63 sunny and relatively low humidity, going to 88.

Prayers, Toppop.

Buppies, hope you get some sleep and rest...drink lots of water, too.

LS, sounds like you need some quality rest, too. Sorry you're tired and glad the migraine stayed away.

Don, I think we all guessed you were on a cruise...glad you had good weather...hope the meals were up to your quality.

Rip, that was a scary storm pic..sorry so much damage. I didn't think we had any, then found where the top of a hundred year old willow oak had blown off...it was already damaged from the ice storm, so provided the strong wind just the right opening to get under the canopy.

Scaredy, great looking car cruise...bet it's fun.

Hiked Cole Mountain yesterday. Really beautiful...has one of Virginia's few big balds along the ridge, providing good views and breezes.

Talked with a number of thru-hikers. Most of them get trail names, like one guy was "River butt", and a young woman was named "Franklin's mom". I asked her how old he is, and she said ten. Very proud of his mom.

Good Morning.
It’s already 76, and likely to see 90 today. Clear skies and dry.

Yesterday followed the plan, to the extent that one existed. Breakfast was good, as you might expect, followed by coming up with replacements for these seat slats-
IMG_9209.jpg

Ripped some cedar boards and rounded the edges to come up with these-

IMG_9208.jpg

Then I decided to revisit the string trimming, I actually made progress, I thought cleaning up these fence lines with the Makita trimmer was going to be like emptying the ocean with a Dixie cup, but now I think it might be possible. If you look to the right side of the picture you can see what I’m up against, but I’m making progress.

IMG_9211.jpg

Next was to do all the edges and trimming with the Lazer, then hook up the Progressive and do the open areas. My grandson came up to help with tractor mowing, and blowing off the mowers when we were finished.

IMG_9210.jpg

Got everything finished up, parked the mower, put the tractor away, and tidied up a bit.

Wife had a farmers market today so I was tasked with loading up her SUV with her merchandise, racks, canopy, etc.

Finally sat down for a quick dinner, and went off to play music.

Might revisit the string trimming today, but I’ve got to be cleaned up and not worn out at 3 to play music again, so not sure.

I want to talk to the kids, and see when everyone is around, I’ve got a hankering to fire up the smoker, thinking brisket and pork shoulders, but being empty nesters, cooking up 20 or 30 lbs of meat without a crowd to feed doesn’t make much sense. Might be a 4th of July event.

80F and sunny @ 10:00, heading up to around 91F for the high today, clouding up later on. HI 83F.

Refilled hopper feeder first thing yesterday, also 2 suet feeders.

Moved seedlings/plants out of garage.

Refilled/rebaited chipmunk trap out front.

Moved more potted squash/pumpkin plants around back into the 3rd wading pool and got those watered. Pool No.'s 1 and 2 were almost dry with no standing water so they got a gallon each.

Watered the remaining plants in front.

Revised mowing plan, decided to mow front so I made trip down to the corner with a couple of cans and got 7 gallons of gas.

Got front lawn all mowed.

Hooked up Water Buffalo and towed it around front and used the remainder of the water in it to water the plants in the second circle where the Coral Bells are planted.

Mowed upper part of the compost/woodlot.

Refilled Water Buffalo.

Got another 6 Yellow Crookneck squash planted, still have 6 left to go.

Caught another chipmunk in the trap out front.

Ended the day visiting with Rocky and his brother in the cool of nightfall and discussing the state of things in the World. He helpfully removed the chipmunk from the trap before picking out whatever sunflower seeds were still floating on the water:

IMG_1792 copy.jpg

They were having some trouble agreeing about exactly whose sunflower seeds they were.

Plans for today:

Move plants out of the garage.

Refill/rebait chipmunk trap. Dispose of chipmunk carcass if it's still around.

Take dump cart and get a load of screened compost for planting the Yellow Crookneck squash before it gets real hot out.

Turn on AC in shop while I'm up there.

Water plants out front.

Maybe mow down around the house ... since there will be some shade and we're due for rain/thunderstorms tomorrow (70% chance)

Work on B2910 during the warmest part of the day.

