Good morning! 50˚F heading to 70˚F, with cloudy skies South wind, a typical Texas December day.
The flu shot this year kept my shoulder sore for 3 days.
Mostly HR determined by age.

Foot Dr's appointment today to see why my L heel hurts. Most likely plantar fasciitis. Hope the dr. can prescribe something besides time. It actually is getting better than it was 6 weeks ago, I'm so tired of limping, last year it was the L knee this year the foot, I want to walk young again. I already have put in special inserts in all my shoes and am doing the foot exercises. The one thing I can't do is wear the brace at night, it interferes with my sleep.

I got the garage 4.5' Christmas star up yesterday and If my heel feels better I'll work on the yard lights today.

I was awakened at about 4am this morning by a text message from the generator telling me that there was a power outage and it was running. Got another one in about 45 minutes letting me know that the power was restored and it shut down.

That is what i want before I drop dead. I'm working on it slowly.

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

i went back to the traditional wood stack in the woodstove and it burned all night just fine - electric heat never kicked in. It also helped that it didn’t drop below 28F. It seems that 25F is a trip point for having to add wood about 5am instead of 7am. I am still learning the idiotsyncracies of this stove. The old Fischer clone was much simpler, but I would have burned close to a cord of wood already! So far our wood consumption is somewhere between a third-cord and a half-cord.

Yesterday, while up at the woodlot, someone over the hill was hunting, and the pellets came through the trees overhead. I don’t believe we were in line-of-sight, but it was quite disconcerting to MrsKilroyJC. I loudly yelled “DOWNRANGE!!!” almost simultaneously with a second shot. After the second shot, I grabbed the snake gun and put three rapid shots into the ground, and then the direction of fire changed for several subsequent shots.

I was more annoyed at having to unnecessarily expend rounds than anything! Luckily this occurred just as we were finishing up for the day, not while we were loading up the truck with firewood or building the offcuts rack.

I have had several bouts with PF - it sucks.

The brace is a PITA in bed - I have had good results with a Strassburg Sock Buy The Strassburg Sock from Strassburg Medical

The worst part of the brace (for those who don’t know) is that it hurts the ankle bone on the OTHER foot every time you roll over, unless you are one of those people who can sleep on their backs and wake up in exactly the same position you went to sleep in. . .

Good Morning
It’s 21 with a high of 40 today under clear skies.

Yesterday’s weather was not kind to this tree at my son’s place. The overnight rain followed by 35 kt winds were the 1-2 punch. At least it didn’t take any wires with it.

The ground is obviously too wet to get to it with the tractor and grapple, so we will probably cut it up in place, or wait for a freeze. it’s not far from his firewood shed if we cut it in place.
Other than that, it was trash night, and did some more cleanup.

Today will start with a bowl of cereal, then I’ve got to get a pot roast started. I’m thinking about searing the meat over a flame on a hot grill instead of browning it in a pan. It will just be beef, potatoes, carrots, onions and some wine, maybe some peas as well.

Then I really should get to the tractor, I’ve got to push the manure pile back and get the oil changed and should start thinking about getting the snow blade mounted, and the driveway markers driven in before a hard freeze. You would think that after 40 years, I would know where the lane is, but without the markers, I always run off it when I plow.

That should be enough to keep me busy for most of the day, and then this evening I get to hang out with the band, eat pot roast and play music

That is very concerning with the shoots fired in your direction. We have similar issues.
What stove did you get to replace the Fisher stove?

Saw an “outdoors with Morgan’s” episode where he said he charges $300 cord plus delivery for firewood. Ouch. That’s north of Pittsburgh.

Around here $300-$315 cord depending on length wood and size with in 20 miles,least $75 cord for dry and they waiting list are growing.

I committed to making chocolate muffins and blueberry muffins for school Snowflake Festival tomorrow but before I start baking,
I fired up the second inflatable.

you will see that Mrs. Claus complained over her seating comfort, so I had to give her a few more pillows. Happy wife, happy life.
now the five families going up and down the little private road close by can easily see this through the window.
And it stays clean and doesn't blow away.
though if I invite anyone over, they are going to get ejected to the outdoors.

This is about 10 cords of firewood waiting to be stacked. I use the frontend loader to pick up a scoop and holding it at the most convenient hight for stacking and when stacking up over 6 ft or so I will stand on the load bed of the RTV to get the row up to 8 to 10 ft high

Outside chores done E muffin hit the spot at 5am.
Counted total 46 turkeys in drive front field and travel road,at one point 4 vehicles stop waiting for the trukeys to cross road 1 at time.
Plans for today...soon trap and rake in hand cleaning up limbs branches cause by mother nature pruning of trees last couple days,if enought day left check out new location of 2 game cams and date night...it's a putter day.

