Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low only dropped to 37°, going for a high of 75°, sunny. Breezes come back today, the higher winds, 30-40 mph with gusts to 50 come back tomorrow to ruin any outside work. Oh well, that's the nature of spring in the SW......

My old neighbor (that bought the LS tractor) came in with his RV for a visit last night around 8ish. He looks really good since I last saw him....like he got 10 years younger. He is feeling much better too! (Must be because of his new girlfriend and traveling companion)(she's a retired schoolteacher, so probably keeping him in line):cautious:;)

Went out and got him hooked up to water / power and called it a night.... we'll get caught up today. He has a really nice 28' class C RV that he got about 6 months ago. A lot easier to set up than his old fifth wheel. I am going to make a drawer for him today to put in a blank space in the RV. We'll do some grilling tonight and they will head out tomorrow. They are going up to Montana, with a bunch of stops along the way.(y)

I was able to get all the staining done on the rest of the fence materials. Also 10 more sections of posts / rail supports installed with the help of the oldest son and GS. Now I just need a couple calm days to install the metal panels. We only have 14 more posts / sections to do, so right at the halfway mark (for now).... I think I'll need about another 10 sections to complete the entire area we want to do. Hopefully won't be too expensive, we might wait a couple months before getting the materials.

David and Randy, glad to hear your surgeries were successful! Now rest up and enjoy the new found vision clarity!

Buppies, good to hear your surgery is healing also!

Roy, hope you feel better and and get a good report from the Dr.

Paul, nice job on the enclosures.

Has anyone had contact with RonJ ? I hope he's doing ok.

Gotta get my butt in gear....
Everyone have a great day!

I have cataracs in my right eye. Still with glasses 20/20,
but I've gotta keep an eye on them. My Grandfather died blind from glaucoma.

Dump run done...wife and stepdaughter heading to Walmart.
I'm babysitting the dog (or maybe she's babysitting me)

Miserable day (raining, chilly) outside, so I'm kicking back watching an old SF movie ("Beyond the Time Barrier"), having a shot of whiskey now and then.

I remember when I had my cataract operation (and I probably wrote this before), I was given some kind of tranquilizer. I recall singing "Some Enchanted Evening" with my nurse

Strange...what some drugs do to one...

65°F and 1.13 inches rain. Raining as I type.

Another light duty day, likely inside, conserve energy one. Tidying up my office area should qualify.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon all. Still getting bashed around by incessant cold winds, making it quite miserable to be outside for long - or perhaps it's just me getting ever more "nesh" with age.

We had a trip over the hills to see our new granddaughter and opted on the way back to take a more scenic route. Got stuck behind a Tesla doing just 20 mph on a section of road with no over taking. Wondered if that is what is done to try and eke out a few extra miles from a depleted battery into a headwind, if not can only think they were really enjoying the view.

Don, nicely proportioned blade holder !

Roy, hope they get your angina sorted soon. In the meantime, go easy with the Helen Mirren films ;)

You guys that have gotten the catarac surgery...Is there any pain involved?

No pain at all during the procedure. Post surgery I’m having a bit of scratchy sensation, not painful, and less irritating than when getting something in my eye. I don’t rub it as instructed NOT to.

Bird, I’m still having issues coming to that conclusion. At this point I just convince myself that taking longer is acceptable alternative.

My bifocals are ok for reading, slightly better than no glasses, but my distance vision is vastly improved and better with no glasses. Colors are so sharp and bright, I’d forgotten what the world looks like. Now when I see a cat from 300’ I can tell he has legs and not just form moving across the ground.

Amazing isn’t it? After the tech removed my patch she did a quick read the chart just on the right eye, said I was reading the 20/60 line, which was good. Left chart up as she went over instructions, so curious me decided I should put my glasses on. Could barely make out the line above. Removed glasses and surprised at improvement.

Discussed with Dr and he said my prescription was now off and they would redo later, but for now it was basically whatever I felt more comfortable, either with or without as neither would be actually correct, but no point in making an interim correction. Think he said they do a vision test next followup.

Good whatever time it is, Heavy rains on trip to sons competition.

Glad he stuck with it to the end, proud of him as he was not really liking the whole thing.
Will see him later and find out how they did in the finals. Think they did a good job.

