $250 just to show up with the equipment, then it is $750/hr for setup, tree cutting and clean up. Doesn't take long for the price to get to $3000+. He will usually show up within a week to do the job. The other service is reportedly cheaper, but he might not show up for a month or two.

Work at night. Deny everything. LOL. Or better yet, tell them one of their trees has created a dangerous situation, and you want them to clear it.

Down here, the across the county road neighbor had a dead oak fall into the road on a holiday weekend. There was actually ice on the road. As I pulled out there on our 5420 Deere, the county commissioner arrived and said he had a man already on the way in their new fully cabbed backhoe. I let them handle it, but stood by just in case. The road was so slippery, I would have had to had a long rope to reach across the road to allow me to pull from the field. Backhoe had a thumb and made short work of it.

Also my little project. Decided that this might be a good time to increase my battery capacity and add 3 more, so had to build another erector set rack. Don’ t ask why black not grey.

I'm back from North Bay. Roads were wet to just starting to tighten up/freeze on the way up, 68 mph. Didn't use cruise control going but did coming home when most of the way was dry. 73 mph all the way home. Gas was what I said this morning. Went into Canadian Tire and blew $198.oo on metric ratchet wrenches, clevises, 20 cut off wheels and a new propane torch head. Lunch was my treat, part of his Christmas gift, $100.oo including tip. I had my usual, full rack of ribs with sweet potato fries and coleslaw.
Yup, David, dogs and cats don't get along. :ROFLMAO:

Temperature when we got home was 41°F. Warmer than NM.

Kyle - sounds like you have what we had, watch for sinus infections as the wife got one and waited.
We got this around the 5th, so three weeks in, stopped the bad cough after the second week, so hope yours goes away faster.

Sleep as upright as you can to stop lungs from filling. Learned this dealing with pneumonia with my MIL.

First two weeks were sleepless constant hell. But then slow recovery, now just tired.

David/Sodamo - how come everything you do looks so good and thought out, even a battery template.

waiting for wife and son to return from Princeton where son and friend hung out for pancakes, record and book shopping.