I can't remember when I didn't get an annual flu shot, and a mildly sore arm is about all the side effect I've seen. And usually not even that. I also can't remember the last time I ever got the flu, it's been so long. Now I've probably jinxed myself...

Good idea shouting "downrange", KJC, but I'd be on the phone to the sheriff's office after that to file a complaint.

You've got some dream wood there, Frits. The stuff I cut is crooked as a dog's hind leg, and if I can get a stack up to four feet high without it falling over, I'm lucky.

Pulled the leaky side-by-side tire off yesterday and patched the sidewall. Used a wire brush in an angle grinder to clean the stop leak off the inside before applying the glue, and the patch seemed to stick pretty well. Also used a heat gun to warm the surface before applying the glue. Remounted the tire and was pleased and relieved that the beads seated right away. Had a heck of a time getting them to seat when I first mounted those tires.

Good morning! 46˚F only rising to 52˚ cloudy with a light West wind.

Kia battery replaced but start/stop still has not kicked in. I'll have to go down the list of qualifications to see which one is not met, or not do anything because I immediately disable it on each drive anyway. The ranger took a few trips before it's start/stop started working again, so first I'll just wait a while before I do anything.

Front yard is mowed and edged, the frost last week made it look splotchy green and brown.

Neighbor called about her garage door not working, after various tries and troubleshooting got it working. A GFI had tripped and all the outlets in the garage including the one in the ceiling for the garage door opener were affected. A reset and everything worked.

Tomorrow will be challenging at the "farm". Predicted 37˚ and raining. At least I got my warm holiday tractor hat in mail yesterday.

The hunting laws for Maryland are very relaxed compared to many states. For the last 30 years none of our neighbors were hunting and this new neighbor wants to hunt his 5 acres that is open land except a small spit of land next to our property and houses. Sure hope he will use good aim and not get bullets coming our way. He is welcome to hunt but the idea that he has to do it right next to us is unsettling. He is relying on his deer feeder luring our deers over to his little piece of land where he can hide and shoot in our direction I might add. I was walking up to get the mail and was pretty close to his deer stand when the shot came. So he got one yesterday as it was close to getting dark. Two weeks left of the rifle season for deer hunting

49 going to 64 and rain, maybe an inch. We need it.

2 sons and 1 DIL still here, been enjoying time with them.

Did my planned dump run and hiked the battlefield forest to the river...seems like many other folks had the same idea: nice day, ate too much, let's go hike it off. Good collection of dogs, too. I had to rescue a box turtle off the road...thought they'd all be hibernating by now.

Gas in Goliad Texas on Nov 26th was $2.51/gallon. A price war between Circle k and the Texan gas stations. It may have come down more yet. It was $2.69/gallon here and diesel $3.95/gallon today.

Rough day yesterday.

Went to see the Wife's oncologist. Biopsy and all the prior tests are inconclusive on her. Will have to have surgery soon. We expected that, we were hoping for more conclusive results on tests and imaging.

Most of the meeting after the initial diagnosis sent me into a brain fog.

Still there this AM.

I am so behind on this board. I miss you all, and hope I haven't missed too much. Work is busy. I need to stay away from a scale, it would scare me, even though I'm on my feet and working much harder than I used to. Job is great.

Don, you didn't mention it but that blowup reminded me of Drew since he said he had a beard....

Shaving....Paul Harvey used to plead with us men to shave regularly. I have a goatee that is 95% white now. I blame the grey hairs on having kids. Still plenty of brown hair on top.

I'm not getting but a few minutes a day to play with the new cnc mill. I need a week of unmolested time to get something going on it. I need to work out the post processor for mastercam and get all the tools loaded. And create a toollist spreadsheet.

Morning all, 20 going up to 46 and saying the sun will be up any time now.
Got two more panels up after prepping for outlets etc.
Next few walls will be lots of cutting around electrical, pipes and vents.

Also got the water filter changed.

I use the headlamp when working in the outlets. Great to have a focused light in the small box. Mine is an one and not that bright, but really helps. Bought an M18 light (1100 Lumen flood) and use that to light the garage while working with the power out.

Thanks for the reminder PopG - time for the driveway markers and still need to wrap the bushes.

How low can you turn it down and still be burning on the catalyst. Do you run it on low with the catalyst off? Says for up to 2400 sq ft. Just wondering