Mostly - have fun on your ride. It's been a while since I did the longer 62 to 80 mile rides. Hoping I can get back to that some day.

RS- We have tons of wild strawberries here if you want them! My mother used to make jam from them, but back then it was 4 or 5 of us kids picking them. Takes a lot of wild strawberry to make anything since they are so tiny.

Ground is still soft and feels spongy. Hope it dries out a bit so I can get that side area cleared to start planting.

Stay safe and be well, and glad to hear the eye surgeries went well.

Cataracts tend to be progressive I guess. Probably at least 10 years ago Dr said I had them but no concern. Every year at my exam he’d comment on change. 2 years ago he said they had reached point of concern. Sophie was under going her ordeal and I said I would wait until she was done.

Early start this morning at the Gardens plant sale where our job was to supply the WFPB workers with food. Breakfast burritos made with potatoes and our special hummus and spices was on the menu. There were none left to bring home.

The other workers got kolaches. The person who got them was excited for us because she called us yesterday and said the bakery had a sign up that said vegan kolaches available. We went by there yesterday and there was no sign and no vegan kolaches on the menu. Apparently they do make vegetarian (cheese and egg) and the person making the sign thought vegan was a shorter spelling for the word vegetarian. da.

Just heard of a new term today "TRACTOR BEVERAGE" which Chipolte is using.

No, he had to sell the tractor when he left..... medical scare, similar to what you went through. He is now full time RVing.

Drawer for Harold's RV is done and assembled.... he forgot to get some drawer slides, so he ran into town to get some.

Surprisingly, on a $120K unit, they put in a solid steel ladder to get up into the over the cab area..... only problem with it, the "steps" are only 1" wide angle. So, took the opportunity to make some nice oak steps for it. They should make it a little easier/comfortable to climb...
.image.jpg
It's a really loaded RV with top of the line everything and many upgrades/extras...... I can't believe that they cheaped out on the ladder.......

40F @ 18:45, with some "showers in the area" they say.

Got kind of "wintery" earlier on the trip out though:

Trip to Harbor Freight and Ace Hardware both beyond successful:

1. Grabbed a Sausage McMuffin and Hashbrowns on way back ...

2. Remembered to grab an oil seal puller tool from HF along with the punches.

3. Got the short section of stovepipe at Ace and made the haul on some seeds:

Mostly eliminating the need to place an order, although there are still a few items I'd like in addition - like those low-acid yellow tomatoes and additional varieties of winter squash and some pumpkins - that I'll check the corner hardware store for.

Since space will limited in the fenced in garden area down here at the house, I'll probably till up an area up in the compost/woodlot and put the squash/pumpkin patch up there. Doubtful that anything I'd plant there would be subject to be eaten by critters.

Also thinking I'll bring up a couple of 10 or 20 Long aquariums with lids I'm not currently using and set those in front of the south-facing windows in the living or dining rooms to put the little starter pots in. Sort of a little mini hothouse ... the lids should help retain moisture and warm them up.

After I got back I ended up taking a little nap ... since I got hit with the insomnia bug and wasn't able to fall asleep last night.

Did not get the hopper or deer feeders refilled ... :(

Amazon delivered the Neem oil, the springs for the electric fence gate, and an assortment of various-sized saucers/catch pans for plant pots while I was sleeping:

As you can see from the photo above, the sun is now out ... so I should probably should throw some clothes on and go see about filling up the feeders for the critters before it gets dark.

Saw an RV like that on the road today, told my wife we should get one like that.

Last night we put an offer in on 15 acres of land in Rockbridge county va. Today we looked at the land, then withdrew the offer. Was surprised we had great cell coverage there, I was expecting no coverage.
The land was steeper than the pictures looked. The knoll we wanted to build on just didn’t have enough area on top. Garden area would have to be down along driveway.
Knoll is trees at top of hill.
IMG_4184.JPG

View from left side of the knoll. Best view for house is here, but close to the line.
IMG_4195.JPG

Still pretty steep here. Best building site is down in the open field, but no view from there.
IMG_4196.JPG

Then driving back we drove by a lot in south PA above Hagerstown md. No signs on lots, so not sure they were still available.
Long day.