Hope every has a great Saturday !

81° and 74% humidity, but humidity feels much worse.
IMG_5022.JPG

Got the garden seat put together. Doesn’t steer too good in gravel. Maybe garden will be better. Garden growing good. Saw little cantaloupes growing.
IMG_5020.JPG

Couldn’t get brush b gone sprayer to spray, so put it in a new sprayer I had picked up at Menards as a spare last week on way back from Ohio.
Decided too humid to work outside. Kept sweating on my glasses and couldn’t see.

Another sleepless night. Non-stop lightning and thunderstorms. At least we got some much needed rain. 2.0" on my gauge.

Good morning to all! Low was 62°, going up to 76°. Mostly cloudy, hazy sunshine. Better chances of rain / T-storms this afternoon. Last evening, looked like a storm was approaching, but it fell apart. Just some out-flowing breezes.

A better sleep last night, did have some trouble falling asleep, but once out.... just stayed out. Feeling much better this morning.

Wng, beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing. How many hours do you normally get to hike a week?

PopG, beautiful place you have. Hope the GS enjoyed his tractor time!

Funny thing, I thought about Don last evening wondering where he was, and I was going to check this morning when his last post was..... low and behold... there's his post! Nice cruise pic.

Today's agenda.... basically yesterday's agenda. Hopefully it will actually happen today. It will, at least, get started....

Going to get started....
Everyone have a great day!

66°F and .17 inches rain.

Making it to the PO and a dump run were the two most productive activities of my day otherwise I excelled at energy conservation. Nice day.

Goal is to be a bit more productive today, but how will remain undefined until after coffee.

Safe travels to Drew, RNG, and anyone else.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Dump run is done...boy! had a lot to take today!!

Mowed a little more than half the lawn...it's about 85° now...I'll do more if it cools later...or tomorrow morning.
Did cut it higher than usual...this heat would burn the grass if cut shorter
Time for a beer and lunch...

Already made a date for this evening, diner in PA.
Going to take mower down along creek soon, it didn’t get mowed last time, and has a lot of shade. Waiting for grass to dry some more.
Haven’t mowed on other side of creek yet. Really need to put grapple on and pick up a small tree over there that fell, and some poison ivy covered stuff that fell on this side, that I mow around.
Too hot to work on shed.
Kitten is wore out and asleep.

83 in West Kill, NY. Ok drive, just under four hours.
dropped off trailer and golf cart at cabin, said hi to everyone and came back to enjoy some a/c and a rest. House isn't quite finished but awesome view and I'm delighted to be here.
Neck hurts, need to rest

Drew, glad you made it ! Apparently, your setup for the cart worked ok..... enjoy your trip!

88° and humidity dropped to 47%

Mowed across creek for first time. Used ZT with deck raised all the way. Looks rough, and caught a trespasser running away.
IMG_5030.JPG

Did hit some sticks, went around big ones I could see, moved a few. Blades definitely need sharpened now, didn’t cut the plantain tops well when I mowed on this side of creek up to where son mowed last time. I then gave front yard a quick cut again.

Then sprayed a little weed juice

got a shower to get ready for date night.

Drew, NY is very pretty, but a messed up state.

I was able to change out the drippers. Then moved the last bit of materials away from the front of the shop.... now looks strange, but an improvement.

Then got started on cutting the pieces / parts for the picket fence extension. Finished up the cuts and staged everything where it will be used.

The weather was cooperating, nice temp, 75°, partly sunny... I was on a roll....
The lonely single dark cloud started getting bigger and bigger, drifting this way.... I started to gather the tools needed to put the fence framework together..... BA-BOOM! First strike was close. I don't work under or near trees when there is lightning. Went up on the porch and it started raining.....

Still sprinkling (no actual steady rain) and rumbling. I guess I'm done outside for today. I am happy that I accomplished something.... even if it wasn't everything I wanted to do.

I'm going to make Philly cheesesteaks for dinner with a side of fries. Red, White, and Blue sherbet for desert.

Outside temp is now 62°. Full cloud cover.
