Hair cut in the agenda. Nothing else planned, maybe finish mowing field tonight.

73 outside this AM, heading towards upper 90's. Humid. Possible heat highs the next three days. Sure feels like it. Grass is still green though, the pop-up thunderstorms seems to juice it up just right. For almost the end of July it is impressive.

It was supposed to be a final day on the weed whacker yesterday. Turned into a day with the tractor. Need to get fuel for everything today. Ran out of diesel with two passes left in the back field. Some other person looks to have refueled some other piece of machinery and got me out of my fueling pattern. At least I made it back to the house, but not happy.

Restart on the Milk House today. Need to get the electric done on one wall. Busting through concrete to do it. Time consuming and messy. Then three other walls. At this rate it looks like winter before I am done with the walls, electric and siding.

Prayers to those ailing.

Be safe today,

Oh, I am in a real legal battle with insurance. I just got my policy for my house for the next cycle. A 55 percent increase in cost for the same coverage. Are others seeing policy increases this exorbitant?

Yesterday on drive home on the interstate, passed two gold wing motorcycles, each had little suitcase trailer towing behind, wife behind hubby on each bike.
The front guy was doing something on his cell phone in his left hand, while going 70 mph.

Texas, uh you can have your heat back, that's enough please
We have plenty to share.

Good morning! 77˚F only heading to 101˚ today.

My New hearing aids, Philips Hearlink 9030, are in my ears and I have to remind my wife not to talk so loud. I found out there are birds on Whipper's walk trail even at 101˚ yesterday, and I heard a soft spoken cashier at the store yesterday. The microwave also has new beeps. I actually might have to get them adjusted down a bit when I go back for my 2 week follow-up.
Next challenge, since they are paired with my I-phone, is if I can understand the accents on the phone. They have an intelligent learning chip in them and seamlessly switch to the best hearing options/settings. Not having to switch channels was a big plus in choosing these particular Philips hearing aids along with the rechargeable batteries. The only time I have to switch to channel 2 is when a building is equipped with t-coil, most of the buildings in our senior neighborhood have t-coil connected to the speaker's mic.
I have till January 22, 2023 to return them, Costco really makes it easy. Insurance pays $500 every 3 years for hearing aids but I have to send them the bill and wait a few months for them to process it. The warranty is good for 3 years and Costco offers free adjustments.

With new glasses, new hearing aids and a new knee I feel 10 years younger!

Bird, I can hear a lot better with these hearing aids, they really have made some good improvements in the last 8 years.

In the local news. A new nailed solar shingle manufacturing plant is starting up in our town to make these:
No more bolting panels to the roof and then having problems after a hail storm. I think they will do well especially if they can be integrated into charging a Tesla which are made about 20 miles down the road.

Good Morning
It’s 82 and going to the high 90’s today.

Yesterday was nostalgic in the shop, except for hauling grain into the barn, and loading wife’s SUV for this mornings farmers market.

I’m thinking about flying the little plane to Lancaster for lunch today, then I’ll have to put the last stuff into the KubVan and go load in for tonight’s show. That’s gonna be warm…..

Good Morning All,

Scaredy, just having fun with you on the eggs. If I raised them, fed them, protected them from hawks and other things with teeth that truly like chicken for lunch,
then my price tag would read: Priceless
I know that you were :) these are really good eggs, and the chickens follow me around, inspect the food cart, snd converse with me, ❤️

79F and partly cloudy @ 09:30, HI 82F, heading up to a high of around 88F for the day. Scattered thunderstorms developing this afternoon, chance of rain is 60%. Big area of showers/thunderstorms currently over in northeast IN and northwest OH moving this way.

Refilled hopper and 1 suet feeder first thing yesterday.

Watered plants/seedlings in pots.

Replaced bag on Japanese Beetle trap, was full.

Got Kubota moved down and soaped up and hosed off twice yesterday. Seemed to work pretty well, just using a solution of water + dishwashing detergent in a hand pump sprayer and then the garden hose to rinse it off. No pressure washer. Probably hit it again at least one more time, need to have a look though.

A little more clean up done in the shop.

Refueled Cub.

Got most (75%) of the mowing done down here around the house.

More glyphosate spraying done along the new west edge of the expanded garden area, need to refill sprayer.

Agenda for today:

Refill sprayer with glyphosate, maybe finish up the spraying on that western edge.

See about hooking up the tiller and moving it into the shop, so it can be serviced later today when/if the rain develops.

Finish mowing down around the house.

Get the front lawn mowed.

Homeowners insurance cost up around 31% this year ... :(

toppop, wishing you quick improvements.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday ... (y)

Dump run was done a couple hours ago...pretty full load of trash and recycle
Used the air wand to blow out the garage and the Gator (Gator really needs a bath!!). There were a lot of acorns on the drive (near the garage and sidewalks), so gave them a shot too. Easy way to fall, walking on acorns...
There was about ½ dozen branches in the bed of the Gator, so I cranked up the tractor and chipped them. If we get a cooler day, I have more branches to drop and chip...doesn't look like it'll be this weekend though. I leave the tractor on the lawn, so I move it every week or so. Otherwise, the weight of the tractor will kill the grass under the tires.
Hot now (88°), so I'm done for the day...

67°F and 1.0 inches rain.

My 1st flush should be getting a nice clean out as I left them open. Always amazed at the collection of palm seeds and pebbles. Makes sense that the palm seeds are there but the only way pebbles can be there are to be carried by the birds as well. Leads me to believe that the dropping on the metal roof is entertaining for them.

My pre tank filters do a terrific job capturing the lighter debris that washes off the roof. These are home made filters consisting of a 22” effluent filter in a 4 inch PVC case. The 22 inch filter is made more effective using a nylon mesh paint filter and panty hose leg. I use 2 in series. The first at point the gutter feeds come together and another just before my tanks. The fact this 2nd filter is about 90% cleaner confirms how effective.

The real payoff is how clean my tanks stay and increased lifetime of the post tank filters. Those will get replaced as part of the water quality study.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

what a crummy morning. Went over to check on sick friend, he looked white as a sheet, took two hours to get up the stairs and back down, wife and I chatted and agreed
to call 911. Hauled him off in ambulance to ER, after they gave him oxygen and a drip he looked better already. Lost a lot of blood and not sure why.
Stayed with wife for a while but he was out of danger, I hope, and just starting the long wait for lab work to get done. Time for me to leave.
He never gets sick and his wife is worried sick. Really glad I went over there this morning.

I don't intend to do anything today except chill. Which sure won't happen outside.

Ken, hope the car a/c gets fixed quick. I can't imagine...

Greenwood Mall hero put 8 rounds in the bad guy from 40 yards with a handgun.
I know nothing about handguns but that sounds like pretty darn good shooting.
Boy was he the right guy at the right time.
I don't know how many rounds his gun has but he must have just kept blasting away.
8 hits is a lot. All over in 15 seconds. Wait until the video tapes come out. The guy will be rich from you tube royalties if he's smart.
He's likely just a good citizen. Out with his girlfriend. I bet he was defending her too.

thanks David. Very close friend, used to be the guy in perfect condition that I always felt like a fat slob next to.
Well I had my day, he's having his.

I am sitting here having a coffee, the dog is asleep, and I have a load going in the laundry ... I keep thinking that I should be doing something, going somewhere. I never get a "nothing" day. Feels very strange. Chickens are starting to come to the window though. Hot out. I want to prep and paint the bush guard that I have for my truck. I should see if my tires / rims have arrived yet.
Who knows what the day brings.

68F with light rain @ 14:30.

Finished fishing the squash/pumpkin plants out of the wading pools (started last night) first thing. That idea worked pretty good for the most part (saved having to water them daily) but a few days ago we got enough rain that they were starting to drown so they needed to be gotten out and the pools emptied. One of the pools had a front in it. Had some losses but most of the plants are still alive.

Then went to put tiller on tractor. Discovered I had parked the MMM in front of the tiller (sigh)

So then it was put the loader on so I could swap out the bucket for the pallet forks to move the MMM out of the way.

Moved van so I could get to the loader.

Got loader hooked up ... and promptly discovered that the last hose (that I haven't replaced) was leaking pretty good. Need to check up in the shop and see if I have a replacement.

At that point I threw in the towel on that project for the moment and decided to see if I could get the front done before the rain got here.

Was just finishing that up when the front arrived. Was pretty wild - it was so windy from the outflow, and kicking up so much dust that I could see coming from a distance, that I thought it was a wall of rain headed my way. Nope - just wind.

The rain did eventually arrive, but by that time I had parked the Cub and was inside having a little lunch. LWS reports 0.11" so far.

Surprised by how much it dropped the temp.

Will be heading up to the shop here in a few, probably be some welding on the agenda this afternoon along with some more clean up.
